Just a note on what Mark said about some United players probably wouldn't listen to Ange. It was actually no different at Spurs. Ange just sidelined all of those players. The Spurs team at the start of this season was VERY different to last season. No Lloris, no Dier (until they ran out of players and needed just anyone), and other regulars just gone. If Ange went to United, I think there'd be a whole bunch of players you'll not see take the field again.

I would count 22 players to be moved on before ANY manager can start putting their stamp on United players. I am not kidding , look at the players one by one, all are counter attack based players, that would include players like Bruno and Rashford , they are not suited for modern possession based football.

You get the point, right ? Essentially keep the young players, get rid of whole first team squad with high wages, bring in new talented/young coachable players with Average Wages on Short contracts and Performance Bonuses like Clean sheet/Pass %/ Goal/Assists. Then let ETH cook for a season, I don't mind if we don't qualify for Champions League for 2 seasons as long as we play exciting football, by 3rd season we should be able to reach Top 4 or even Challenge for Title. If ETH does not stamp his style even with these changes in next season then his out of contract, only renew end of next season if he manages to make it work! Then go for which ever Manager suits this play style. I know this is too idealistic and too Ruthless in terms of changes, but if United really tried we can make it happen, as Martial, Tom Heaton, Jonny Evans contract gets expired at the end of this season. Varane, Maguire, Lindelof, AWB, Eriksen, Mctominay. Contract ends in 2025 so next season is their last season, so they should be prime deadwood to be sold(For Age, Inguries and Performance reasons) for some cash. Casemiro won't be happy with a Bench role and is sellable to Saudi Clubs, so he should also be sold next season. Sell Antony, Just not good enough, I see more in Pellistri, Amad and Sancho. I would even take a loss and sell him for 40M. These were obvious ones, now shocking ones are: Give Mason Greenwood another chance(only if he wants it), Sell Rashford(does not suit Possession football and cash in on PSG interest after Mbappe leaves), Sell Bruno, I highly doubt he would suit possession football or even the Ajax style football. Sell Sancho, too much of a Diva and crossed the line with the Club. Dalot is sub-par, can do a job but not good enough help win matches, also I don't think he can work in possession football with triggers on Full backs. Onana, not good enough, we can maybe try for one more season, but by then Diogo Costa would be gone! Someone famously said "We need Open Heart surgery", well this is the one :). Even if we won't be able to make all the changes, I expect a defensive overhaul next summer.

Caught that segment on Sky Sports with the former ref discussing the Garnacho incident? It was quite cringe-worthy. Having an ex-ref on Sky's commentary team, "He's made a good decision there has John," constantly praising the referees' performance, really strikes as an 'old boys' club' scenario. In my opinion, the best referees are the ones you barely notice. While everyone understands and accepts the occasional human error on the field, it feels like the referees' association is overly focused on making these officials the centre of attention. It's a glaring flaw in the system. Add to that the whole VAR debacle, and it's just too much. I'm honestly getting tired of this. #switchitoff

Comparing Ange to ETH is like comparing apples to oranges. You're literally comparing 5 months against 1-and-a-half years. Ange has done brilliantly at Tottenham but we've yet to see how he handles the team when they go through a terrible run of form like previous managers have and are plagued with injuries and need picking up. That's when you can judge a manager on how they handle a team in the long-term and not just when they're on a win streak. It wouldn't even be fair to compare Ange's five months in charge against ETH when the latter has won a trophy last season with United and reached two cup finals, whereas Ange hasn't had the chance to show that yet. Even if you compared both of their first five months as managers of their teams people seem to forget that ETH had an impressive run of games with United when he started. He won 18 out of his first 25 games for United which was better than any manager before him.

  • @karmaascendant3936

    @karmaascendant3936

Ange has gone through a terrible run of form when he got 1 point in 15 and absolutely nothing changed. ETH changed in 3 games considering he went from Eriksen as a single pivot to Casemiro and McTominay/Eriksen. He’s just played United off the park at Old Trafford missing 5 starters against United who weren’t really missing anyone that would changed that match. ETH did well to win the Carabao but he literally got to the final playing league 1 and championship opposition and played against a team that hasn’t been in a final or won anything in decades. In the final that actually mattered he rolled over and let City piss all over him. United’s only goal came from a hand ball.

  • @jamesmoore4910

The fact you said United weren't missing any players that would have changed the Spurs game, when we didn't have our 2/3 of most important players is wild, tells me everything I need to know about your opinion. Also ETH rolled over in the final? Child like analysis, they scored a worldie after 10 seconds because of the players, not manager, their second was a shit long range shot being De Gea's fault, not ETH.

I’m glad that Luton goal wasn’t disallowed, Trafford knows what he’s doing. He knows he isn’t getting the ball so he just tries to make contact with Adebayo as he thinks if he gets contact and goes down it’ll be a foul. Thankfully the ref and VAR saw through that, because I’m bored of goalkeepers getting treated like royalty. Adebayo wasn’t even looking in the direction of Trafford, it’s never a foul in a million years.

