Beautiful shire horse refuses to go into the horse box
Beautiful shire horse refuses to go into the horse box but needs to go the vets to get well again what can Steve do to help.. oh no is the horse box big enough?! Apologies for the vertical video and quality we had some technical difficulties

Its just common sense & patience. I did thought the lobby truck was small was the issue. If people get big horses you got to have bigger transport. Good job Steve 👏
I'm so impressed with Steve's kindness towards the horses but also his great kindness towards the horses owners. Much to learn from the Young's!

If I was her giant beautiful self I wouldn't want to go in that little box either!
If I was that big and the horse box was that small I wouldny go in!

Same. I have shires, they are excellent with trailer but keep in mind it is a PAIN trying to find a trailer suitable in height and configuration. The horse are tight in a 12ft deep stall, so they are too long for most slant. Then ceiling is too low on almost all trailers for long trips.
You two are quite possibly the sweetest human beings. You just feel like home.
Absolutely beautiful horse. 😍 So glad there is "Steve" to help people with their horses. Precious has a lovely soul as well as her beauty, she just needed Steve's quiet guidance. Hopefully the owner will relax and follow Steve's lead. Don't talk to her. Come on then, careful! 🤣 Creating good habits, It's hard not to chat to them. Loved the horse box but did wonder about the length, what a difference with those rails gone. It must be tricky when dealing with owner's sensitivities, but you handled with tack and humour Steve. Good luck to Precious and her owner. 🥰
Amazing guys welldone , I thought that lorry was too small, they are going to consider a bigger one if that horse grows a bit more what a lovely temperament she as so lovely love happy endings too thank you ❤❤
Like everything else there is a learning curve to learning any skill like developing "feel" and "timing" in horsemanship. I found that it was very helpful to use a friend's arm with a lead around their wrist to learn an "instant release" technique similar to what Steve uses in getting a horse to drop its head. The positive is that one's friend can give verbal reinforcement, "too late", "too soon" , "too soft" , "too hard", etc., and the horse won't get confused by one's cues.
I wouldn’t get in that small dark box either. Well done Steve. Beautiful big horse
Another brilliant horsemanship addition as well as using your engineering instincts to overcome the trailer's too short dimension. The horse had good instinct too and needed the calm assurance .
Fabulous video - brilliant you ! My husband and I met at 14 - married 43 years this year. Like you two we laugh a LOT. Horses aren’t in our lives anymore so I’m living vicariously thru you two. And you have me missing beautiful England and Wales. ❤
Lovely to see the horse finally being heard! Bless her. So good to see.
That is one beautiful horse. Another amazing job Steve and Tonia!

I only work with shires up in canada. I love their mind but yes, they are absolutely gorgeous in all proportions
So easy to see why the head lowering is an absolute must! It's the beginning of conversing & trust. You set up an understandable 'language' and can see the light bulb go on with the horse! ("Ahh...so that's all you want & you won't eat me?) I can also see the owner struggle because she was paying attention to you Steve & not the subtle movement/give of her horse. That's why her timing was off, her attention was split between listening to you & trying to please & not on Precious. It's so important to focus on the slightest give and must be difficult in the face of a respected trainer AND camera. A lot going on all at once! I always appreciate all of it: the camera work, the explanation, being taken along & the owner's willingness to share, but do know it must make it a bit less focused especially for anyone not used to it. Great video! Lovely owner & her Precious!
Poor Precious can sense Sharon’s lack of confidence and inconsistency confuses them both. If she can successfully practice and implement her newfound knowledge they’ll both be successful. Beautiful glossy beast 😍
Brilliant video with Precious the horse. I could almost read the horses mind when I saw the horse trailer, Lorey? It looked so tiny for Precious. Cutting out the bars so she could put her head and neck forward. Kind of like making a tight shoe into a sandal so she didn't feel so confined. Brilliant Steve!!!! Cut up the trailer for the precious horse. Either that or getting a longer hauler! Do you bring product for people to purchase, the boing sticks and horse licks? Just a thought. Such a nice video!!!!!
Steve looks so little out there with that gorgeous beauty!
This is one of the best videos yet! 😁 As ever, the most amazing, empathetic handling of the situation from a master horseman. The final minute or so, from a slightly merry Steve was pure gold!!! Steve....you are an absolutely ordinary bloke, with the most extraordinary talent.....gained from years of obvisational study and what can only be, an intrinsic natural 'feel' for any sort of equine. You should feel rightfully proud you've made such a difference to so many lives.....horse and human! Total respect to you and your training methods. Thankyou to you and your family team for sharing! 🤗😊
I do wish that people without much feel or experience with horses would get themselves some help earlier, before things get sticky!

