Fun Fact: Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor are married in real life which made White’s awkward wooing of Kate and her disgust of him even more hilarious than it already was. Also Lance Armstrong’s cameo aged horribly when he was exposed for using steroids throughout his bicycling career. Because of his doping scandal, Lance was stripped of the Tour de France titles and is banned for life from all professional bicycling events. Which is crazy since all of the other bicyclists were using steroids too. They pretty much threw Lance under the bus because he was the American beating all of the European bicyclists.

Fun fact, the ending was originally supposed to be where Average Joes loses and they go home with nothing. That's why it's a "true underdog story ", the joke being that most underdogs typically lose. But test audiences hated that ending so much they shot the new ending where Average Joes wins. Stiller and Vaugn hated the new ending, that's why there's the fat Goodman cameo at the end complaining about it, and also why, if you look closely, the treasure chest at the end has "Deus ex machina" on it.

Dodgeball was by far the favorite game to play in gym class. The coaches liked to take our entire boys gym class & divide it into 2 large teams. Lesson #1: When the whistle blows get behind all of the big guys on your side, i.e., a human shield. Lesson #2: Under inflated balls are easier to throw as you can grip them. They also seem to hurt more. Lesson #3: Aim for the face or private parts to inflict maximum damage. A good shot to the side of a face with an under inflated ball will leave a huge red mark. Lesson #4: Depending on the thrower, catching a ball can be an easier out than hitting another player. Lesson #5: Save yourself for the end of the game as most of the real jocks will have been taken out. Lesson #6: Do you have a personal problem with some one? Get a little payback under the cover of organized sport. Where else are you going to get school authorization to hit your nemesis in the privates? Dodgeball the favorite of Amer. boys everywhere! And good exercise.

Gym class Dodgeball is a No Win situation, wherein if you're the best at it, everyone winds up ganging up on The Last Man Standing and literally pummels you with more balls than you can catch or dodge at once. However, it teaches one of Life's most valuable lessons - Nobody gets out alive! btw, Lance Armstrong preaching about living with decisions that won't haunt one forever is PRICELESS! - you know, because of his doping scandal and being stripped of his titles, and all that haunting disgrace.

This brings back so many memories of grade school that I can smell the rubber balls. With Missi Pyle being beautiful, the amount of make-up it took to "un-pretty" her was amazing. Christine Taylor, 'Kate', also played Marcia in the Brady Bunch movies.

Name's Patches. Patches O'Houlihan. We so DO have Dodgeball in Australia, little Missy Pyle. I was champion in my class and went on to play for the Australian Dodgeball Association of Australia. We even had ADAA Continuation Rule 113-D, Sudden Death. Except that it is 113-C in our rulebook.

I loved playing Dodgeball in school. I was actually pretty good at it. Not the best, but pretty good. Also, the house I lived in at the time was on a bit of a hill, so we found out pretty quickly that we couldn't play it in the alley between the houses. Miss a ball, and it would roll down the hill faster than us kids could chase it. Once it crossed the street at the bottom of the hill... it was gone. So, being the Gen-X kids we were, we adapted and played Dodge with Frisbees. Let me tell you, if you think that rubber ball stung when you got smacked in the face with it.... try taking a Frisbee to the nose. Sure, we spilled a little blood, but that's just how things were in the 1970s. It helped toughen you up. Just look at the playgrounds we had back then. Steel structures 12 feet high to climb on, that "spinning death trap" (also made of steel) that kids would occasionally fly off of, steel sliding boards that were the temperature of the sun in the summer months.... swing sets that we could jump off of at 10 feet in the air, landing on solid ground, and occasionally the swing set itself would come out of the ground. It's a wonder we survived all that childhood fun. Also, if you haven't seen the movie "Grandma's Boy", I highly recommend it!

Old aussie here so this must be a generation thing cuz back when i was in high school we played dodge ball in PE and at times on our own in playground. My guess is that you kids got to soft and complained and had dodgeball banned in school cuz god forbid a kid gets hit with a ball.

went to school throughout the 90's in Sweden and it was a regular thing for PE in middle school. Our gym teacher had us do dodgeball, an obstacle course (with one person tagging and the rest fleeing to incentivize us to keep going) and orienteering, the only "real" sports we did was handball and floor hockey.

When I was in elementary and junior high in the 60's we called it Slaughter Ball...we used semi-deflated volleyballs instead because they hurt way more and you could get a hold of them to throw them harder. It was outlawed in the schools by the time I was in High School and/or so watered down so the girls could play.

Mary, a variation of Dodgeball did exist in Australia in the 70s-80s. It was called "Brandings" and the object was for everyone to run from one end of the gym to the other without being branded by the ball… rinse and repeat. Winner is the last to be branded. Unsurprisingly, it fell out of favour by the 90s

As an American dude bro thats been 6 feet for as long as i can remember, dodgeball was my reason to exist. Every single day I would shake and itch for gym class just so i can speed down the court at Mach 50 and run back with a ball in each hand ready to OBLITERATE the smaller classmates :) The small ones are the targets, the big ones will try to be their heroes, and that is their mistake. You aim for the small, take out the big. The heroes fall and the small have no wall... it was always my game. It is physical and mental training if you go against people who know how to play too
