    As a woman i think these are important questions. However the last one, i dont know about that. Find a less intrusive way to say it because up untill that time that woman has dressed up for herself, if you ask her this, even a woman that's already modest in her dressing will be wary of you. wary of the fact that we aren't even married and he's already trying to control me, who knows wt happens next, maybe he's one of those super controlling guys. This is how women think. So try finding a way to test or question her without being direct about it. A woman is an emotional being, you might just make her feel trapped and she might withdraw. You are analyzing her but she's also analyzing you, your tone, your behaviour everything.

    The most important question you should ask for your to be wife is (Do you pray, are you willing to learn and grow in faith with me, Is it ok for you to accept me earning this much money, (standard living cost, etc) tell her you don't want a big nikah and if she agrees, you want to make the nikah simple and halal. From there, enjoy the journey as husband and wife to get closer to Allah. This is me speaking from personal experience, this is what I did. There is no perfection in marriage, you will struggle but it is how you both can come together to solve it. The best is to advise each other and stand together in remembrance of Allah Subhanawataala.

    Allah literally uses the word obedient for woman's roles to their husbands in the Qur'an. Yes, she is not a child, but a man is the leader of the family. How is he supposed to lead the family if he is not sure whether his wife will listen to him or not? The Prophet SAW said that obedience to one's husband is one of the four things that a woman can do to guarantee entry into paradise.

    It’s very sad that in fact men just look for beauty and they don’t even care about a person’s good habits. My husband left me and our child for another woman inspite of me being in hijab, religious, respecting him and his family. And for second marriage also men just want good looks and woman who is much much younger than them. No one wants a nice and caring person. No one wants responsibility only fun! So they want the woman to work also and take care of her expenses. At least this is what I have seen.

    A man who is NOT her husband has absolutely no right to expect her to be 'obedient' to him. Dogs are 'obedient' not women. He could mention that the dress seems to be not as modest as her other clothes & the same with the makeup. You cannot TELL her to take it off. You can just mention it politely & see what she does. I would NEVER allow my daughter to marry anyone so controlling who seems to think he can usurp her father's role. THAT, on the part of a man indeed is disrespectful.

  • @ahabarhossain773

    @ahabarhossain773

    No, this is not disrespectful at all. The whole point of the Islamic way of marital engagement involves the potential spouses getting to know one another and whether either of them is prepared for marriage. In Islam, the man is undoubtedly the leader of the family and it is incumbent upon the wife to be obedient to her husband. And yes, we will use the word obedient because that is what Allah says in the Holy Qur'an. Yes, a wife has rights and a marriage is based on love and mercy and it is haraam for a man to abuse his wife, but a wife is in general obliged to obey her husband in all permissible matters. The Prophet SAW emphasized obedience to a husband as one of the four things that a woman can do to guarantee entry into paradise. So yes, it is perfectly fine for a man to ask such a question for his potential wife because this is what is expected of an Islamic marriage. Him not being her current husband is irrelevant because he has come to be a potential husband. It may make some women uncomfortable but that doesn't mean that you can disobey your husband. Likewise, it is perfectly fine for a woman to ask her potential husband if he is willing to financially provide for every single necessity within the family because in Islam, it is a man's responsibility. Should the woman be seen as "money obsessive" and "greedy" when she asks such questions? No! This is her right to be financially provided for. If the man or the woman are uncomfortable or not able to currently uphild their obligations ordained for them by Allah within a marriage, then they shouldn't be getting married in the first place!

    Even "disobedient" women deserve to be married. Many Niqabis ended up opening everything and many uncovered women end up covering and even leaving their mixed careers. These are not good questions to ask. What is more critical is understanding the Aqeeda and having a common goal and understanding of what a family means and what is roles are required from each partner. Far too many good people are not married these days and the Fitna is rampant because of these Bid3ah standards. A woman can be married for her beauty, her wealth/career/connections, her name/ethnic tribe, and lastly her deen (which actually refers to her way of life..not her PhD in Shariah for example). We need to look long term and to solve the problems at hand.

    @@sanane66543 Don't confuse otger religions and cultures with Islam. There is no Quranic proof which says women should submit to their husbands. Men and women in the eyes of Allah are equals (except for the man's duty to be a spender/provider and characteristics specific to men like 9n average height). Very few Hadeeths talk about the virtue of a wife's obedience - but that is limited to acts of worship and sex. She has a say on how things are ran in her house and marital affairs is not aupposed to be a mute follower. Let me remind you in the Seerah..The Prophet's wife Khadija (pbuthem) was a wealthy business owner with Caravans stretched from Byzantea to Abyssinia. That's like owning and running DHL and all their fleets in addition to supplying goods and workforces ...like owning and running Walmart. She was not the humble mumble type. Neither was Aisha pbuh..a woman who never shyed to express her distate or jealousies publicly to the Prophet pbuh. Also, Islam made women on a level plane as men when Allah commanded to stop the murder of young girls and to allow women to give equal Bay3ah (voting rights) where a woman's vote is equal to a man's vote. Its only in giving testimony (court) where women are asked to be in twos because many women might get nervous and forget, so her friend or other companion can remind her and affirm what had occured. We Muslimahs are not obliged to obey husbands who are not Godly or in a state of diaobedience to God. We are not obligated to obey no one but Allah and our parents/leaders. Anything beyond that is Shirk...why would women obey a man who can divorce them anytime and be a complete stranger? We are not Christians or Jews bound by an eternal covenant to our husbands or else face damnation ıf we leave them. Alhamdulillah for Islam and the dignity and flexibility is brings where women are agreeable towards men by free will without subjugation because the men themselves are virtuous, caring, and exemplary as was the Propher pbuh.

