Before You RAGE QUIT FANATEC SQ and buy a SimVertex Shifter, Watch This!

Ойындар

Hey guys, I decided to try this shifter out to see how it compares to my pro-sim and the lower end shifters I've had in the past. The pricing on this shifter is anywhere from 600 - 700, so my expectations are high. Have a look at the result of several weeks of use! Make sure you stick around until the end for the overview of the flaw in this shifter.

Hi. I know this is a couple years old. I had the same issue with the rods seizing. It was caused by a warped baseplate that twisted the entire assembly. The baseplate warped because I over-torque'd the bolts that secured the baseplate to the mount. If the attaching surface isn't solid and perfectly flat (which mine was not) and you over torque the bolts - the baseplate twists and the rods bind up. I backed off on those bolts, and problem solved. But ya, I rebuilt the thing a couple of times before I figured it out. The baseplate is soft. I don't know off hand if it's aluminum or steel, but it's soft.

Hahaha love the shirt! Thanks for the review, I hadn't heard of this. Im a little surprised the use such a long shaft. A shorter shifter results in a shorter throw and more force required to get the thing into gear or into each gate, which sounds like it would solve the problems you had. It's' not as good as internal adjustability. But if you made it 2-3 inches shorter it would likely feel quite a bit better.

@UC9KyvQlL7cgnG03NPcqzbPw yes there is more travel for reasons you mentioned but I don't know how much the long shaft affects the throw feel versus the design of the shifter. What I mean by that is if the length was shortened by 25%, the throw should still be long due to the cutouts location for the balls to sit in. It's a complicated inquiry since I don't know the math (nor do I care to find out) for overall throw length by means of shaft modification vs, moving the ball notches closer to each other. I have an extensions for my prosim, but due to the design, the throw length doesn't feel dramatically different. I should have articulated that thought a little better, will try to be more clear next time.

I used it all, if you notice the blue tone to the rubber bushings, that is evidence of a previous lube effort by myself (3rd time). Either way, its mechanically flawed and needs some machining to function properly.

The big reason the Fanatec shifter still is the best for me is simply because what it offers at its price point is simply ridiculous. Seamlessly switching between H-pattern and Sequential modes is a must have for me because I sandbox around with a lot of different cars. Even though the durability and sequential mode could both be improved, the H-pattern portion is really good IMO. I busted over 700 hours of use into that shifter without missing a heartbeat although I can definitely feel the wear, but I'm a happy camper.
