Nor was it Charles’ fault. But people really want to hate on someone, and, for some reason, find it difficult to hate on the actual person responsible, the queen, who also destroyed the happiness of her sister (always under the excuse of protecting the crown). What is the point of protecting a rotten thing, i wonder, or to put up a facade that does not reflect reality (the perfect model of family happiness and values), holds on to undesirable ideas, such as the divinity of the monarch (i hope we can all agree that no monarch is actually God’s representative on Earth and that that’s all just branding) and actually prompts cruelty and immorality? Perhaps the lovely, comfy, luxurious life one desperately fears to lose is reason enough to go on with such things.

For this reason, prince Harry should open his mind to the reality ,& facts about hs mother so he should not continue to hate his father alone .every separation in any relationship cannot be the fault of only 1 ,they are always the two who shares the blame, perhaps 1 more than the other if not equal.May prince Harry & hs deceitful wife let princes Diana rest in peace after25 yrs.

Charles was reckless and neglectful of her. But she hadxaffaurs.. she wasn't coerced into them. She incurred his scorn and wrath when she threw herself down the stairs while pregnant with William. I can safely tell you that, after years in the business, there is so much detail, so many nuances and minutae, that it is almost impossible to remember it all and apply it all correctly. A crash course in royal and diplomatic etiquette must have done Diana's head in. In my experience, Protocol is trial by fire. You may have had certain general rules explained, but the exceptions to those rules are often left for the individual to learn as they go on. It gets really crazy, really quickly.

My biggest disappoint in this season is actually Diana. This was THE season for her because it was around the time when she regains her strength & voice and starts to flash out her identity and power - as shown by her actions and her fashion choices at this time. Instead we got her crying and sad and while that is a part of her story by no means it is all of it. I would have loved to see her smashing tea cups as apparently she did after her divorce was through. I think it would have been so much intriguing seeing her gaining more & more power and confidence and clashing with the old system. Dont get me wrong - Elizabeth was very very good but I expected so much more....

The show is called The Crown, not The Diana. No matter how significant, sad, and interesting Diana was, she was just another human being who lived, and died, in its shadow. Meanwhile, the Crown, is allegedly supernatural, and quite beyond mortality - and if that isn't actually true, it may as well be true as it gives every impression that is the case: in one form or another, the Crown has been casting its shadow for over 1000 years ....

I was a child during this war of the Waleses, and I was ten when Diana died. I remember watching her funeral instead of Saturday morning cartoons. I became fascinated with her and learned over time her life as a royal. Since season 4, I have had many encounters with Charles apologists who buy his intentional attempts at character assassinations at her and still repeat them to this day. I have yet to watch season 5, but I will say, I feel for Diana still. She wasn't a saint, and Charles wasn't a martyr. But emotional neglect takes its toll. When someone has had enough of it, acting out is a natural response. The way Charles apologists demonize Diana for the ways she acted out of emotional neglect does not cover nor justify Charles' mistreatment of her that amplified her insecurities until she rose up like a Phoenix to spit fire where she was burned. It is a pox on the British royals to not have the emotional means to support Diana, though his documentary definitely shows institutionally they did amid her valid personal grievances.

I would say Diana wouldn't be as popular today. The ideal woman has changed. Back in the 80s and 90s women were judged far more for their looks and femininity. A beautiful, young, sweet, feminine mother living a fairytale and suffering "hardship" was the ideal woman. Didn't work so well for Meghan. Instead the ideal woman is strong, stoic, hardworking and more outspoken. Anne and Kate are much more popular. Plus, had DIana carried on like she did into her fifties and sixties she would have started looking ridiculous

She has an entire KZread channel bashing Harry and Meghan and getting involved in private family affairs and often does reference her relationship with Charlie and cowmilla. She holds anyone whose against charles and cowmilaa at a higher moral standards when she honestly has a lower one herself knowing who she adores and admires. She's an extention of his PR team in my opinion. She actually did say in one of her videos that she wrote a book about diana and how manipulative she was. She is extremely biased and this reference to anyone on Charles' group writing a book on diana is honestly necessary because of the recent hit peices that are palace driven now that Charles is on the throne and diana is dead. We always knew Diana's side but only little knew Charles side. Charles has never been favorable by the public, even I don't like him before because I always heard about his infidelity. But now, I kind of pity him because since he was young he's been in the shadow of his mother, his father is strict on him and when he got married, his wife is more likeable than him, the public always see him negatively, even if he'll do good works only a few know and will not be appreciated. Imagine growing up with pressure and expectation and without freedom and not liked and being hated. But he endured it all.

It still baffles me to this day how Charles ever got to be King. Diana Spencer was obviously who this country needed on the public stage, she'd have been a great Queen. Charles put himself before his country, and you can waffle on about 'true love' all that you like, but Camilla chose Andrew Parker Bowles over Charles on multiple occasions. We needed a King, not this weak willed schoolboy, and we needed a Queen, not the Prince of Wales Misstress.

No mention of Squidgygate? It was huge at the time- Taped conversations between Diana and her lover James Gilbey. Including Diana’s fears of becoming pregnant. Of course that would never do, to question the saintly Diana eh Netflix? Nobody ever mentions Charles being shipped off to serve in the Navy AND more critically the heads of the Shand and Parker-Bowles family putting an engagement notice in The Times forcing the hand of Andrew Parker-Bowles (and Camilla) to marry. It was seen to be a final bar to a relationship between Charles and Camilla. Another slanted omission.

Diana's affairs are irrelevant because if her husband who was over 10years her senior had loved her the way he was meant too as a man of the world that knew exactly what he was getting into! She would never have gone looking for love in the arms of other men. Adding her affairs would only show more of how Charles failed as a husband

@@lesleymcshanemitchell9651 How about you first learn to spell your words correctly and write coherently? Diana was the best friend of Elton John and George Michael, she had close bonds with sister-in-law Sarah Ferguson, psychotherapist Julia Samuel, and many other A list personalities. Are you suggesting that Sir Elton John was best friends with a stupid, boring woman? Charles and Diana had plenty of common interests, such as complimentary medicine, organic food, organic farming, both had a sense of humour and so on. The problem was that Charles was still infatuated with another man's wife, Camilla. He knew exactly what he was getting into, he was 12 years older than Diana. He could have been honest with her from the beginning and tell her that he didn't loved her, instead of wasting her youth and causing her so much pain and suffering. Charles was sharing gifts with his mistress even before marrying Diana (the cufflinks taken on the honeymoon, the personalised bracelet during the engagement), shared meals together, moved next door to Camilla and her husband... he had the intention of cheating from the very beginning. Poor Diana! She married a sleazy adulterer.
