Behind the Scenes of an Eye-Catching Fetishwear Fashion Shoot

Фильм және анимация

In this Photo Deconstruction I'll take you behind the scenes of a fetishwear fashion shoot and walk you through the planning, lighting, and post-processing to create this striking image.
00:00 Introduction
00:53 Preparation
2:12 BTS: Lighting
6:33 Post processing
💡Lighting (4)
1. Main Light: A Westcott Optical Spot with a kit lens was positioned on the left-hand side to create a focused slice of light down the model's face, illuminating her features and mid-torso area.
2. Fill Light: A bare strobe with a green gel was placed on the right-hand side, bouncing off a white wall behind the camera. This light filled in shadows on the subject, background, and props with a saturated green hue.
3. Background Light: A Profoto D2 with an Optical Spot and checkerboard gobo was used to light the background, creating a textured effect that complemented the theme of the shoot.
4. Rim Light: A 1x4' strip softbox was positioned to the right-hand side to provide a highlight on the model's hair, shoulder, and other specific areas, adding polish and depth to the overall composition.
🖌 Post Processing
1. Saturation: The green tones were boosted to make them more vibrant and impactful, ensuring that they popped in the photograph.
2. Cleanup: Minor retouching was done to remove distractions such as visible harnesses, ensuring clean lines and a polished appearance.
3. Brightening: The checkerboard gobo pattern on the background was brightened to maintain its visual presence and consistency throughout the image.
4. Skin tone adjustment: A warmer skin tone was applied to the model to add depth and vibrancy to her complexion, rather than appearing pale.
By carefully fine-tuning these elements in post-processing, the image was refined to its full potential, resulting in a visually stunning depiction of fetish wear fashion that captivates the viewer's attention.

Love this deconstruction. So many elements coming into play to create the beautiful final image, perhaps starting with that amazing pair of boots. They remind me of the movie and stage production Kinky Boots. ❤

That green edge along you, Ms. Adler, what lens are you using that has such chromatic aberration?! Irony.

@@lindsayadlerphoto - I know. Just joking. But, have you actually maybe never seen chromatic aberration in photos? Once you see it, provided it's there, you cannot not see it any longer. No, your image does not have that aberration, but the green edge light gave the association. I love your images and creativity, to be seriously clear.

@@jpdj2715 ahahaha okay I thought maybe. Yeah, I had some old lenses back in the day that had green/magenta around edges of tree branches-- was awful once you saw it. New lenses of course not having that problem. xo

@@lindsayadlerphoto - "of course" applies to your brand. Imagine a studio portrait that I would normally shoot at f/5.6 or f/8, but as a way to soften irregular skin already in camera, I shoot at f/1.4 with a very sharp lens that consequently has a very shallow depth of field. Magenta tinge on the cheek and a bright greenish tinge on the edge of the ear. I migrated to mirrorless with much better lenses in 2019 that did not make me suffer from this any longer. Yes, stopping aperture down made it go away but you buy shallow depth of field to be able to use it. (I'm in the McNally brand camp) That CA and tint differences between different lenses were my recurring rant since 1975. But it was all predictable, and generally manageable, it had worldwide support, but I didn't need that because it never failed.

All those profoto lights add up to a lot of dollars! Do the opticals and gelled bare bulb require the full power? I’m more in the Wescott FJ400 price range on gear. I guess if I shoot at 1200 ISO it would work.
