Ross Gerabaldi Houston fan here. Almost all of baseball fans care. It's unacceptable to hit a young stud that's trying to help Atlanta to clinch the division with a really hard fastball. What does Miami have to lose anyway? They are already dead last by ton of games. This just shows how competitive they are and other teams don't like that. Why are you defending him? At least try to show you're not scared of competition. This made me dislike Urena even more. Such a dick move.

William Johnson there is a place and this is where u do it. U don’t hit him but when u crowed the plate and r on a hot stretch like Acuna he and his teammates should expect a brushback. Wrong to hit him, but let’s not act like he went head hunting, he played the next game. CALM DOWN! U don’t hit him but u DO brush him back. This is part of the game and it has been for 100+ years. All the games all-time greats did it. When hitters crowed the plate and r on hot streaks; pitchers brushed them off to let know that that’s my plate 2, and that ur not gonna walk into the box every at-bat and ur hot shit and hit the ball 10 miles every time 2. And the idea that it’s bad 4 the sport is bull crap, this is on every big time paper in America and it gets ESPN, FS1, and other sports talk shows to talk about baseball 4 a change other than Yankees & Red Sox

Those announcers were 100% spot on. They had to toss Urena, because if I'm the Braves manager and I see him come out there in the 3rd, I'm telling my pitcher to drill him right in the spine. Absolutely bush league stuff and one of the few instances where I wholeheartedly agree with retaliation. If I'm the Braves, no matter where Urena ends up, even if he's not even a Marlin anymore by the next time they see him, drill him.

Braves fan here... I have absolutely no problem with players policing themselves, that's just the way it works in baseball. I played baseball for 25 years and this has always held true. The thing I have a problem with is throwing at a player simply because he is playing well. That's a chicken shit move and it says a lot about a team. This is by no means over, sometimes it takes years to even the score, but its definitely not forgotten...

I have never, ever commented on anything on KZread. My first ever. Jose Urena is now the Tonya Harding of the MLB. And Tonya Harding was barred from professional figure skating for life. It's not for me to say what larger punishment the MLB should levy against Urena. Urena's hatred for Acuna's talent just made himself a pariah in a game that he's worked so hard to be a major part of. He will never recover himself in the field of public opinion. My view of him is forever changed.

  • @storyofcory

There will certainly be a lot of "Remember when..." from opposing teams announcers (and probably the opposing team's coaches and players, too) whenever Urena pitches again, that's for sure, but I'm not 100% convinced that he won't *ever* recover from this, Lauren Buono-Hudson. I think that depends a lot on how he pitches from here on out. If this was a "one and done" (don't hold your breath), then so be it. He made a mistake. If he keeps doing this crap, then... well, it's gonna be a problem, and like I said, I'm not holding my breath. I think he'll do this again some day.

If Urena isn't suspended and heavally fined for this childish, cowardly act then baseball has lost its integrity. The umpires deserve credit here for thinking about what would happen down the line. They considered: will the Braves want to get back at Urena or Realmuto? If we warn both teams without ejecting Urena, the Braves will be infuriated that they can't retaliate...so that's when they threw Urena out AND issued warnings. Great call.

As much as i have to route against the Braves since i am a Phillies fan cause we are chasing them in the NL East, this was just absolute BS with what Urena did. To drill a rising young player on the first pitch after the year he is having and what he has done since being put into the leadoff spot and all the damage he has done in this series. That was just horrible and bushleague. He needs to be suspended for the rest of the year. You don't drill people because of the damage they have done to u all series. Acuna has done nothing wrong execpt play hard and knock in runs and help his team win ballgames especially in a playoff race. He didn't do any batflipping if i recall. He doesn't show anyone up at all. He just minds his own business and does his job. And to see something like that happen to a young man like that is just horrendous and disgusting. The Braves good drafting is showing up on the field and are starting to get the results while the Marlins have nothing but a gutted team with a bunch of AAA ballplayers that's a lock to lose 100+ games all thanks to their bad management. That's terrible. Absolutely terrible with what Urena did to Acuna. Terrible.

As a Marlin fan, I was never impressed by Urena to begin with. Even last year, he was a bad pitcher who simply got lucky, I felt like he couldn't pitch himself out of a wet paper bag if he tried. And that's honestly the least of his problems. He's a major headcase with *severe* problems. That pitch was purely intentional. He doesn't accidently hit 14 batters in a season. If he did, he wouldn't even be in the majors right now. This clearly displays how much of a classless act he is, and if my memory serves me right, this wasn't the only time he threw a bitchfit. I recall in the minor leagues he got into a fight with his own team mate. If I'm wrong, feel free to correct me. But the point is, Jose Urena is poisonous to the Marlin ballclub and for MLB. The faster he gets run out of the club, the better. I'd say I lost respect for Urena, but that implies I had any respect for him to begin with. PS: I hope Acuna Jr recovers quickly. He didn't do anything to deserve any of this.

Sports Fan I think they will, because Derek Jeter doesn't stand for that kind of shit.

Just sucks as a team out of contention can impact another team in the run for it, I’m a cub fan, and I would be pissed if they did that to one of our players. No place for this in baseball.

Snicker is awesome going off like that but the Marlins better thank their stars that Bobby Cox wasn’t still on the bench.
