Belmont Drive-In Theater Back After 10 Years! ** BONUS Footage: Roadside Repair Needed to Get Home!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

After 10 years the Belmont Drive-In Theater is back open! I used to go here over a decade ago and it was a lot of fun. It was the closest operating drive-in to me. After they closed, I was forced to drive even further to see a movie in the comfort of my own car. I'm glad they are back open. It was classic car night, and they were playing American Graffiti and Two Lane Blacktop on the big screen! It was rainy weather, so I expected to not see many classics but was pleasantly surprised to see quite a few had showed up! True car people!
This is just a short video that shows the features and layout and some menu items. I wasn't originally planning on making a video but decided last second that some folks might like to see what a drive-in movie is like!
**BONUS extra footage** Car troubles on the way home the next day. Roadside repairs to get home.

American Graffiti was a good choice in film, great to see so many classic cars at a drive in.

Brings back memories of our childhood spent at the "Dreamland Drive-In , Asheville N.C. in the 70's early 80's .I think it was $5.00 a car load back then .

We used to have several drive-in theatres here on O'ahu. Had some of the best fun with the most fun movies in drive-ins. They're just a memory in Hawai'i, but I'm glad to see you folks on the mainland haven't gotten rid of them all. Mahalo for taking me along! Dad's '66 Valiant 200 station wagon 225 with three-on-the-tree was a Hawai'i (and Mexican) heater-delete model. Aloha!

@@ObsoleteAutomotive It was a thing back in the 1960s and '70s. My favorite one was the Sunset Drive-In in Waipahu. The final one we had was the Kam Drive-in in Aiea. For decades afterward, this drive-in served as a swap meet until the beginning of the century. Now, the place is abandoned. Our drive-ins used the classic heavy, metal-enclosed speakers you could hang on your car door. I like your FM setup out there. Sound was never too spectacular in my day, but since...oh..."Star Wars" in 1977, I guess the sound quality HAD to be improved.

@@jimcabezola3051 A lot of the theaters still had the metal hanging speakers back when I was first going to them. But most have the FM broadcasts now. Don’t have to maintain the speakers and repair them when people drive off with them still attached. Ha. Honestly the sound quality is better with your FM radio as well.

@@ObsoleteAutomotive Yes, that FM radio thing is really clever! Given the amazing stereos people can put in their cars, the sky (and the car's battery) is the limit on how good you want your drive-in sound to be. If I worked at a drive-in today as a maintenance person...I'd probably have repair all the speakers folks would inevitably break... 🤣

That was a lot of fun! I do remember the days of the drive in movie theaters. My teen years are long gone. Most of the drive in theaters we had here in Oregon are gone. Enjoyed hangin with you and seeing a blast from the past!

Just in my town there were 4 drive-in theaters! They all pretty much went under by the 1980s along with the downtown theaters sadly.

Try using rain x on your windshield it will eliminate that center v that the wipers miss They solved that blind spot by overlapping the wiper blades in later years It's especially bad when it snows

Sundrop is a local favorite here. I grew up with it. It’s a very regional cola only found in certain areas.