@@leighskelly3044 And believe me, we wish we did!!! I don’t know if I do or not, I love the skills I am learning this way, and yet when I am with the critters themselves, it is soooo different. I think Steve here, and Klaus Hempfling and others of like understanding, skill, and caring are brilliant and I love watching and learning, but translating that to reality when one doesn’t have steady access to horses is for me really really hard. There is sooooo much that goes into this stuff, and it looks so easy when I watch them working with the horses, but then trying on one’s own?? Oh boy, that is the challenge.

@@judykathrine2485 Hey Judy, I watch from Canada too. I'm in northern Ontario. Where are you?
I'm reminded of Cesar Millan who says people give pets 'love, love, love', when the animals really need 'calm, confidence, and love' so the pet can trust you to be their leader. The more people can practice being calm and look at the feet of a horse, the easier it is to be confident that they need to respect your space bubble, and rub in the love instead of pat....see, its a nice blend. 😊 Good training has always meant a happier life for the animal.🎉
I hope many any Australia see this.Thank you all.. Tears to my eyes watching...I love kindness over power..Just lovely
Oh Steve!!! Our Mighty horse whisperer!!!! Great feat as usual! I just wish we had you, in the States!!! Luv to you and yours! Thank you for your Expertise! Truly brilliant! Bravo!❤🐎❤️👏👏👏👏👏👏🙏🥰
You really worked your magic this time AGAIN! You knew what the problem was and so did Precious. Happy owners too. What a great video. Thank you so much for taking the time to share with us. Enjoy! ❤
PRECIOUS stole the day and won the hearts❤❤
VERY IMPRESSIVE JOB. BEAUTIFUL HORSE‼️🐴 Vinny 🇺🇸
Great video, Steve & Tanya...Precious is so beautiful...and much happier now...thanks to you. 🕊
That horse looks like it would not have a problem walking to any destination.....huge!
Those horses just love you ❤️. They connect with your training and your love for them. Animals usually pick up when people are kindhearted and there for their well being. Thank you and yours for Sharing ❤️.
Ooof the way she slammed her big ol' front hooves down, my heart lept 😦😳😆. She really was a gentle and well behaved lady! Just beatiful xxx
I love watching these amazing video's. I Have not been around horses for the last 9 or so years as I now have immobility issues due to complicated spinal problems. I miss being around these beautiful creatures who always gave me a sense of freedom. These videos are a pleasure to watch. I especially love the big giant breeds. 🙂❤
Certainly is a Precious horse. I think half of your time is training the bad habits out of owners. Lol Great video and lovely to see the horse trailering without panicking.

