Honestly, I couldn't even tell that Harumi was nervous. Even though she forgot one minor movement, she didn't let that show in the rest of her performance. Harumi has learned quite well in the 9 months since she began. Bravo!

Yes, that is what seperates the amateur wannabes from true performing artists! We amateurs can't recover from the smallest mistakes and the rest of the performance suffers as a result. But true artists can not only recover but grow from it!

I’m amazed at how the Sensei can do all those moves, but only breath through her nose, and not open her mouth. Her facial expression didn’t look tired at all. Very cool! Harumi was also very beautiful and graceful!

I can easily imagine your daughter's reaction to seeing her mom dressed up special and looking so happy! I remember those seemingly rare occasions that my mom got to dress up for a very special occasion. For a child it's almost like Mommy must be magical! Both performances were wonderful!!!

I think this dance is a perfect example of the culture of Japan that you are seeking to preserve. It combines graceful motions of the feet, hands, head, and even eyes in a pantomime that tells a story. It is very beautiful and I enjoyed it completely. I hope for your success in your quest.

Well done, Harumi. I was like hypnotized... you danced so gracefully and you looked so beautiful. So many moves, and you learned them all in such a short while? To me that only means that you DO have a great talent for this and want to master dancing. Keep following your dream, Harumi...because you do belong there on stage. Wonderful performance. Madam Shizuki "makes" it look so effortless, so fluent... Simply ..beautiful and fantastic

Thank you for being able to share the two dances with us. A rare treat indeed. As for the mistake, that's the sign of a true artist. If you recognize your mistake but the audience doesn't notice. Even gymnasts and figure skaters performing their routines, if they fall or not land a tumble. Move right along don't even draw attention to it. Illustrators and I am sure content creators, do it with the physical or digital medium. To themselves, the flaws are highlighted with a bright spotlight on the mistakes. But for the rest of the world, we are too enamored with the entire performance or piece. Fantastic work. Thank you again. I have two questions though, how does Harumi's family respond to her studying and doing a Japanese cultural dance and what do the white banners/flags/really wide ribbons that her sensei used in hers represent. I know the Koreans use ribbons a lot in their dances, but this was the first time I've seen such wide lengths of fabric used in a dance. To do all of that movement for so long, in a Kimono, and NOT fall on her face. If I was to practice that it would be years before I could master it. Just to get that endurance, coordination, and healing of the bruising/broken noses from tripping myself and making a face plant.
