Only in flight sim land could someone know how to fly airliners but have no idea about flying light aircraft, so here I am trying to fill in the gaps, and this video has been really useful!

As a beginner, I really appreciated the explanation that went with each step. Most other videos don’t explain why. Thank you - liked and subscribed.

I know this already, but I always gain something from listening to someone else explain the basics. Can’t get enough of the basics.

Man this takes me back to when I first took flight training, it was my first aircraft. Then I moved on to the 172. I just downloaded this sim and am starting back up using the 152 for my re training period. Still trying to set up controls and get used to commands etc its been a while. Great video thank you sir, enjoying the ride

Nice video. I believe the stall warning opening is on the left wing about 4 feet out. The wing openings you pointed out are cabin air vents.

1:40, those two holes are cabin vents, the stall horn is sitting next to the right (about 1') of the PITOT tube when standing in front of the aircraft.

@@jonbeckett yeah it happens! We can see the stall horn here in your video, there is 4 tiny bolts making a square around its opening, approximately in line with the wing strut fairing. I started my PPL on a 152 and switched over the 172 (such a big improvement in everyway) but now I'm going through multiple flight sims videos since winter is coming in and so flight conditions are forbidding me to take to the sky, I might get a flight sim basic setup so I can keep my knowledge up to date during the winter season. Too bad that MS 2020 only (seems) to offer a 172 with a glass cockpit...

Hi Jonathan. New to flight simulators and currently completing the training. This video has been very helpful as the guide is pretty poor I find on the game, even for a basic plane like this. I really wish the tutorials were better and not have to keep coming to KZread for guidance. I’m about to subscribe and hopefully find a video about how to understand ATC instructions. I did one short normal flight in the Cessna and had no clue what the AI ATC was talking about, squarks and altitude settings etc. Very overwhelming. Anyway, thanks for the video and really loved your great explanations of the flying process and instrument detail. Keep up the good work.

Excellent video, you showed and explained about the instruments, but there were a few other points you could have touched on, like where do you set the flaps, counting out the flaps, other than that, awesome video. I'm a beginner, and because of your explaintion of the instruments, it makes me want to start flying now but, I still have to look at more videos to give me the confidences to start to fly. I am reading the book by Geoffrey Wellum and also read the Yeager book by Chuck Yeager. who broke the sound barrier, great video and experiencing your vast knowledge ! While lowering the flaps during the approach, the nose should pitch up noticeably unless counteracted by ample forward yoke pressure. I didn’t see that happening here.

So close on most of the information, have you gone up in a 152, if not what is holding you back? You could take a simple discovery flight with a local flight school just to see what she actually feels like. Your knowledge is ahead of the normal first time pilot but you will have some polishing to do on a few items. No worries though, you'll have checklists to ensure you don't miss anything. From a SIM background I'm impressed with what you know and share with others who are flight curious. I regularly fly the 152 on the SIM and in real life. MSFS does a great job of replicating how it feels but there is definitely some tuning to do depending on your sim gear. Kudos on your effort here!

I'm honestly surprised that Cessna stopped making the C152. Apparently the C152 was and still is extremely popular with flight schools and I'm guessing that they were cheaper than the C172.

G'day Johnathan , as for beginners I think yours is one of the best , I've learnt so much just from watching only one so far . But can I ask ? How did you get those flaps to work ?

not a magnetic compass.. it is a gyroscopic heading indicator. Magnetic compass is a backup and usually placed somewhere else. Magnetic compasses does not handle banking turns well, hence the use of a gyroscopic driven heading indicator. They drift over time, and you have to align it with the magnetic compass at startup. The magnetic compass is at the center of the windscreen.

