Bellringers ring the three bells of the mountain village of Esio

The village of Esio is in the municipality of Premeno, Italy, far from the old town, because it is on the top of the mountain overlooking the beautiful valley. It is one of the most beautiful views in this area, where the bells are rung by a friend of mine, whom I consider one of the best bell ringers I know. The church was built in the 17th century, as was the bell tower, which was built detached from the sacred building. The bell tower retains the bells' strings and the keyboard for ringing the melodies; the bells are tuned to F sharp major and were cast in 1834 in Milan; the second of them was remade in 1959.

My bell-ringing friend Luca and one of the London bellringers Dylan went to ring these three very beautiful bells at the Friday celebration. Coming from a very scenic road, we entered the bell tower, from which there is an exceptional view. I conducted the traditional bell concert, which I was very happy about as I played with two of the best bell ringers I know. The locals were delighted and told us to continue ringing their bells, proud that this corner of paradise has been documented.
The church is located in the middle of narrow stone streets, interspersed with houses built by the locals. The church is preceded by a very wide portico, with a churchyard directly overlooking the valley and a view of the beautiful Lake Maggiore. The interior is very small and elegant, retaining original 17th-century Baroque parts and a magnificent, very expressive Crucifix. The main parts are the Baroque high altar and the ancient choir fresco, dedicated to the martyrdom of the patron saint Andrew. At the entrance is a tombstone dating back to 1001.

I don't know the alloy ratio of those bells, but I feel they have a wonderful, dry tone. Combined with the surrounding scenery, it is a sound of tradition and formality. Thanks for sharing, my friends.🥷🇯🇵
