Being Black at MSU
A reflection on the daily triumphs and struggles of the Black student community at MSU Texas. This collage of stories reflects the often unnoticed microaggressions, sidelined perspectives and racist interactions faced by so many in this community; all while finding new ways to improve the experience for those who come next.

Thank you all for posting this. My child was supposed to go visit this campus. I think we will look elsewhere.
Great job on this documentary. I have had my similar experiences as well and I am so glad to bat students and staff shared their stories.
We’ve been asking for these things since before I graduated in 2007. I feel like I’m listening to the black experience from the early 2000s that we had. The needs not being met and being ignored. BSU and NAACP worked on initiatives but it seems to fade away when certain people leave.
Oh wow, this was really hard to watch. My experience at MSU, scarred me for life. I was constantly targeted on and off campus. I had to change my major 3 times. The counselor at the time was not supportive or helpful with providing resources. I could do a whole series of interviews with colleagues who were victimized as well. We literally would call Wichita Falls “The Black Hole”. 18 years later smh.
My heart hurts for you.
