Sokolov and Richter never fail to amaze - Sokolov with almost inhuman, acrobatic fingers, Richter by being so human, almost hiding the genius inside.

Только в исполнении Святослава Рихтера слышны все тонкости и нюансы произведений Бетховена. А эту сонату он исполняет так, как будто именно так её и написал Бетховен. Слушала интерпретации 3 исполнителей и всё не то. Только когда услышишь, как исполняют другие, то понимаешь в чем гениальность таких пианистов, как Рихтер.
That coda in the middle movement (adagio) gets me every time. I don't think nowadays pianist are able to stand back, and let the shapes/structures speak for themselves like what Richter does here. Who knows if this was performed on a Yamaha (as Richter championed) but the pianos, and pianissimos were so special, makes me marvel; actually softness -- not quietness. Richter forever. Hate to be following in his footsteps -- nothing to do. But inspiring for ANY musician/artist as always.
