That Bergara B-14R went up in price but "that's par for the course" when it get as popular as it did (shoots well). Saving $400 dollars towards your favorite stock sure helps though, way to go Bergara! Even though I think these stocks are way over priced, part of it was Covid and the rest is me getting old and not getting more money myself! You don't seem to have any issue with the magazine like Joe, he was cussing up a storm. (Nothing new for him but...) Joe shot Eley team (plus some cheaper SK I think he has a video if you could find it)and it did well but I think that each barrel is different if I understand correctly how picky these rifles are.

Timney Hit triggers are very nice...Jard 4oz trigger is nicer yet.
I have a plain Bergara B14R steel. It and my 457 Varmint and 10/22 Green Mountain love one Lot of Eley SABRP. All three shoot in the .2s with it. I have a $150 Shilen Competition trigger set at 6 oz. It will go down to 3 oz. 457 Varmint is set at 8oz with a McMaster spring. $7 for a pack of 12. I bought a case of the SABRP. BTW my Bergara head spaces at .043". No need for shims. Bill Calfee says good ignition is more important that head space.

Like always, How accurate can you afford to shoot?
I have a lot of extraction issues with mine.I also find it to be very picky. On Thursday I started with Ely bench rest precision. Then I tried the SK long match , it was impacting like “6 low. I would like to a series of videos on this rifle. Maybe let eagle eye work some magic on it.
On top of everything else, day to day environmentals will dictate how good your ammo will shoot!
New to rimfire shooting. Is there a particular chassis you would choose for this? Also what are bolt shims?

Xlr, mdt, woox, etc all make great chassis’s. Pick what strikes your fancy the most
Looking to get one, a bit nervous about potential reliability issues or getting a dud. Already have a 457 in 17 for varmint hunting, wanted something 700 pattern to fit my center rifle stuff. So either this or more for a rimx. Do the new heavy barreled b14rs seem better with reliability? extraction etc

Went to the site you said that you could get the barrel action from 1100.00
Is the “heavy” receiver different than the standard Bergara barreled action? I’m thinking a Modacam heavy barrel might be a better choice . That Bergara barrel is very fussy .

I can’t see why they would make it larger than the 700 SA footprint they have always used, if Josh can tell us it fit a 700 size chassis that would cinch it
Do you feel like this barreled action is worth the extra 400 dollars over the 18.5 inch barreled action? I am just a recreational shooter not competing but I also can't leave things well enough alone and can easily see myself installing a KI prefit or having a gunsmith rebarrel it down the road.

🥥🥥 Very good shooting! Yes sir is always like that with rimfire ammo, one has to test everything to really find out that one or two best rounds that the rifle prefers. Is always fun for me and one gets to know the rifle. Great explanation 🫡.
Is the B14R a 40X clone?
450 bucks more for the heavy barrel Bergara seems a little steep I hope there's more to that price than just the barrel 😢
Would be interested to see if it likes any ammo under $18 a box 🤨

I think my buddies B14R with a carbon barrel shoots better and not as picky with ammo.
Okay - you spent $1100 for a barreled .22 action, added a chassis ($?) but because the scope is like $350 you somehow think you're "trying to keep it 'budget'"? Not too many of us have that kind of budget.

But the folks buying this action are usually folks shooting competition, and trying to save money over a vudoo or rimx, so technically it is a budget setup. Sad part is my regular barreled b14r shoots better than this heavy version from what i have seen so far. But on the other side of it my vudoo took about 700 rounds down the pipe before it really started killing it. The heavy barrel might have the same issue.

@@jefflayton5889 yeah, I see what you're saying. I put a Volquartsen 17 HM2 barrel on my 10/22 that does 1/2" at 100 yards and that was only $140 (Midway closeout). And I don't have the wherewithal to spend this kind of money. Point taken, thanks!

I can tell by the groups you are shooting this guns chamber is oversized. It does not have a tight match chamber on it. I would bet a live round will slop back and forth in the chamber. Rimfires don't shoot because of the action their on they shoot because of the chamber it has.
@EagleEyeShooting

I disagree with this. The chamber or a "loose" chamber has little to no influence on a 22lr surprisingly. I have built many rifles with Bentz chambers that win ARA competitions weekly
