I'm 71 years old and have wanted to learn the guitar for ages. 40 years ago I played bass (Fender Precision) in a country rock band, which would have been the perfect time for free guitar lessons! But I never did it. Now, we are coming up on the rainy season in the Pacific Northwest and there's that Covid thing going on as well, so I thought I'm gonna do it. I bought a Yahama FG800, recommended by a guitar collector friend, and I've learned 3 chords from your videos. It's hard to make my fingers do what they're supposed to do, but I'm gonna keep at it. Love your videos!

Once about 16 years ago I tried to play Swing Life Away using your video and got so discouraged because I was young and dumb and thought I should be getting it right away. Fast forward to today. I've been learning with that same Swing Life Away video I watched when I was 16 and using these absolutely wonderful lessons! You are helping me to be able to play a song, with no history of playing music, as a surprise for my wife for our 10 year anniversary in September. Thank you so much Marty ❤❤️

Thanks Marty, All my friends at school (1950's - 60's) were into guitars. So, what the hell am I doing this for now, well we've got COVID lockdown in Australia. ALDI had guitars real cheap. I bought one and procrastinated. Now I have a tuning app. on my 'phone so the instrument is close to tuned. As Lennon said "I've got blisters on my fingers". Another story for you there was a guy at school who was always on his guitar. One day I was walking past his house, he was out sitting on his garden wall working on his guitar. I said "Guitar, guitar is all you ever do. Where's that going to get you?" The guy is Andy Summers of 'The Police'.

Man I gotta tell you I have paid for stupid apps and I really have always wanted to play guitar and teach my daughter as she is 3 and loves her guitar . as a father you wanna be a role model and teach them the right way to do things . I have struggle learning it though I just started and know nothing . Just off the first lesson you did I practiced everyday for 20mins wether after work or what not I just make time even if it’s for 5 minutes. I got lesson 1 down good I know that’s probably easy for most but it’s very intimidating and it feels good to accomplish that . I have learned a lot from you in 15mins then I have paying 100$ a month for apps and everything else so I just wanna say thank you . Your really helping people out here or least you helped me and I can’t tell you enough how your time is appreciated showing us thank you .

It's difficult until you develop calluses on your fingertips, but there's only one way of doing that. Keep at it. Until then, take it very slow and after you make a shape to play a chord, play each individual string to diagnose and adjust your finger positions.

Anyways, I started playing at 15-16 and got pregnant young and quit playing sadly. I’m now around 50 years old and decided I’m going to play my other brother’s guitar (he is deceased) but I had two brothers who played and my oldest son’s father. He taught me electric guitar like riffs and flat pick. I never got to officially learn so THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR KINDNESS IN GIVING BACK TO THOSE WHO REALLG WANT TO LEARN! I completed 2 lessons today and I think I’m on my way! Unfortunately I don’t remember a lot I learned back when younger. I won’t forget this time because I never plan on quitting!! Thanks again! 👍🏼🎸🎶❤️

Just got my first real 6-strings... for 40th birthday from my wife xD Now I'm trying to kick off with some youtube tutorial for beginners. I went through several courses, most of the time they try to teach you 4 basic chords like G, C, D, Em and encourage to practice switching between. I find it frustrating for the very beginner. This is the first video showing that you can have fun with only 2 super easy chords and be almost like David Gilmour xD It's after midnight and I can't wait for the morning so that I can try it out :)

I live in northern Ireland, and am stuck at home due to the Corana virus, so at 51 started to learn the acoustic, I find your lessons great, and structure is easier than a few others I've tried I seen your video about the guitar buddy and will invest in one of these and use it to get patterns down as well as practicing my chords, I only wish I'd seen your video on choosing my guitar first, as my action is very high and needs lots of pressure, so when I can get out I'm looking at getting this lowered so thank you for keeping me same and stay safe bud
