Hardshell pants are pure function. I have Gore-Tex Paclite rain pants, and the key to their use is in the name, they're lightweight and packable. They stay in the bag, if it starts to rain, they go over the regular pants, kinda like taking your jacket off when you go inside and putting it back on over your regular clothes when you're back in the elements.

Dude likes the samurai looking shell pants. Also an akira fan. Shocking.

I like using trash bags rubber banded to my legs over my base layer ... Cheap and rolls up small and it actually works compared to rain gear u can buy

Can I ski and snowboard in softshell pants (black diamond dawn patrol)? Or should I get hardshell pants?

Outdoor Research Ferrosi pants are freaking awesome. They are technically a softshell material but they're thin enough you can add insulation under them for colder days, or just rock normal undies.

Think I'll choose softshell and then slip on over trousers for complete waterproofing

As far as i know there are slightly stretchy hard shell fabrics in existence and there is also stretchy seam tape. Am no expert in this area though. I still don't own any pair of light shell pants - still using either cotton cargo pants or highly breathable synthetic pants that re really quick drying. Should get a pair of softshell pants on a high priority as soon as fall/winter comes along.

Pertex Shield+ membrane clothing have a noticeable amount of stretch and are 20k/20k.

Reindee lusion Steven cargos count as hardshell? Or lightshell?

Queima lighthtshell forsure. Not sure about the stretch haven’t owned one but by the pics and composition I’m guessing light shell.

definitely hardshell snowboarding pants for the outer layer and some fleece for inner layer

For me Dryskin offered enough water resistant for everyday wear and also has the stretch and breathability necessary for comfort

callum russell I’ve had different weights of dry skin and it’s varied for me, I did like how the p-10ds didn’t have any fleece lining really, dry skin is very comfortable against skin even without a liner

I agree with the hard shell. I had a pair jogging pants and they were so uncomfortable . I had to get rid of them
