    Awesome! thanks so much. I am a PC user since the mid 90's-yes I am that old, and I got a Macbook Air and arrogantly thought since I have been using Iphones and Ipads for more years then I can remember, it would be easy. Wrong. I was so frustrated thinking that I was going to have to spend hours trying to learn this thing, I first watched the glidepath video then this one. I feel much better now!

    This tutorial is for the MONTERREY version of the software. If you update to VENTURA the SYSTEM PREFERENCES he's talking about are now SYSTEM SETTINGS and look different (toolbar on the left instead of wide-open page of selections) but if you just take your time and scan the tool bar you'll find the items and click to open the setting options for that facet.

    Hi Dan: My Macbook from 2011 began having problems but it could not be fixed so I bought the MacBook Air. I am 81 years old and was totally confused with the new technology but determined to do it myself. I watched so many videos but still was not confident I would be able to do it until I came across your videos! I watched them over and over until I was familiar enough to do it. I just want to say Thank You. Your step by step explanations are very clear. It is the trackpad that is the most confusing for me. I will watch your video for that but am convinced I need/want a mouse! ( There wasn't any port on the new MacBook for the Logitech mouse I have) Do you have any suggestions there? Please know, however, that I am feeling pretty good about myself now. Thank you, again!!

  • @DHTV

    @DHTV

    Жыл бұрын

    Thank you for this comment, it made my day. So glad my video helped. I believe the trackpad is the hardest to learn with all the features but clicking and basics are easy to learn over time. I use a mouse mostly anyway as I prefer it. As for your mouse, you will probably need an adaptor. Something like a USB C hub. If you search it on Amazon, they have a cable that fits into the usb c port (probably the only port you have) and then attached to the cable is regular USB ports for the mouse and maybe other ports depending on which you buy. If you need help feel free to leave a comment. Just make sure it’s a new comment as it’s near impossible for me to see replies on KZread

    Hi, there. I am a little confused because I bought my MacBook Air M2 in December 2022 so I would've thought that your tutorial would be showing me pretty much what I have here. (Although I suppose there have been updates, haven't there…) It's just that so far the screens that you're showing me are very different from the ones I actually have, and I can't seem to make some of the choices that you are able to here. Is this simply due to updates or is there something else going on? Thank you, by the way. I am a lifelong (well, as long as there were personal computers to be had) PC user and my switch to the Mac has been both wonderful and puzzling. It's good to have some help.

    Hi Dan, I've been using my MacBook Air for a little over a year. Thank you for your helpful videos. I specifically was searching for an answer to a recent problem after an update. I used to be able to work with several open windows at once (similar to the my HP at work) so I could drag files between windows. Suddenly, I seem to be able to only have one open and viewable at a time, while the others are off to the side. Is there a way to keep 2 or more open on my screen at once? Overlapping, I guess is the best way to describe this. Thanks for your reply! Alice

    I just bought the Mac book air m2 and as I was watching your video your screens looked a lot different then mine, for example, in the upper right hand corner when you would click on the battery icon what my MacBook opened was completely different than yours, and there were settings you had that I did not have. I am also struggling to figure out how to download apps from the App Store. For example, when I go into the App Store and I search Amazon, it doesn’t bring up the actual Amazon app. I also am trying to figure out how to delete apps and if there is a way to sync what is on my iPad or iPhone to my MacBook Air. For someone who has always been an apple user I seem to really been struggling with how to set up and use this MacBook.

  • @DHTV

    @DHTV

    The App Store for mac is different so a lot of apps you are used to on say the iPad won’t be there. You have to go to Amazon in safari to access it. As for the settings apple changed the look to be more like iPad and iPhone so that’s why the settings look different now. As for syncing iPad to the Mac, it doesn’t really work other then iCloud stuff.

    Hello, thanks for the tips..how do we get the arrow keys and space bar to act normal like on the MacBook Pro? Is it a settings thing? I tried what is on google about going to keyboard-> shortcuts, but shortcuts is not a setting, its just on and off. So frustrating. I may be wrong but I believe it’s the apps that need to support that. If it’s a 3rd party app and they don’t have very good keyboard support that could be the issue but otherwise there isn’t much that I know of. Again I may be wrong as I barely use the keyboard the same way as I do with my max.

    I have never used Mac-book pro but am getting chance to use 2011 Mac-book pro 17-inch. Can I watch KZread and use MS-office for words and Excel? also can I install few basic, small softwares like CPU-Z, VLC media player, Adobe acrobat reader. can I play old arcade games like Pacman using emulator. Window-7 has an option of playing old games by changing compatibility of the software, is there any similar function in mac-OS?

    There are ways to do most if not all of those things you just need to find the Max version or instructions to do so. Also based on your MacBook specs games may work or not.

    As a man of 60 years old, who never had technology. I don’t have a clue what this guy is saying. It just seems way too complicated. As a retired truck driver, a working man I’m curious but it’s just doesn’t fit into my lifestyle. I have a smart phone, but I can barely use it. It is what it is. My generation did not grow up with technology. It’s easy to do without it.

    The M2 MacAir is basically a piece of c**p. Try disappointed and will likely return. Connected to WI-FI but says it isn't., won't accept passwords and the tale of woe goes on. For $2,000 I'd expect better. Maybe the "Pro" version at an additional $1,000 is better but I'd doubt it. Day 3 and still trying to move data from another older mac.....

    It isn't for everyone but seems based on just what you said in the comment that you are dealing with technical issues. Migrating data from on computer to another is always time consuming. Not sure what issues you are dealing with while trying to transfer the data but I have had many issues with hard drives, PCs, Macs etc trying to do the same thing over the years. I don't defend Apple at all as my M1 MacBook Pro constantly runs out of memory and basically crashes when I am doing simple tasks. This turned out to be a glich, however there is no fix. If you provide more context with your issues I could possibly guide you in the right direction.
