He literally put MTV on the map, and paved the way for other Black artists. MJ said after the success of Billie Jean, MTV was coming to him for every short film he had. He was truly a pioneer. I was a child back then when i first saw this music video. I still remember the feeling. It was magic dust above my head. I thought I could fly ! It was love at first sight. And I am carrying that feeling inside my heart up to this day. Thank you Michael. Thank you for the magic dust.

I was 7 when this video came out and was in awe of everything lighting up.. still in awe today lol. He was truly brilliant and will be forever missed

this was one of the first videos I watched as a little girl, and along with beat it and thriller, hes been a part of my life ever since, I feel blessed to have been able to see all of Michaels solo career as it actually happened and cant believe where the time has gone!.....miss him so much.

I remember when this video came out back in '83. MJ always had a way of sharing his life in his work, so it took me a while to figure it out. The song is supposedly about groupies, but he can't seem to shake the paparazzi in this video. Michael's ghostly character doesn't escape this guy until the end, as his footsteps light up the sidewalk.

I was born in 1982 but I was pretty much apart of Mtvs second generation and aside from Michael Jackson Mtv played no next to no Black artists this is right on untill the late 80s to early 90s...which is why BET was created. as a black kid the only way I remember seeing black artists in the 80s was Soul Train....because Cable was expensive.
