As an actual pilot, this is a wonderful explanation. In fact this is just like a flight lesson in a real airplane.

Had a friend that learned how to fly on FS. Then took actual lessons. He's now a pilot.

This tutorial series should be an official one. Really. There is no one better than Squirrel teaching it.
This guy should teach in real life. His voice is so relaxing

Id like to understand getting off the ground, working with Air Traffic Control and understanding what they are talking about. I cant wait to see all these videos and learn 🔥🔥🔥
I absolutely adore this game. I’ve just bought a Series S just for it. I started off landing like I’d just stolen a prop plane from the GTAV airport 😂 but I’m getting better now 💪✈️😍

I bought the Series S just for this game also. Only my second foray into the Xbox ecosystem. I had the first Xbox(2001 ish), and now I have a Series S. Of course the first console I ever bought was a Telstar gaming system, which I got in 78. So I've been at this a long time.

@@Del-Canada my 1st experience with games was early 80’s and Spectrum 48k 👌
Commenting a bit late on this I know but a couple things: First, Great video! Someone should pay this man to be an instructor. Secondly, with the Xbox I've found the throttle to be the most difficult thing to manage, particularly when using the cockpit view. I rectified this by using a wireless USB keyboard and assigning throttle percentages to the number keys. 1 is 10%, 2 is 20% and so on with 0 being 100%. This has revolutionized my landings. Note that by default those keys control ATC responses. I cleared those. I use a wireless mouse for that. Hope this helps anyone who's interested.
As a younger guy this is pretty much how I was taught by the RAF in a Cessna 152. Best days, ever! I'm now reliving my past in FS 2020 on my Series X. So happy! 😁

What yoke do you use for xbox series? I bought one but returned it due to lack of yoke and throttle sets. I was only using the xbox controller.

Personally I think you’re better off with a stick than a yoke imo
Dude please tell me this is a series!! Awesome tutorial 👌
What a great starter! 💙💙💙 Can't imagine a more logic approach to the topic, on point and entertaining...
There are some people that are just made for teaching and you take that position. Very patient, very precise clear choice of words no rushing to execute an example. I respect these videos a lot. They are helping me in flight sim very greatly!
Just started on the MSFS, I cannot over emphasize how much I have benefitted from these superbly presented videos. The training that is included with the FS is nowhere near adequate , many thanks for the time and care you have put in to this.