IMPRESSIVE... as usual!!! Your techniques are exceptional, you READ the horse & owner soooooooo very well!!! The editing is perfect, breaks at perfect spots!!! CONGRATULATIONS 41 years together ❤️ 💙 💖 👏 ♥️ 💓 Bronx Love guyz 😎
What’s funny is listening to your plan before you get to your venue on these far away excursions, and watching you change those plans each time you find another issue that you can help resolve. ‘I’m not going to have much time…well,as long as I was there I thought I’d just do this to help out…I may as well address this while I’m here…’. Your trips start with a few hours to fix one thing and you just can’t leave without doing one more, or two more, etc, things that will help them.😊. So now 3 hours turn into 6. You have such a kind heart and really want to help people and their horses. It’s just so cute.
Beautiful, beautiful and sweetly PRECIOUS❤❤🌻 Steve Young Horsemanship👍👍⭐️ Steve and Tanya, and all those who share their horses and their stories with us,thank you so much.🥰❤️🥰❤️
She is absolutely amazing! I wish our Texas climate would be more accommodating to the breed. ❤️
Love your videos and training methods. I don't know why the owners of Precious didn't think the trailer was to short. I had a 16.3 QH you had to remove center bar so he could ride kind of sideways in a 2 horse trailer. He was a great huge fellow with a heart of gold. Was so glad you could help the little girl with her ponies in previous video. Enjoyed seeing picture of you and Tania when you were younger.
Truly amazing, you are a gift Steve. Why Sharon couldn’t see this box was to small is beyond me, absolutely ridiculous putting Precious through all that, until you came along. Sharon so concerned about Precious slipping or being told off, bizarre she couldn’t see the cruelty of pushing Precious into box.
When Tanya said ‘that’s one hell of a bum’ my first thought was and the horses is big as well 😂😂
Another awesome video full of everything...great training techniques, laughter, great countryside, and camera work! Just love you both! Thanks again, a friend from Idaho, USA!
You the man Steve!😃
Thanks for the video guys!! What a beautiful horse!❤
Fantastic video and a job well done Steve, Precious is a whole lot of beautiful big horse, when I first saw the horse box I thought ooh okay how’s this going to work out, you should certainly pat yourself on the back coming up with the idea of removing those bars, and you and Tanya don’t look old enough to be married for that long, tfs x Julie
You just said that Sharon was starting to get upset. They spent 5 hours trying to load her and in 10 minutes you have precious considering it with confidence. She's leary, but doesn't seem afraid really . How can she be upset by this. The horse isn't panicking, rearing, or kicking, just considering. You know what you're doing and shouldn't worry too much
Fantastic video with such a sense of humor to it!! Your laugh, Steve, is contagious. Thank you for sharing the thoughts going through your mind during several stressful moments (Precious is indeed Sharon's precious Shire❤). Taking outcthe bars in the lorry was ingenious! Thank you to both Steve and Tanya for sharing their fun and loving relationship with us lucky viewers You two make a marvelous team!!! ❤
You worked your magic and Precious is a happy horse. 🐴🐎
I live in Oregon, US so we don't see many Lori's for horses. All trailers. I was amazed at the size of the horse with those small tires 😮.
Omg! So big! Aren't they beautiful horses! Love all your work Steve and Tanya!
You haven’t changed a bit in all those years Tanya! Great job Steve with the gentle giant 👏👏👏
This is one of my favourite videos. You did an amazing job as you usually do but this one was something special. Well done 👍
Love how the box was cut to let her have her head space. and the body follows how thrilled she was to have enough room to move and it took away the flight aspect. and the fear. Great One!!!
I had to have a chuckle when you intimated it wasn't exactly an easy experience, regarding both the lengthy drive and the training session itself ... and then I notice you're commentating from inside your bar! 😂😂😂 What ... are you being driven to the drink, Steve? 😂😂😂 You probably had more work training Sharon, than Precious! Just teasing ya Sharon ... I think we all get where you're coming from ... our furbabies are just that ~ our precious little babies ... although she's not all that little! And we all know you hadn't met Steve yet ... and know him like we do! 😉 I must say Precious is a fine example of a Shire ... she's absolutely gorgeous with a wonderful personality to match ... and I think Sharon will be further ahead and have way more enjoyment with her, by using some ... if not all ... of your methods and/or techniques to train and reshape her behaviours ... I mean to make her think it's Precious' idea. 😉 Hopefully you were able to impress upon Sharon the importance of timing and how critical it is, in the forming and maintenance of desirable behaviours. I do recall an earlier VLOG, whereby you gave us a run down of how you first met Tanya and got her attention. Tanya you look so Young (no pun intended) in that pic. I just realized you have dimples. They always seem to highlight a person's smile, for some reason. I bet when you two first met ... you oke dog you! 😉 I bet neither of you, ever in your wildest dreams, knew you would experience the journey you two have been on ... let alone think it. And it's not even close to being over yet ... you've both got so many more miles to go ... no pun intended! Brilliant VLOG as always Steve and Tanya! It always puts a smile on my face when the VLOG notification post up. Can't tell you the disappointment I get when it's just a teaser! 😳 All the way from Alberta, Canada ... where we still have a lot of snow ... so no complaining about the weather, eh!?!. If you don't have the rain you won't have those absolutely gorgeous landscapes that you have, across the Pond! 😉 Bless you both ... and all the viewers! 😇🙏🙌