You're wrong ben. no one would be able to implement a style of play with these united players. the players arent willing to listen. rangnick did get them playing a gegenpressing style.. for a few games or whatever. then the players got sick of him and stopped trying and the board fired him without even seeing through the project they had planned. Ten hag has tried to instil some discipline in the squad and it resulted in jadon sancho refusing to play for him ever again. there is a culture problem there. even getting rid of all the players may not be enough. the owners are toxic and that trickles down.

The interesting thing about united is that they have so much talent, but it isn't utilized. Take set pieces as an example, they've scored some, but almost all of them have been Rashford last season or Casemiro and that isn't often. They've got set piece takers in Eriksen, Bruno, Mount and Rashford, they've also got players capable in the box during a cross in Højlund, Varane and Casemiro, but they so rarely score from deadballs. If united get a corner or a freekick the other team might as well just sit down and catch their breath, nothing is happening most of the time.

But 99% of the time, it's just head down, run as fast as you can, and try to shoot. He needs to learn how to do something else. AWB has learned to make passes and runs ffs. Rashford is overrated AF.

Have to agree with mark, there needs to be a clear out in midfield for Utd. what we have got are very poor level for premiership. 2wingers that cut inside and shoot almost every time. A striker playing up front who gets 1.6 passes to him a match, which is very very poor. Fernandez, who hits the floor or stands still complaining when losing possession. so many goals come from him no following his man. Mctominay is just not up to standard , Eriksen who is passed his best and no pace(understandable at his age) and Mount, who was injury prone at Chelsea and no different now. no matter what manager comes in. you cant polish a turd but you can roll it in glitter! Mainoo is what we should be looking towards for the future but he is young and cannot run midfield himself, not in this team. he is the only defensive player with the brains for positioning the rest leave him covering the whole of the midfield. For me, we need 2 decent wingers to get the balls into the box for Hojland and 3 midfielders that includes another world class defensive player. panic buys like Casemiro wont work excellent podcast from you all.

United's midfield looks bad because of ETH tactics in possession United are a 3-1-6 United can't keep possession due to Bruno trying first time passes what aren't on !!! Every time Bruno gets the ball he's in a rush. That spreads through the team, then every player seems in a rush giving the ball away. If ETH played a simple 4-3-3 United would be a lot better. Midfield 3 of Casemiro, Mainoo and Amrabat. Front 3 of Garnacho Hojlund and Mount.

i think the thing with VAR is its not meant to get anything wrong. pre var football you could swallow a bad decision from a referee in the moment and put it down as human error. but when they look at 17 different angles and still get it wrong it feels like a real robbery!

Newcastle needs to do what others do. They need to get sponsorship contracts with businesses owned by the Public Investment Fund, so they can inject heavy money in the club through sponsorships without fearing FFP, so they can spend like they want. Others do it, I don't see why they don't or shouldn't.

I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion, but for corners and freekicks I am so sick and tired of the shirt pulling, arms wrapped around players (both sides) and the over the top physical pushing and shoving. And to a certain degree I am ok with intimidating or trying to put off the keeper but once the cross comes in, no touching. Its utterly ridiculous why this is all ok. It all means that we are missing out on skillful goals, great headers.

Assisting goals was never an issue at Chelsea, he got plenty of assists actually. No doubt that whilst he was doing that you were laughing at him for missing easy chances, which is what will happen at Spurs. He’s not changed. He had a chance that Son scores 8/10 times, and that’s where he’s gonna cost you points whilst he’s playing.

How can Mark say Ange has better quality of players... he was just playing Emerson and Davies as centerbacks. Even Skipp and Hojbjerg against United. He made his team dominate United at Old Trafford without his 3 best midfielders, his best striker (Son) and his best winger (Kulusevski). The difference is the manager not the players, no question about it!

He literally handled the Ronaldo situation the best way possible, what are you talking about? Ronaldo had a bad run of form and he started him plenty of times to give him the chance to improve. Ronaldo then acts like a child and whines and complains about being taken off in matches and leaves games early. ETH then benches him as a warning that the team comes first. Ronaldo then allows a controversial interview to air hours after United win without him, slags off the manager and the entire club and instead of lashing out back at Ronaldo, United terminate his contract and ETH carries on without him and without slagging him off. I wouldn't even call Harry Maguire a 'big player' but you clearly haven't been watching United the last few months if you're saying ETH doesn't handle Maguire well. Ole played Maguire relentlessly and made him handle crazy amounts of pressure and refused to swap him out even when he was playing abysmally. And ultimately it messed with his mental health. ETH came in and gave him chances and it didn't work, so he took him out of the starting team until he proved himself. You never hear Maguire complaining or criticising ETH because of it and he's done amazing over the last couple of months and shown ETH why he should be a starting candidate. That's a massive upgrade over Ole who would pick his favourites regardless of form and would ruin their credibility, whereas ETH isn't afraid to drop players that need to prove themselves off the pitch. It doesn't matter whether you're Sancho or Ronaldo, no player should be bigger than the club, and everyone should be held accountable for not doing their part.
