    Wade was smart , no excessive moves. He just knows how to use space and take what the defense gives him. Reminds me of the '91 MJ actually but still raw. But you knew he was special. His IQ was advanec even just his second year. It's like intuitively he knew how to play the right way. Compare that to Kobe who's a chucker and forces shots, using moves going nowhere sometimes. That's when I felt Wade would be better than Kobe. ANd actually he proved that in 2006 finals and even here. Kobe struggled vs elite perimeter defenses like the Pistons Sixers and Boston. Compare Wade's series against those guys, Wade was so efficient while Kobe shoots usually around 40% from the field. While I give the nod to Kobe due only to his longevity, if Wade didnt get injured I believe he'd surpass Kobe in the all-time list. He was on his way. He was just a natural talent.

    I think the game that really put the league on notice was the following year. The pistons were nearly unbeatable halfway through the year when Wade lit them up for 37, scoring the last 17 for Miami incl the gamewinner. From that point on, Wade was batman and Shaq was the co-star. And the Pistons probably knew that a healthy Wade (as opposed to 2005) was about to beat them in the ecf.

    Wade was responsible for Heats EC emergance. He did provide them their 1st taste of semis in 2004 since 2000. Shaq was not there in 2004. In 2005 game 7 where they loss to the Pistons 88-82 Shaq Should haven't not choked. But he was Shaq who back then. Wade was in his 2nd yr at that time. Now when the 1st semi super team was bulit by the heat in 2005 when they Got Shaq, Wade, Walker, GP, Zo, J will, Posey. That team should have not been down 0-2 in the finals. A mavs team who got Dirk and Josh that barely made it to the west finals. It took GP's jumper in game and Wade and true heat colour to sweep those 3 hime games in the finals. Before escaping the Mavs in game 6. Mavs should have only won 1 game that series.

    It’s kind of a shame he teamed up with Lebron. I used to love to watch Wade as the star of his own team. Would have been fun to see where he finished his career without him. I think if just Wade and Bosh teamed up and Lebron was on a different team, the nba would have been even more entertaining in those years. Granted, winning only twice in four years was a big disappointment and meant the nba stayed competitive, but it just would have been more fun with more good teams and individual stars matching up.

    The talent (or lack thereof) on that Heat squad is actually staggering to look at in hindsight through the lens of how basketball evolved just 10 years later... A team that almost went to the Finals playing Damon Jones and Keyon Dooling as their backcourt rotation aside from Wade. Undersized guards with poor defense and minimal scoring/playmaking ability. So much so the Heat just let 2nd year Wade bring up the ball and spam pick n roll... Two Center closing lineups of which none of the Bigs could do anything outside clogging the paint on offense. Really nothing off the bench outside an occasional spot up three by Rasual Butler and Zo coming to screen on offense and block shots on defense... Even Shaq was vastly overrated at this stage of his career, imo. I guess his ability to generate some isolation baskets from the post was better than nothing on a team like this, but man, it didn't look pretty... And the Heat didn't even need Shaq for more than 60 minutes to sweep the Wizards in the 2nd round... There's no way in hell you give any superstar in today's league that limited of a supporting cast and they get to the Finals with it... And this isn't me saying Wade was better than every superstar today, it's just the talent and offensive strategy (on top of favorable rules) is so much better... Even if you are a Top 5 player in the league, you need another all-start at minimum, and a string of strong role players to have a prayer at winning a title.

  • @pipohemm8726

    @pipohemm8726

    You underestimate this Heat team quite a bit. Wade was a top 5 player by the playoffs. Shaq was 2nd in mvp voting and couldnt really be guarded 1vs1. Eddie Jones was an elite 3-D guy. Damon Jones was a sniper. Haslem was a quality player on both ends. Mourning was the best backup center in the league. Dooling was one of the best backup pgs in the league. Butler could really shoot. Laettner and Anderson were solid vets who rounded out the rotation. Of course there is more talent in todays league due to the world wide influx of talent. But let me tell you both of these teams would have represented the east in the finals in 2023. No way the current Heat team is better and no way the flawed philly and boston teams would win more than 2 games against either one of these teams.
