I heard this song right before a man I loved migrated from the Philippines to Canada. We both feared the idea of a cross-continental LDR, so we ended things a week before his flight. This song turned things around for us and we got back together. I shared a good two years with him and I loved him with all my being. He was my first. He was home. And it gutted me when, one year ago, he said he'd rather we grow apart. Sometimes, I still think of him. When I pass by our old haunts, I find myself recalling our better days. It used to hurt being just a memory to him and vice versa, but I can be content with that now. It's better this way. Our time is long gone and I deserve better. So does he.

Just like mine. My ex and I had to break up because he also needs to go to Canada. The difference is we both know it won't work (LDR) and we might end up hating each other. We need to grow apart and if someday, if it happens that we meet each other again we would definitely give it a try. 😊☺️ The thing is, when we know that its genuine and unconditional love even if it hurts, we release them with grace. We allow them and ourselves to grow ❤️

I didn’t think this song could get any better, I love this!!!!

The song really helped me through my breakup about 3 years ago. It was the first big breakup I ever had with someone I truly loved. Knowing that they didn't want to grow with me and instead grow apart really killed me inside but knowing that other people felt the same and seeing the other stories in the comments helped 💛

I KNOW RIGHT!! This is one of my favorite Ben Platt songs, and Sara has always been one of my favorite artists. It's so cool to hear them both like this!

This song helped me and my girlfriend stay together. We were both dealing with lots. We are married now. I wouldn’t want to go through any hardships without her. Growing with her is amazing.

My husband and I have been married for almost 42 years and this song describes what we actually did except for feeling like we needed to grow apart from each other. We grew as we went and we're still growing. Thank you, Ben, for writing a song that fits our journey. We both loved this song as soon as we heard it. 💙💙

Bittersweet. I have so many beautiful memories to this song. This was our themesong afterall. We had a long distance relationship for almost 3 years but when he finally moved closer to me, he passed away a few days after. I never got to say goodbye. He still lives in my heart though.💙🤍

I truly didn't think this song could get any better, I was wrong and not only I'm glad that I was but I'm grateful that I was.

I found this song by chance when I was compiling the wedding song list for me and my fiancée. Immediately got goosebumps and thought "this is us". The amount of shit we've dealt with since getting together is unbelievable. Still, I was unsure about putting it on the list because it starts in a seemingly bad place and was initially a breakup song, but in the end I put it there as a later track. I was supposed to walk down the isle to one of the wedding classics. Then on the wedding day, our music player malfunctioned - at first it wasn't playing at all and I thought, great, so we have no wedding music. Then at last it started playing, but the order of the tracks was all scrambled, and this song came out as the first one. I teared up and thought, okay, I guess it was meant to be. It was meaningful, heartfelt and perfect.

I remember listening to Sara Bareilles on my rides to middle school and bopping my head to her upbeat songs. How time does fly

I kept wanting to sing along, but everytime there was a harmony that wasn't there before, I was just left speechless and couldn't cope, this is too beautiful and I need a whole album of you two singing together.

My husband and I met when we were in 6th grade. God led us together when we were 16. We’re in our 40s now. We’ve raised each other. 💛💙 we’ve been married for 24years this year. I can’t wait to see how much more we will grow together. 🪴

Definitely Ben's best song. The second he released it years ago, I was stunned. It was so beautiful and heart-wrenching.

Oh my goodness, I wish that I had heard this song last year. But God has got me and has been growing me and I have to lay down my regrets at His feet and my past that I can’t edit. I can see God’s hand through it though and can be thankful for it when I remember things about the past.
