This is more than true. The governments of today especially Africa don't care about the ordinary man. They only profess and claim they are there for our sake but end up doing the opposite. TAKPO you have made a laudable point if only they will listen to our outcry
Thank you so much for this information. How can this get to the legislature? How can the electronic media use it to educate those who are been extorted by this backward policy. In western countries where they got these ideas from, customers have a fixed bank maintenance fee. You don't get charged for ATM or POS because they don't carry cash that much. You either pay with cheque or card (credit/debit) mostly. People pay with cash too. If you use your card at a different bank you get charged ($1.50-$2.00) so people avoid that. If you want paper statement, that goes under that bank fixed maintenance fee. Online banking and statements are free. These extortions must stop, it adds up at the end of the year. That is just wickedness.

This can be renamed 'The plight of common people!' Thank you for sort of raising the roof on these practices designed at swindling money from those who are struggling to make ends meet. I have read somewhere that money should work but not lie idle in any institution. So, one should invest in a project/business instead of remitting it to any institution that will fleece you by getting a big share of it.
