Well, he and Tim Burton have remained close friends for all those years, even though they haven't worked together professionally very much. So with the wig, makeup, and familiar costume, it was probably very easy for him to slip right back into the role's mindset.

This movie has been in production for a hot minute, trailers are often just pushed back so there’s enough time to build hype for the movie but not so much time that people lose interest. The movie has almost certainly been entirely filmed at this point. Not saying the movie will be great, it’s not out so we don’t know, but don’t let one trailer ruin it for you. This is also not a full trailer, but a teaser trailer, so it’s intentionally very short and shows almost nothing about the plot. The full trailer is up now though if you want to see it (if you haven’t already)!

Anyone else watching Beetlejuice right now, or watched it and then went directly to this trailer? They should do a double feature when this comes out in theaters!

The interesting thing with Keaton reprising his role is that his age actually adds to the character. He looks more like what you expect Beetlejuice should look like. In the original you can tell that he was a younger man that they were trying to make look old and ragged. Now he’s actually at the appropriate age for the character.

We lost Glenn Shadix (Otho) in real life, but is still alive out there in story, meanwhile, Jeffrey Jones (Charles) is still walking the earth, but they kill off his character. Life just isn’t fair sometimes, definitely going to miss Otho in this one. Rest in Peace Glenn Shadix. 🙏🏽🕊️

So much work went into it, if it bombs I will feel bad for everyone involved. The Flash was horrible and it bombed. I'm sure Keaton knew it would bomb, too. I really hope this is good. Big part of my childhood.

I see it like this: If the teaser trailer alone can make it seem like it's more for money than love, then you know it's gonna be a bad sequel. This, this actually has a really good vibe. I know everyone is excited to see Keaton reprise his role, but it is Winona i love ❤️. She really deserves a big comeback! I know Stranger Things is a hit, but she is so underused in that, Winona was kooky, the outsider, but still managed to be the IT girl back in the day.

I honestly was kinda disappointed when I found out this will be more centered around Beetlejuice and her daughter (jenna). Hopefully we still get lots of interactions between her and Beetlejuice in this one. I loved their chemistry in the original

I’m so reluctant to watch this. The first movie holds a certain dark place in my heart, and I don’t want it to be tainted. It sounds stupid, but I know for a fact that the original Beetlejuice, and some of Tim Burton’s other films, have shaped the person I am today.

Keaton is still iconic. Winona is just as enchanting as ever. Ortega is a perfect new addition. And they didn't need to cram the entire plot of the film into a 60-second trailer. This is gonna be so good!

A sequel I have always actually wanted and it feels like the perfect time for it. Tim Burton coming back to direct it, getting the original actors on board, I’m so down for this.

"The juice is loose", I don't think i've ever been transported back to my childhood because of ANYTHING faster than when I heard him speak those words. Michael Keaton is Batman to so many, but he has always been Beetlejuice to me. The first film was my introduction to Keaton, and was my favorite film when I first saw it at 6 years old. I've never been more excited for a film in my life.

@@MrTimschelI'm thinking the difference in delivery was a purposeful artistic choice. From the limited info we have, it seems like the Deetzes left Winter River shortly after 1988 and didn't come back until recently. So Beetlejuice hasn't seen Lydia for almost 40 years...and given how he originally felt about her, he's probably a little pissed about it.

Okay, the reason I think this COULD be good is because they've actively been trying to make this film since the original came out (so it's not just some company reviving an IP out of the blue for a quick buck, it's something with actual pre-existing passion invested in it). I also think the fact Beetlejuice has so little screentime in the original, yet so much more unexplored potential as a character, is an opportunity ripe for another story featuring him. Fingers crossed Burton can break his bad streak with this one.

Not really. Those were much different variations. The initial sequel was Beetlejuice in Hawaii so nah. This is a more recent idea.

I am genuinely stoked for this! That movie had a hige impact on me as a kid, and I always wondered why they never tried to do another one. With Tim Burton at the helm, and Keaton, and Ryder etc....i have faith that this will be one of the rare sequels that doesnt completely disappoint!
