The Belgians don't win, they don't even always make it to the finals, but one thing you have to admit, with their entries from the last seven years, they have given eurovision a new vibe.

I have to say I'm surprised at how indifferent people are to this song. That chorus is so damn catchy and easy to sing along to! I really hope it grows on people and qualifies.

If Eurovisión was a festival where quality had a chance to win, this song would be a winner. Quality, sophisticated, nostalgic... A song that I will keep on listening after the Festival.

I wasn't a fan of Hooverphonic's entry 2020, but this year they're really bringing it! It's fire🔥🇧🇪🔥

Hooverphonic were my number 1 last year, and their 2021 entry works even better for me! I just love how it shows their classical sound, makes the song very unique. This is something to listen apart from Eurovision and it stands out on competition itself, gives it some quality. Belgium doesn't fail to impress every year, keep it up, guys!

Absolutely brilliant song, this is real music, beyond just fireworks. Once again Hooverphonic is serving us quality and I am loving every second of it!

It's like Belgium DARK chocolate..... it's dark and gloomy... It's Belgium..... an acquired taste, and not for all the ESC musical taste buds.

I think I understand now why this song was rated so low. IMHO it deserved top 10. Not top 5 mind you (this year had too many strong songs) but top 10 for sure.

This is pretty good, better than last year, still need to see how those vocals work live but I think this can go to the final.

As a belgian, one thing that I'm not concerning about are the live vocals. Geike will deliver live. I just wish the staging will be good for once.

I'm not sure if you noticed that Finnish pop tends to be similar to this. Well, at least dark and a bit edgy.

Very sophisticated pop, I think this takes more than one listen to really appreciated it. It may be one of the better tracks in the contest, as it's not "just a pop song", but rather something with more layers that exists easily outside the Eurovision bubble. The question remains if it has the impact to grab the audience's attention in three minutes on the first go and make a strong enough impression to gather votes to qualify, and, if it does, will it do well in the final. In a way, this reminds me of older Eurovision songs, which is both good and bad. The good is that many of those that did well are more than just your typical pop songs. They relied on much more sophisticated ways to pull you in and engage with you, and many now-classic songs are earworms because of it. The bad is that people don't have the same attention span as they did back then and are looking for that one in-your-face hook that is memorable right off the bat without digging deeper into a song to listen to it more than once, or paying attention on the night to more of the nuances in a song. This may mean it gets lost in the shuffle. It's a lush pop arrangement (Sarah Brightman covered their 1997 track "Eden" and named an entire album after it) and Geike's voice sounds gorgeous. You can certainly get hooked on one listen but it's much less likely to happen with this than, say, Finland, Lithuania or Cyprus.

Belgian Eurovision never fails. Dark yet beautiful music. ❤🇧🇪

Obviously I am bit biased because I am Belgian myself, but I do understand both comments made in this WiWibloggs video. No, this is not a classical Eurovision song. And no, it might not be an instant earworm. But I do must say how very excited many Belgians are that Hooverphonic is going to Rotterdam with this song. Geike Arnaert finally returned to Hooverphonic after having been a great solo artist for a while. It's like an old love that never gets worn out. Her voice is one in a thousand, even maybe one in a million. Like the guys are saying here, her presence is very captivating. Eurovision is a show full of surprises. After the turn of the century in 2000, so many people were counting out the 'founding countries' of the Eurovision Contest for all kinds of reasons. And then Germany, Austria and even Portugal won the contest. It's been since 1986 that Belgium won the contest the last and only time in the history of the contest. Is this song going to win? Maybe not. But I hope for a lot of love from Hooverphonic fans throughout Europe. This song deserves a final spot, because like the guys says: this song is like good wine. It becomes better after the second tasting.

the thing with hooverphonic is u have to listen it several times till it gets u. this song gets better the more u hear it. reminds me a bit of their huge hit mad about you- its not that clever but it works for me.

I love this entry exactly for the reason that you mentioned - they just do their thing, not trying hard to do europop thing to be likeable to masses. I aprreciate that and actually have this song on 1st place rn

I get it, it’s not going to set the world on fire but there’s a place for it. It will provide needed breathing space between higher charged entries and maintains the quality and interest level. Better than last year.

This reminds me to mid 2000s pop rock kind of sound like Tokio Hotel/ Avril Lavigne that type or Era. I'm with Deban, I like it although I don't know who it's going to do in Eurovision

I didn't like the song at first, but now I'm actually liking it. It will really depend on the staging. Just a tip: Geike is more pronounced as "hey-kuh" (but normally with a Flemish G instead if H).

I really love this song and I think it's being underestimated. I just think the staging is going to be amazing and will bring it to life. I also think it's going to be very atmospheric. It definitely has to make the final.

I definitely agree with Deban. This is a slow-burn piece. Well, it has so much time to burn until Rotterdam. The creepiness has resemblance of Monster Like Me in 2015. Which was Top 10 in my list.

Will always prefer Release Me because it was so atmospheric but I like this new one.

I can see quality here but it's not my thing. I find it rather boring.

I like it a lot more than last year but I would enjoy it a lot more if the 'Johnny Cash t-shirt'-lyric was not in there. It just distracts me from everything else, in a bad way. I also worry a lot for the staging...

Deban, I am getting so bored of those typical Eurovision songs and all the girly pop. This is a wind of fresh air for me. I would love to see more non typical Eurovision songs.

I'm a littel sad about Luka Cruysberghs she was the singer last year to not be here. Don't get me wrong the singer is good i just prefer the other singer. But I still love the song and the new/old singer. My number 7 for now. By a french big fan of Belgium since 2015.

@@Cazlo they don't need to be in the fanbase they just have to watch eurovision and a lot of them tho. eurovision fandom is very small. The Common Linnets were also successful because of that age group.
