This group performed for more than 50 years!! They have a true gift!! This song has been in MANY movies!! Many black movies as well! Saturday Night Fever with John Travolta is a movie that The Bee Gees wrote the whole soundtrack and they did it in just a couple of days! The music drips out of their souls!! It’s sad there’s only one still alive😢 This is 1970s disco! When you’re checking out their catalog of songs make sure you don’t forget the songs they wrote for other people!! My favorite is Immortality by Celine Dion!

I was a pre-teen when this stuff really started to hit big, and I seem to recall that they were occasionally prompted to sing live in interviews because people didn't believe they could really sing that tight. They thought it was studio magic, and the three of them would just shrug and do a little impromptu a cappella for the camera. Sure enough -- tight as a drum. They experienced a bit of a backlash after the 70s ended, but that's always the case for era-defining music. Journey and Nirvana went through the same thing. But good music is good music, and eventually everyone comes around to admitting what we all always knew: these guys' catalogue is banger after banger. Forget Bee Gees one day a week; you could do a whole channel just on stuff written by Barry Gibb. And ... well yeah, women dug these guys with a shovel. I remember seeing lots of grown-up dudes walking around wearing heeled boots, tight pants, and rocking blowouts. I was a titch too young to connect at the time but watching now with adult eyes these three brothers were FAHN. :-) I strongly suggest a number by them called "You Should Be Dancing" that is pretty much the beating heart of the disco era. Barry also had a few hits with -- no joke -- Barbra Streisand. Search on their names and you'll turn them up.

If you want to hear flawless, sky-high harmony, check out 'Alone', the video showing clips of them in the studio, meeting people, and goofing around when they were younger...one of my favorites of theirs. And also the 'Midnight Special' live performance of 'Nights On Broadway', the first song they used their falsetto voices in...Barry coming in low and strong, and Mo doing the high, ending fills that Barry did in the studio recording...Fantastic!

Have you been introduced to their brother Andy Gibb yet? Start with Shadow Dancing if you haven't! Andy died young at age 30 a few weeks after his birthday. He was just getting ready to become a Bee Gee when his heart gave out from years of drug abuse. You'll notice a resemblance to Barry in both looks and vocals! Great reaction Rad!

Watch them as lil kids 1960 Australian TV appearance, 1967-1970 hits Massachusetts, To Love Somebody, New York Mining Disaster, I started a Joke, I've Gotta Get a Message to You, etc. Albums (including unreleased) from1970 - 1976 are criminally underrated. Plenty of great songs for many many Saturdays 😍 Can't wait!

As someone who saw and heard The Bee Gees and The Eagles in concerts - let me first say, The Eagles were an outstanding vocal group (original members) and talented musicians, yet it's the Brothers Gibb with perfect in-sync harmonies, which places them slightly ahead of The Eagles. Again, I emphasize, "slightly"... keep listening to The Bee Gees and check out the "Hell Freezes Over Tour" from The Eagles. You will not be disappointed!

No one can better the Bee Gees at harmony, because they are brothers...and two of them were twins. That's genetic harmony. The closest is their kids that have created a record called The Gibb Collective. Welcome to the '70s! Background info: NY was going through riots, a murderer on the loose and troubled times. The song was written about all of that. They did not intend for it to be a dance song, but the beat just makes you want to. Also, This song is the perfect beat for doing CPR on someone. They use this in teaching medical professionals how to do CPR on a patient. I don’t believe the Bee Gees intended for that to happen, but it did happen!

If you want more bands that harmonize well together, check out The Beach Boys, The Eagles and The Turtles (just to name a few).

I never really appreciated this when it was on radio stations everyday and in the Discos and Roller Dromes every weekend. I was too into Black Sabbath, ZZ Top, The Who , Jethro Tull , Hendrix , Joe Walsh definately wasn't into disco. I like it now 🤣
