I know I may be kinda late to the video. Thank you for sharing some knowledge and concepts that I felt were really helpful not only in art but in just general. I've been struggling to find passion in something and recently I have begun commissioning art to get characters/ideas done for a campaign I'm doing for fun with my friends. I like to go all out in my vision for something and storytelling as it will also be my first time being a DM. I know that all seems like a lot... I bring that up because I have run into a roadblock. I am not made of money and I often have trouble explaining an idea or concept to someone via text to where it doesn't really translate into the finished product as much as I would like. Either I have to let a concept go because it is too complex or I lack the actual ability to articulate what I'm trying to say to the artist where it would make sense. Its just frustrating as I can see the concept and images so vividly in my mind... So I figured, it can't hurt to start somewhere right? I just browsed through some videos and came across you! It will be slow but I hope to get to where I can make the things I want to display to my ideas to everyone else!

I find that a video call works way, way better when trying to communicate an artistic vision. You and your artist can check out reference images and really dig into your idea and what you love about it. I find that most pro concept artists have a really broad knowledge of visual references and are usually very effective communicators. Another good rule of thumb is try to keep concepts simple in general. Something that you can describe clearly in one short sentence (which is often challenging!) I am in the fortunate position of meeting dozens of really talented concept artists in my academy so if you are ever looking for an artist, please reach out and I'd be happy to make a referral!
Alright my second video from you. Time to Subscribe !!!!

Hey mr. Fowler, i have a question. How many hours a week/day do you think would be enough to paint as well as you or to become a professional? Taking into consideration the whole deliberate practice. You got an awesome channel btw, cheers ! 😃
@fowlerillus
8 ай бұрын
Hi! Thanks, I'm glad you're enjoying the channel. I've actually been creating practice schedules as part of a new resource I'm building for DPS so - perfect timing on this question. If you can manage at least five hours per week (or about an hour per week day), I think you will see meaningful progress. Results don't come instantly and you can expect years of development before you feel confident in competing for jobs, but if you can be consistent and targeted in your practice, and if you have a community for support and feedback - I think that is the true recipe for success.
Will there be a new Udemy course? I love them.

Hi Pavel - I just released a new free course last week! Check it out - it's called Concept Art Portfolio Boost.
I don't know why but Hardy's methods are strange and easy to follow, what he drew, talked, and shared, I tried to follow and succeed in nearly 95% of his works! Very strange! :D I hope your Academic course can reduce the price more, currently exceed my budget... :(
