Glenn Gould makes a difference, a technique is noticeable, the tempos are pleasing, the micropauses are noticeable, the energy and the sublime are compatible. I think the concert belongs to the Piano, but Stokowski shines. Grace for sharing.

Audio equipment question...what is the need or reason for using the Graham Slee as well as the RM5? Aren't both of these phono preamps? I'm just a beginner with this stuff, so please excuse my ignorance if this is a silly question.
@cgoroo7 күн бұрын
Not a silly question at all. I sometimes switch between using a separate solid state preamp (Graham Slee) and the built-in valve phono preamp (RM5). When using an external phono pre, I use the RM5 as a gain preamp (line-in) only.

you can almost hear it falling apart at some points, disintegrating, and yet it's one of the most ambitious reading of Mahler (by one of his closest student!)

For me the BEST version of this symphony. The Vienna orchestra just relishes every beat and the scene by the brook is to DIE for !! Böhm really nails it. Possibly one of his greatest recordings. Recommended with enthusiasm.

After hearing Deep Purple’s version of Mars, I had to hear it the way Holst intended. This is the album I purchased way back in the early 70’s and upon hearing this, well, that was it. Classical Orchestral music became my new interest and focus. This performance, of this Masterpiece, is second to none.

Wonderful. What a brilliant channel.
