This is a really cool restoration, and I appreciate the PF references! If you find that the belt slips under load when using the grinder, it may be because the pulley on the electric motor isn't really intended to drive a belt. Great work, Cap'n!

What restoration? That was originally a very old bench grinder and it was also modified/butchered many decades ago. So it's no longer original and then he modified it again so it's even less original. It's no longer an antique of any kind. He also put it on a modern stand. A real restoration would be to turn it back into a bench grinder without cutting off the work supports. A total hodgepodge with parts from different eras. A restoration is to turn something back into the way it was originally designed and built from the factory. This might be considered what some people refer to as a renovation. To take something old or historic and modernize it into something that no longer resembles the original.
Great work! I expect you'll have this tool for the rest of your natural life!

Thanks for the video Brett. Nice rebuild. You really need handles for those files. Use a golf ball on the bigger one. I'm sure you can knock up a simple wood turning handle for the small ones or a bit of a rubber hose or even a re-use an empty 12g CO2 cylinder I have seen someone do somewhere? Keep safe and stay well.