    Yeah I have LOTS of problems with the last q, tho it may be for reasons that are very specific to my own circumstances. I used to be married, my ex was very jealous and he would be upset if I dress up and wear makeup when we go out for anything even work. Consider that I already wore very minimal makeup to begin with and my clothes are modest and not form fitting. It got to a point that he even makes a big deal about me doing regular skincare. I became very drab and unkempt just bcs I am tired of having to argue for my self care EVERY SINGLE TIME. And guess what? Our marriage ended because he cheated with a girl who wears a pound of makeup and dresses like a hoochie. There were other reasons that already weaken the bond between us, but the infidelity was the last straw. So my take on this is that a person who is excessively jealous and restrictive of my looks would very likely be the cheater himself. So if I were asked this question, I would run out the door before you can demand an answer. No sir, thank you. Good luck in your future endeavors. Byeeeee.

    If a sister says she sleeps through fajr, that wouldn't necessarily be a red flag for me. Waking up for fajr can be difficult art times and so you may miss it but still have the intention to have prayed. The whole point of marriage is to help your other half to wake up for fajr if they struggled to do so before marriage. 💕

    I’m Muslimah Alhamdulilah. But I only pass 1 of these prompts lol. Remember, women want respect too. You shouldn’t ‘tell’ someone what to do especially if they aren’t your family. You can make a request and explain yourself and she can make a decision . You have to build trust before expecting someone to follow you. Also- some fathers turn out to be monsters. Hear the story before you judge someone.

    @@mynmeisname4825 The point about the father is question 2. Regarding the last point - honestly , it depends how he asks. In this scenario, the man and woman aren’t married and the man is asking the woman to change her outfit/ makeup. The man is gauging whether or not this woman is a fit for him but don’t forget , the woman is also gauging the man to see if he’s a fit for her . Does he speak with love, tenderness ? Or is he demanding and controlling ? For me , I’ll happily oblige anyone ( friends family husband ) who treats me with respect and consideration vs a robot that must obey every command no matter what.

    This is absolutely true. We fixed my brothers marriage and set the date. Since my brother was practicing Islam he wanted the marriage to be very simple and easy but of course the girl’s family refused. Just before 2/3 weeks of the set date we caught the entire family lying about her past and when we confronted they shamelessly counter attacked. Instead of apologising they demanded apology from us. The girl would rudely reply to my brother that he is not yet her husband and she is not answerable to him any more. Seeing this and how much my brother was depressed we decided to cancel the marriage and two days later the girl calls and accept that they lied and my brother said since you created this mess you resolve it and he forgave her but her family was too proud to do that too. We ended the entire thing and alhumdolillah we later learned the facts about their family and glad he was saved from a really bad situation. وَیَمْكُرُوْنَ وَ یَمْكُرُ اللّٰهُؕ وَاللّٰهُ خَیْرُ 🤲🏻

    Ask him, 1) what makes a good husband 2) a good father 3) about his relationship with his father and mother 4) his daily routines and what sort of friends he hangs around with. (Because prophet Muhammad (saw) said, "show me your friend and I'll tell you the type of person you are"). 5) send many children inside the room, and test their patience. Ask about their interactions with the opposite gender. 6) their temperament. 7) once you ask a question, observe their way of answering. 8) if he has a sister in law, how is his relationship with her? 9) the most important, ask him about his ibadah, which mosque he goes to, to pray. 10) how would he like to raise his children. What input he'd like to have. (The reason I mention this is because, once you have children, your life takes a 360degree turn. You see the world through your children. That's when the reality kicks in, and you ask yourself if you've made the right decision in marrying the right person.

    The last question to me is controlling. After she's already made herself up to go out with YOU, for you to say take it off is a hit in the guts. Especially since she thinks she is being modest enough. If a man I'm considering marriage with asked this, I would be wary of him. Maybe asking "if I was uncomfortable with you going out wearing a certain outfit, would you stop wearing it out for me?" In essence the same, but more gently worded. These things matter. I would then ask the man what exactly do you consider immodest, and we would have a discussion to see if we're aligned. Having someone dictate to me how I should dress just doesn't go well in my mind.

    so if your husband said to you "i'm going clubbing with some women", and you say no. And then he says you can't tell me what to do. Is this controlling behaviour? If he asks you nicely and politely that he isn't comfortable with you going out with those clothes, and your reaction is "you can't tell me what to wear! and you don't control me!". It is YOU that lacks respect and humility to say "I respect and trust my husband and he knows what is best for me, so I am going to listen to him". Has nothing to do with wanting to assert control. It's not an unreasonable request to not want your wife going out in public with crop-tops. You can't force anybody to do anything from a technical sense. But people have boundaries in what they will tolerate in one another.