Yeah, No --- those holes near the windscreen are NOT the stall warning. The stall warning vent is on the left wing just about where the strut meets the wing. Those holes you point to are the air vents for the cockpit

I have just bought this game on xbox series x. Got so lost with it and this starter plane thank you for this video. Well made and the relaxed explanations have really made me want to learn more thank you. What controller do you advise? flying with a pad there are too many controllers. Please do more beginner videos. I don't understand taxing properly or how to talk to atc. Wish there a career in game something to achieve, like euro truck simulator, delivery cargo. or missions. I'm having trouble with the climb & turn attitude test I have all A's & B's before this last one! they tell you what to do but not how & or why you put the plane in danger. I'm using the Thundermaster 16000m fcs Hotas joystick & throttle set quadrant and it has a throttle button fitted onto the unit as well as 16 action buttons seems ok not using the separate throttle and saves room on the desk! I also have the Logitech yoke & throttle but I think the joystick is a little easier and also give me more room have you got a vid that includes these monoverse? or have I missed it? I've watched this video to the end twice so I might have a better idea by not using the rudder I should pay more attention cheers for all your posts the more you watch the more you pick up and see something different each time.

Where is the stall? The airspeed on short final indicated less than 40 mph.

I'm confused, why do the runway entrance markings indicate 15L and 33R if it's runway25?

I'm supposed to get my copy of MSFS 2020 today. Can't wait to (faux) fly again!

Anyone tipps for the sensitivity? Especially the pitch is way too sensitiv and twitchy. Even on -50.

Great explanation, I have yet to purchase Flight Sim I want to buy the Amazon download for the pc, bit nervous in case there is a problem though.

The best way to buy flightsim is direct from Microsoft. Run the XBox App on your PC (which will use your Microsoft account), and then buy it within that app. Then whatever computer you have in the future, you can re-download / re-install whenever you want.

Very new too this, but turned everything on and it's showing no fuel ?

You gained a subscriber. Appreciate the attention to detail in the explanations. Do recommend investing in a SIM for beginners? How did we live/survive without KZread? Thanks a lot for posting.

MSFS is a great simulator - and with recent weather and realism updates, has become perhaps the most accurate (according to real GA pilots). The basic skills you learn operating an aircraft in a "real" situation will stand you in good stead for any other simulator or real aircraft. Muscle memory all the way.

Hi, do you fly with a sidestick? And if so, what are your sensitivity settings in sim? My joystick is really sensitive when flying cessna and I would really like to know is it normal or, if not, mayby try to change sensitivity, so it would fly better.

My joystick sensitivity is slightly flattened in the centre, but not too much.

where can i get that map you are using it looks like its live imformation like a gps is that free to download becuase im trying to learn the navigation without taxi ribbons turned on lo . and that would really help me. thanks for the video very helpful hope to hear back from you.

Most people say 60 knots, but it depends on the wind :)

Are you using a Hotas controller? I think I saw one in one of your older videos? Which one do you recommend? I'm looking for something under $200.00 usd that is good for starting out but the ones in that price range have mixed reviews on Amazon.

Beacons must be ON before engine start.

Hi, in several manuals is stated that cruise speed would be 100 knots at 2300 rpm, maybe 2400. There is no way I could ever achieved that configuration. At full throttle, close to it. Is that a flaw of MSFS's, or is there other variable I'm no taking into account?

I have no idea. I've spoken to several real-world 152 pilots that did their training in them, and they say it's remarkably accurate.

I did my PPL in the 152 and at a cruise setting of 2300rpm it would sit around 90 KIAS. I’m yet to have a go in the sim but looking over these videos it seems pretty accurate 👍🏻

at around 2:15 you are pointing to the air intake and calling it the stall warning ??? Small but very important mistake

God job but u miss something at the start when u went to start the engine u ALWAYS MUST HAVE THE BEACON LIGHT ON AND YELL CLEAR so people know u about to start the engine

Didn't hear a "Clear Prop!"

This creator closes by saying, "so that's pretty much it..." except... it isn't. THere isn't a single moment here that shows the new MSFS user how to configure the settings (of which there are over 100 to consider, depending on which controls - yoke, pedals, etc. - you are using. This information is implied, and necessary, but completely left out.
