Being very poorly educated in that majestic field of classical music, I always wondered “Why do they need a conductor as long as they already know the music they are playing?”, until I watched Sergiu Celibidache (my exquisite countryman) explaining what a conductor is supposed to do in front of an orchestra and how he can shape the sound of music like the heavenly thing that it actually is. Watching you now is more than a revelation to me. I’m transcending to a totally new realm, of only joy and happiness, that all composers intended to bring to us through their works. You mentioned Sergiu’s name in one of your amazingly lessons and now I do know that the two of you belong to that really blessed class of people who is able to educate us how to feel wonder by listening to classical music. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, dear Ben!

I focused on her elbows. As soon as she allows herself to get out of her comfort zone and stretches her elbows, the orchestra also opens up and allows itself to shine - not only in the majestic, but also in he quiet parts! Unbelievable teaching talent. I would love to play in an orchestra conducted by Zander!

It's all about motivation. The whole life is about motivation, about visions! *sigh* I love and admire Ben Zander! *He* is able to switch one's mood in a second ... and even more: to switch one's attitude toward life ...

That unseen thread that goes between the conductor and musician was shown in amazing detail when Ben stood in front of the musicians. Accuracy, Intonation musicianship increased 1000 fold. This vlog should be shown to every conductor who think they are in control but obviously not. Musicians are not cynics they are disappointed with those that are in front of them. ps. Dear Elves are you releasing anymore of the Brahms? What is happening to that Concerto?

Benjamin Zander's observations of music are amazing, such as his suggestion that the orchestra and conductor go my Beethoven's metronome markings in 4/4 time on Beethoven's Symphony No. 5-4th movement. All his interpretation classes are so amazing, you can learn so much if you take the time to listen and watch his videos.

I think the fact that original string instruments cannot sustain a tone as long as modern steel strings therefore it is played faster and modern instruments can play slower. Also nothing wrong with not following the composers metronome markings and other interpretations.
