Making a Forge Hood and Anvil Stand
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Now that we've got the ship shop (mostly) in order, it's time we got the forge up and running again. Using some cheap and easy solutions, we're back in action and ready to forge.

I like how you "sanded" that anvil stand...😉
@skullandspade
4 жыл бұрын
I thought that's what folks meant by sanding....
"Why are you like this?!?"... "Reasons..." As good an answer as needed. Excellent work Capn'!!! I look forward to the many new projects that will come forth from the new ship shop. I do also look forward to seeing how your anvil stand serves you.

It's funny how the black pipe and fittings are sold as a shelf bracket. The shop's coming along nicely
@skullandspade
4 жыл бұрын
Right? Premade "brackets" with 3 pieces you can buy 2 aisles over.
@nathanjohansen7169
4 жыл бұрын
Look out. Companies are making black pipe lookalikes that are thinner walled and not actually useable as a pipe. They are designed to be only shelving with an industrial pipe appearance.
I have zero intention of ever blacksmithing, and this comes up in my reccomendations. I think, "A forge hood and anvil stand, you say? Let's see what you got, cowboy." Good stuff right there!

I half expected to see more and more band-aids as the hood was going together ending with mummified hands at the end. Also that shelf bracket was brilliant.

Both the hood and the anvil stand looks great! I like how Trucker Hat Brett is like the scrappy, quiet, just-get-to-it, no nonsense dude from the desert, and normal and/or Scrunchy Brett is the lovable, enthusiastic, dorky yet confident, comitted captain! :) Those guys are my favorites!

Forging might be dangerous in the desert. Shai-Hulud could get annoyed. Nice to see the pieces fall into place. All the best from Germany

I've made peace with the local worms. They know that hammer swings mean I'm present, and will provide snacks.
It's coming along, Brett! Billy
Great job! Desert sand - your primary material that will be featured in every build from now on (even if you don't want it to)... Oh, and you should put a head on the hood to match Full Metal Al!

Really oughta look at installing insulated pipe through that "sob" board and shingle roof. Those materials make great fire starters. Would be a bummer to lose roof and walls. At least your forge and anvil are fire proof. I like your can do, get it done work style

Not only fire protection but really aluminum for hood not a good idea!
The "mark a round with tape" trick is genius man! Really nice to see you putting together the new ship shop and adding the essentials :) The forge hood reminded me a bit about a fish head - which I really like!

My first thought upon seeing the hole in the roof was what about snow when winter comes, then i remembered the whole desert part. Great video, I really enjoy watching these videos of how your new place comes together.

Indeed! That's what I thought.
Now, what if, instead of sand in the anvil base, you used Cap'n Crunch's Crunch Berries: Oops! All Berries breakfast cereal? Why that specific variation of Cap'n Crunch you ask? Because I am not a peasant like those Cap'n Crunch's Mystery Volcano Crunch-loving pieces of shit.
@skullandspade

I knew you were an oops all berries kind of guy. And now I'm off to the grocery store where the cereal flows like wine.

Crazy how I went from just enjoying a video to now I even notice and appreciate the stuff like the gradual music build up before you started in with the saw on the anvil stand(4:55) or the sand in the stand itself!