I agree, the in-game training is very disappointing. It feels like a rushed afterthought and taught me more or less nothing. I certainly didn't learn enough to do my own flights successfully.
As a beginner in MFS, this video was excellent, thank you so much for taking the time to explain each step in detail. Super well done!
Just found a couple of your videos on landings and I really appreciate the great tips you provide! Being a newbie, 66-year-old MFS pilot trainee, I think your tips have already helped a bit smoothing out my relationship with Mother Earth. Subscribed!
Having flown for a weather modification program (not the pilot, just a copilot not accruing hours) in western Kansas, a lot of this rings true. You can tell you are a true pilot Squirrel. Nice work.
Really enjoyed this as well as the take off video, as someone new to flying sims but with a huge interest in aviation this is pure gold!
Finally a good tutorial, this was actually really helpful! I was doing so many things wrong when flying and landing but this just cleared everything up. Please make another video about the next important things about this game. There’s so much more to it 🙏
One of the best, clearest and most informative MSFS tutorials i have ever seen. Thanks!
Your videos are incredibly helpful while also being calming. Well done. Thank you.
Absolutely the best discussion of the important elements of a good approach and landing that I have ever heard; I have my Pilots Certificate and IFR rating as well as more years of experience than I want to admit to, so I think I can have an informed opinion. Really. Really well done. Like everything else that we do, understanding the fundamentals and using those skills everyday is the way we improve. So thanks for this video. I’ll be sending lots of friends over to your channel. And I’ve liked and subscribed. Thanks again.
This is the best tutorial on not only landing but trimming as well! Thank you and keep it up!
I love these videos. Please do more for Xbox with different planes and scenarios. They are really helpful for us newbies.
You have the best voice for this kind of stuff!! So calm and clear. Great stuff.
Wow!!!! I love flying. I get goose bumps just watching these videos. Just picked up FS yesterday for my XBOX X and I love it. Flew over my house and parents and it’s amazing. Still getting used flying w the controller since I’m waiting for the new Turtle Beach flight toll to release. Thanks for the pro tips and yes…I agree with the last guy…you should teach if you don’t already!
It's been an absolute pleasure listening to you. Thank you for these brilliant tutorials.
I wish you the actual one giving lessons in the game. This was exactly what I needed, thank you!
Thankyou for your videos! You've made the experience of MS Flight Sim all the more enjoyable
I really love your way of explaining things. It takes account of the knowledge people have or don't have, and you explain very clearly every step with easily understandable reasoning for every instruction, all really great! The only thing that my very literal brain struggles with is when the plane is a few inches above ground and you say to wait for it to "fall out of the sky"... out of the sky??? It gets me every time!
Your guidance and tutoring towards the MSFS is brilliant, thank you! I've invested in a home-sim set up and can enjoy your teachings at my leisure before venturing out one day into the world real of flying lessons. I think your airfield location is not far, so when I do, I'll look out for you!
You are my newest find on youtube. Amazing, keep it up. Im brand new to MSFS and im already looking at buying yokes and sinking many many hours just flying.
Some folk are just naturally talented and have that ease of delivery to natural explanation. You explained this so well you made me want to buy the game. Absolute masterclass! Bravo 👏👏👏
best tutorial I've seen so far, helped me a lot with landing. thanks 😊
Love your videos as you explain in detail and then give examples. Keep up good work buddy 👍
Thanks a lot. Your takeoff and landing videos will really give us a great start into this game.
Brilliant video Squirrel. You master the ability of teaching without patronising - thank you.
This is the best beginners video I've seen so far. As a beginner myself this made a lot more sense then other videos I've seen
Excellent video, many thanks. I can't wait to try this.
Thanks Squirrel!! That was a fantastic little tutorial. Nailed my landing first time round. Can't wait to get a flight controller.
Really loved the video man, out all of the different ones I’ve seen this not only describes what to do but the reason behind it. Really loved it! If you want any suggestions for other videos, I would really love to see the process of starting a Cessna from a cold start and actually taking it off from the cockpit view. Or explaining takeoff and landing from other planes like a Boeing 777 and others. REALLY NICE VIDEO.
That was a breathtakingly wonderful flight and an excellent video and tutorial. I am a total noob (at age 78) to sims and flying and don´t know what I´d do without your videos. Many thanks indeed.

