Becky Adlington on the heartbreak of baby loss | Happy Mum Happy Baby

The heartbreak of baby loss is something no parent expects when trying to grow their family.
This week on Happy Mum Happy Baby, Becky Adlington bravely shares her experience with miscarriage and the devastating loss of her daughter Harper at 20 weeks. Becky opens up about the feeling of her body failing her, how she navigated telling her children, and the special place Harper will always have in their family.
We’re so grateful for Becky in her vulnerability and courage in sharing her story with us. If you have experienced this kind of loss, or know someone who has, we hope you find some comfort in this discussion.

This is how I feel at the moment. It can't do what it was designed to do.

I get what you are saying hun. Sending love. But 'design' is a strong word. It's hardly a perfect design. Women have been struggling with these things for millennia, & whilst there is an average of what the body is 'designed' to do, on average the design doesn't meet up in many different ways, whether it's developing allergies, asthma, diabetes, cancer, mental health problems ect. It's just that with this particular thing we feel it the most as it's our babies who we instinctively want to protect & feel responsible for, plus being told by society since way back this is a woman's primary function, & struggling is her greatest failure. That's not true though, the body is not a failure, all human bodies are complex & imperfect. xx
