took a bird in the front of my face shield at 50mph. 1977 helmet tech. I was 22 yo. Going home from my night shift at 5:45 am. Crashed into a ditch. First woman that found me just screamed and took off. First cop that showed up refused to give me a mirror. You just recover and ride again.

@stilldajoker My late dad rode a bike for about 38 years and never had a major accident. He had cool nerves and quick responses, but also believed that speed or power saved his life and / or his bike a number of times. He got arthritis in both thumb ball-joints, though, which had to be fused. He lost his ability to control a bike safely and quit riding. For about 2 years afterward, he would still lean into corners in the passenger seat of the car. My dad was disappointed when I got a bike in my late 20s. He never said anything, but I knew it. I was a big drinker in those days. I had one minor slip on the bike in wet weather with 3 or 4 wine bottles tucked into my T-shirt. I didn't break one bottle or get cut up like I deserved for doing something so stupid, but when I sobered up, I sold my bike. I still miss my bike, but most of my biker friends are no longer with us anymore, so even though I don't drink anymore, I doubt I have the reactions to safely ride the dangerous streets of Johannesburg any more. I remember those 70s helmets, I also wore them back then as a passenger on my dad's bike. I doubt they were safety tested at all then. I drive a car now, but I always keep an eye out for bikers.

@@robert-trading-as-Bob69 You're a smart man with good discipline. People seriously underestimate just how dangerous riding is even in the safest places under the safest conditions, survivor bias is a real thing. I have fun, but overall consider myself almost as safe as I could possibly be, I'm super attentive, I've done the rider courses, I don't take bad risks, and even then... almost everyday someone almost accidentally seriously hurts me with their driving.

@kaio37k My dad rode a motorbike for around 35 to 40 years without a major life-changing accident. The few bad ones he couldn't avoid didn't leave more than a scratch on him. The closest he came to physical injury was a situation with 2 guys aggressively attacking my dad after the car pulled out in front of my dad. My dad was very short but had been a very successful boxer in his youth. It also helped that he took out the first big guy by hitting him in the head with his helmet. When the Johannesburg Traffic Police got there, they laughed at the two bloodied motorists. My dad got a warning against using his helmet, though. That was the 1970s for you.

Thank you very much for sharing bro @Moto Madness and thank you guys for the overwhelmingly nice feedback! The rider suffered some nasty injuries but has great chances for full recovery now. His spine and head are okay which is most important and the rest will heal over time✌️👍 If you ever experience anything like this, just take control and do not let the crash victim make any decisions or any unnecessary movements. As long as they can talk to you they can breathe and that’s as good as it gets. Our guy wanted us to help him sit up, but if we did that, his lungs would get totally wrecked by the broken ribs. Honestly, I was mostly worried about his spine, but it turns out the real danger were the broken ribs. Therefore less is more and it’s better to just stabilize the patient and comfort them until arrival of professionals rather than be too active and mess up. That’s my take from this experience. Also, watch DanDanTheFireman channel for education and prevention👌 Hope none of us will ever have to experience anything like this anymore, ride safe and be safe!❤️🙏

I showed your clip to him and he says its one of the best examples of first response from a civilian that he's ever seen. He said that by keeping him in the same position definitely saved his lungs, he said that you did a fantastic job by prioritising his neck and back, and the simple questions to see if there's any potential brain trauma he said really impressed him.

I'm not an expert in this subject, but most accidents seem like they're from reckless motorcycle drivers. But even plenty of the ones doing tricks and knee bends at high speeds end up fine and jumping up and running to their bikes. A lot of people go into opposite lanes, assume blind spots are good to keep going in, or speed too quick without noticing anything. As long as they have safety gear on, they're typically fine. Even ones with no special pants on have legs that are fine in cases. But it's mostly reckless driving. Sometimes rear ends.

How do I get to heaven? Will my good deeds be measured against my bad deeds? Do I need to be a good person to go to heaven? How do I know if I'm good enough? Well the bible says no man is good, for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. So how do we get to heaven? Answer: By believing on Jesus Christ who took the punishment for our sin on the cross. There are no amount of good works we can do to achieve salvation because salvation is a free gift of God. We need to humble ourselves, realize we are sinners and that we need a savior. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave his only son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

@@onkouth I saw the immediate aftermath of a head on collision between a 1200 GS and a mercedes, on a superb coastal road in Croatia. Front of the bike was 10 meters away from the rest, there was one body on the asphalt covered by a white sheet and a leg coming from under it, pants ripped, flesh showing and not all was under the skin anymore. I found out later by reading some local news that his wife was catapulted over the rail and fell into some olive trees but she survived. They were a couple on holidays from Hungary. The article never said who was at fault ... These things happen and they're terrible to see, much worse to go through, best we can do is take all the precautions we can.

Jeez. Those 2 bikers that pulled up helped a ton. Knew exactly what to do. I can sympathize with the person who called the ambulance as well when he said, "I'm responsible for his life." Just an all around scary situation. And everyone there acted like heroes. I hope the guy made it out OK. I'm gonna remember a lot of what was said there just in case I ever come across an unfortunate accident like this one.

Expertly handled! Calm and direct. As a motorcyclist of over 40 years I can tell you that even with experience, emergency first aid, cpr and other training, the adrenaline flows when coming across a downed rider needing help. These two guys handled it perfectly, including facing traffic while they tended to him. Other important information to gather are medical conditions and medications, should the injured person lose consciousness before EMTs arrive and not be able to tell them.

MASSIVE shout out to King Julien Moto and Mikey for what they did there! I've been riding 30+ years and knew most of what they were doing and saying but I didn't know about repeatedly asking the same simple questions so as to monitor the rider. Thankfully I have never been at the scene of someone else's accident that required an ambulance (I've been in the back myself a couple of times, just being checked over!) and I hope I never need to but it is definitely very handy to know as much as possible and to relay all info to the ambulance when they arrive. It would be great to see how the rider recovered and maybe a meet up with KJM & Mikey! Awesome lads, nice to know there is people like you out there!
