The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Barry loves love songs. They suit him. He says he’s a very sentimental person.
I'm near 70 now and have always loved the Bee Gee's. Even during all of my hard rock days. Led Zeppelin for one. How ironic that the youngest brother died first and the oldest brother is the only one still alive. Thank you Gibb brothers for all the joy you have given me and the millions that loved you.
This is one of the rare cases where the live version is better than the album version

Yep, only the Gibb brothers have that ability! For example, Barry sings Jive Talkin' and Words better when singing live, Robin sings Juliet better on stage, Maurice sings Closer Than Close better on stage and Andy sounds incredible when performing Shadow Dancing live too! They were just so damn talented, and it's so sad that we lost Robin, Maurice and Andy!
*Oh my Stars, that is one handsome man* Much love Barry Gibb & condolences to his brothers 🕊 🕊

What really messes with my mind, is that there are people so focused on what is called The Bee Gees disco music or disco period, that they miss this gem and other songs that were/are outstanding both before and after the Disco period. I know it's their loss, but the brothers deserve more respect than that.

Whatever else he did or didn’t do, and I’m sure it made him $$$, Ed Sullivan brought the newest, most interesting entertainers to the masses. Elvis, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, the latest from Broadway, to the comedians, jugglers, and mimes. I’d love to see a documentary chronicling the show, as well as the man. I’m aware that he censored certain things on his show. However, for many across the country he delivered the latest in the entertainment arts - every week.
Man I can't get over how fabulous Barry looks here!
Bee Gees sang too "To love somebody" on this same show i hope they will put after ...
They were simply great and I miss them.
Andy and Barry looked so much alike.
This was an eye-opener for me. I knew the Bee Gees only as a disco band until my freshman year in college when one of my dorm-mates happened to be watching a "Best of Ed Sullivan" retro show, and this sequence appeared. With their elegant appearance, the row of violins, the French horn, and a very young and fresh-faced Barry Gibb, I couldn't believe this was the same band that had brought us the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack. The Bee Gees really knew how to reinvent themselves according to the times and go full force with any musical style. Thanks for posting. Rest in peace, Maurice, Robin and Andy.

So does Maurice.
The other thing about Barry Gibb, he has that charm and stage presence in anything that he sings and wears on stage that is effortless. This man could come out performing in a hefty bag and I still would think he's sexy. Then all the fuss on the Saturday Night Fever album seems to overshadow all of the other great albums they put out before and after. The Bee Gees were so much more this one album. I wish critics would stop pigeonholing the Bee Gees as a Disco group. I like the fact that they can have funk, soul, R&B, soft rock and country songs all on one album. Examples of this are albums Main Course, Children of The World and Spirits Having Flown.

My older sister wrote down the lyrics for me 😀 Barry has always been my favorite Bee Gee. I love his voice !