A 78 year old who knows how to correctly use the word "noob” is a win in my books.
Thank you Squirrel. I just got back to flight when FS20 came. Had forgotten many techniques, particularly trimmed slow descent. Tried this tutorial with the 172 on my PC. Greased it first shot after one go-around. Amazing how the bird touches down with my hands off the stick.
This is the BEST landing tutorial I have seen. Very well explained. Thank you so much.
Thank you for your excellent presentation. It's easily followed, clear and precise and greatly appreciated for an absolute beginner sim pilot
Awesome vid! Thanks so much! Really learned a lot from this and like some other people are saying in the comments, this is more informative than the in game tutorial. The more I figure this game out the more I like it.
I did it!!! 👏🏽 I’m playing flight sim for the first time today and managed to take off and land using these brilliant tutorials. Thank you so much
Thanks again Squirrel, another great guide.
This was the best video I seen on here. Liked and subbed
Brilliant instruction. Thank you for sharing.
Good to see you back flying cheeknut👍🏼👍🏼
I've just bought my xbox series s . Found your chanel. And going all in. Keep up the good work.
I’m so glad I found this video, thanks a lot man🙏🙏
You can also program the nav to give you a good approach as the default route is a straight line with no thought given to landing, use auto pilot and set your altitude. Once you get to final approach press the approach button and it should guide you down nice and straight. All you gotta do is manage speed and pull back on yoke when you’re about to touch down. Doing it this way also gets you a achievement. The cessna 172 is probably the easiest to program the navigation system on
Absolutely brilliant- thanks so much for these!
Love the tutorial style, keep it up!
I wish i had found this clip sooner - it’s massively improved my landings. Thank you
This information is so good, I actually come here than my Sporty's Flight School tutorials. Thank you, absolutely brilliant.
This is brilliant. Thanks mate.
Fantastic - this is a real help. Thank you
I’m getting my Xbox in a few days I’m so hyped, super helpful thank you!!!
Just got my X box. Cannot believe how good this guy teaches stuff. Really helping me, and i am training for my PPL.
I watch all your trucking videos. You are a damn good teacher my friend.
Thank you, fantastic tutorial, easy to follow and very effective, my controlled crashes have now turned into controlled landings since following the advice here.
Will try this tomorrow thanks for your help so much 🎮
This is so great. Thanks @Squirrel
This is probably the best explanation I’ve heard in all my career of flight simming. Altho guys please remember, skil is the thing you need. Even when I was really skilled but had a 3 month break, and my landings were all over the place. Practice is everything.

Brilliant tutorial mate. It helped me out massively. Thanks Squirrel 👍
Thank you, this video sounds so helpful. Will definitely try out your tips when I eventually manage to buy a series x😁
Hi Spuirrel, It is a very good tutorial footage you offered, I have seen all of your You tube concerning the MSFS 2020 flight, they are very instructive for learning simulating flights, I have no problem with take-off but always struggling between trimming and throttle control in landing, now I got more clearly ideas on their relations, I am now learning the cj4 landing, although there are different needs in the speed, but the basic are the same, thank you for the knowledge you offered, yes, practice! practice! practice!
I haven't watched this video past 1 minute yet--but I'm playing with a controller and I came here precisely because I was having difficulties landing my Cessna with a A grade. And in the first seconds I hear you mention you have an earlier video about HOW TO SET UP MY CONTROLLER. Which I have been so frustrated with because I know I have issues with how the thumbstick goes from deadzone to STALL PITCH in 0.5 seconds flat, and I could kiss you for anticipating this content need and directing me where I need to go. Now I'll go to that video and watch that first. And then this one. Take my subscription.
These are brilliant. Thanks so much!
Woah thanks dude i needed this.
Great series of videos. I was able to take off and land first try after watching!
What a great video. Subscribed. When I finally manage to get the Series X, and MFS2020 I will be coming back to this video. Can't wait to have a go.
Thank you for taking time to explain in details how to do landing .
subbed. about an hour and a half away from launch. this is exactly what i needed.
Just got my XSX and wanted to test MSFS and by surprise I'm instantly hooked. And you sir are a true help for a newbie like me. New subscriber.

Amazing tutorial!
@Squirrel, thanks for an excellent tutorial!
Superb tutorial... Cheers.

Great tutorial
Thanks, dude. Found this very helpful.
Great tutorial!
I love your teaching, it's so clear. Never understood the difference between 'trim' and 'flaps'. Thank you so much. I can't play this until midnight tomorrow as I'm working till late.......ggrrrrrrrr. Stay safe.
@Baleur

One thing to add about flaps. They can also be used to quickly lose altitude if you're coming in way too high and your plane doesnt have speed brakes. Basically use the flaps as speed brakes, to allow you to point down at the target, lose a heck of a lot of altitude, without gaining too much speed. I once went from 12k feet to 2k feet when i was on final approach this way. It's dicey, but a great trick.

i aske my wife what the difference was between flaps and trim , her answer was quite simple really , she said if i have the clippers in my hands you will get a trim. She then said for flaps , you will have to wait until later
