With Beetlejuice being such a hit role for Michael Keaton, I’m sure you can imagine how many people were in disbelief that he was going to be playing Bruce Wayne. 😄 Just goes to show his impressive versatility.

That part where Beetlejuice kicks the tree and it falls over was not supposed to happen, Michael Keaton improvised the "Nice fucking model." And they kept it in lol.

"Are you a ghost, too?" "I'm a ghost with the most, babe." Fun Fact: Michael Keaton, playing the title character, only appears in 14.5 minutes of the film. Music Enthusiast Fact: Tim Burton feared the Day-O (1956) by Harry Belafonte sequence wouldn't go over well, since in his opinion it wasn't very funny. He turned out to be wrong, audiences loved it and think of it as one of the film's most iconic scenes. Parapsychology Foreshadowing Fact: At the dinner party, Otho (Glenn Shadix) states that people who commit suicide end up as "civil servants" in the afterlife. This is actually expanded on in the film. The civil servant ghosts that Adam (Alec Baldwin) and Barbara (Geena Davis) meet are people who appear to have ended their own lives. The receptionist (Patrice Martinez) says she committed suicide, there is a man who hanged himself, and the crushed messenger (Carmen Filpi) is implied to have done it to himself. Juno (Sylvia Sidney) looks normal, but there are scars on her neck that indicate she cut her own throat. Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton) is said to have been a civil servant and Juno's assistant; it was going to be explained in the film that he hanged himself (incompetently and very painfully), due to heartbreak. While this was cut out of the film for running time purposes, it is hinted when Beetlejuice is surprised at Lydia (Winona Ryder) wishing to die.

My mom let me watch this from age 6 and up. I loved it. Probably why I became so into the occult.

I was like 9 or 10 when I saw this in the 80s. And I’d imitated the part where Beetlejuice does the ✊🏼 motion. Obviously I had no clue what the heck it meant, and my older sisters started cracking up and wouldn’t tell me why. And I was sooo mad and upset 😅.

OH MY GOD! I found someone else who did that as a kid! My brother and I both started imitating it, and we were like 8 and 9 (watched it in the early 90's). The dang honks and everything. We did it in front of our mom and instead of being like "oh uh, don't do that guys", she thought it was hilarious. 😂🤷🏻‍♀

Yeah, it's quite the make-up on Beetlejuice! He sounds so different as well.

Great reaction man this one was a another childhood favorite for me and this was the first movie I seen by Tim Burton

Yeah I definitely watched the edited for TV version of this growing up. I swear most Canadian kids did with so many movies- including Ghostbusters. There’s one scene with Ray and a dream about a ghost that I did NOT ever see as a kid 😅

I remember watching this all the time when I was a kid. It's just as funny now as it was then.

I love the bit when he lifts Barbara's dress up with the stick, and he has a look up her dress. "Oh yeah" LOL 14:56 to 15:01

I watched this when it came out. I think i was 8. It never scared me, I thought it was fantastic and started off my love of all things Tim Burton. My love of horror started at age 5 when i first watched 'children of the corn' and 'child's play'.

Best Tim Burton. Love this 😂. Michael Keaton is so great in this.

Oddly enough #1 is Tim Burton's first movie, Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. That movie is hilarious from start to finish..

Betelgeuse is his actual name. It's a star system and pronounced as "Beetlejuice". I've seen early promo material with the movie titled "Betelgeuse", and I'm guessing they went with the phonetic spelling, because most people wouldn't know what Betelgeuse was, let alone how to spell it. I just noticed last year that the subtitles call him "Betelgeuse" so it is still his name.

Yeah, Beetlejuice didn't appear much in this, but there’s a reason for that. This film wasn't based on the cartoon, the cartoon was based on this film. And apparently, the character was a scene-stealer, so the cartoon gave him what this film didn't: a lot more screen time.

I mean i was born in 94 but even i know most 80s kids movies were somewhat scarey and always had adult jokes Goonies, Laboreth, Gremlins, never ending story

Lydia’s dad is the actor who played the principal in Ferris Buellers day off and was busted for being a pedo.

I just realized they could interact with things as ghosts like the bed sheets and such, so why didn't they just toss things across the room, or pull a chair out from under someone or such lol.

When the dinner guests are leaving, it makes me think that it’s difficult to make even things like that really stick with the living, until you learn how to properly do it. They all went through it, and ended up still just blowing it off afterwards.

This was a family movie, crotch grabs and f-bombs were no big deal back in the day. Before people were snowflakes about everything lol. I watched this movie in the 90's as I was a 90's kid. We had thicker skin back then man lol.

There is a dark theory that Jane murdered the Maitlands so she can sell their house. Some say she cut their breaks, others say she placed the dog by the bridge to cause a crash. Whether she did it or not, I never liked Jane as she always came across as a bit of a "Karen".