Vermont got a good amount of snow in the last whirling storm just this week… three feet up on the mountain twenty minutes from me… 20 inches in my yard. Awesome snow critter building material.
Precious is a beautiful horse & definitely very precious.
Beautiful horse. A gentle giant. When I saw what they wanted her to load in, I thought "Oh no! A clostrophobic box!" I'm amazed that Steve was the only one who saw it didn't give her enough room. Makes one wonder about the experience (inexperience) of the "horse people" that were handling her. Brilliant idea Steve to cut out a window for her! Good job! Love the picture of Steve and Tanya when you were so young. Steve looked very Macho! : )
Wow what a magnificent horse I'm so jealous 🥰❤❤❤
I love donkeys as well!! My girl passed over last year. She taught me so much about how they think. Different than horses, which I’ve had all my life & still do. Maybe I’ll be blessed with more donkeys before I pass, but I’m 70 now.
I've said it before....really wish you'd been around back when I was riding. I might still be riding today! And inspired thinking regarding the removal of the bars!!
Such an uplifting episode to watch - full of positivity & learnings. Loved the Donkeys too!baby donkeys with fluffy coats are just scrumptious ❤
I love your easy way with people and horses. Your sense of humor is great and your country is beautiful. From Maine
Fantastic outcome! Not only training with exceptional grace, but thinking on your feet about modifying that lorry saved the owners potentially spending thousands of pounds to get a bigger one! Sweet!
This was a surprise on my suggested posts.....and here we have again, the issue is the owner not the horse. Same with dogs. I admire your keeping your head with the owner.....The poor horse.
They are such honest lovely horses the Shire it's lovely to see , she is really trying all the time. thank you Steve it's so nice to see. 💕💕
Omg, Charlotte: “DAD”😂
She wants to be good, but knows that box is too small for her!
As usual you are fabulous, so kind , both to the horse and the owner, definitely an Angel among men. Lucky Tonia. You 2 are clearly soulmates
It amazes me how these huge animals are so willing to do what we ask if we just know the right way to ask. Thanks, Steve, for helping us learn the equine language a bit. 🙏
(HUG) Precious is BEAUTIFUL great video Steve & Tonia. You both are so entertaining to watch, and love that you are so gentle with horses, God bless you both!
“We’ll be ringing you next week asking you to come again, we can’t get her out” 😂😂😂😂😂
Beautiful couple, then and now . :)
"Saving horses, one at a time." This was just wonderful! You ARE the man! Brilliant thought process to fix the trailer and give that horse back its confidence. You and Tanya are beautiful together. Laughter covers so much in a marriage. I loved the story of how you met. My heart does break knowing my 50+ years of owning horses has come to an end, and I can't put into practice everything I've learned watching you. If only....😢 We were in the UK back in 2018 for our 40th anniversary; oh, how I long to go back. It is one of God's most beautiful places. May God bless you both with all His good things for all the work you do to help horses help their owners. 🐎
Absolutely LOVE the first meeting story and pic of you both when you were kids. Thanks for sharing those.
Well done Steve. What a magnificent horse too😊
Very cute - so glad it turned out for Precious & Sharon. What a lovely story about how Steve & Tanya met? And Tanya's barely changed a bit - you are Special people - Charlotte's proof of that! Have a great week & take care, keep well & HAPPY MOTHER"S DAY, Tanya & Charlotte!
Seems to be such an awesome couple who’s been fortunate enough to have found their calling.
Another great video Steve and Tanya with a fabulous outcome for horse and owners 👏👏 I loved the young pic of you guys when you met, so cute. I can see Charlotte a lot in 'young Steve'. You really didn't want to end that video Steve 😂😂 don't blame you, it was wonderful. Thank you both 🙏
Some extra problem solving on that one. Good job on the trailer length issue. Happy for you that she was basically gentle as she is a lot of horse to freak out.
It looks easy, but it isn't. You do such great job's. Thank you, it should have more empathic horseman, as you. Great 🙏🙏♥️🙏🙏
I am not a you...But watching their growing trust in you brings tears to my eyes ,... I did things different (in a nice way) as a teenager.with this and that...But I am so grateful watching all your work...Christian Horsey love from Sydney

Brilliant thinking outside the box (literally!). Wonderful elation of feelings when you can accomplish something like this. It makes us ALL feel good!! And, by the way, I love your meals, too. Just wish I could be there to join in! Much love from snowy Colorado!
I am amazed at your skill and experience. I am working with a shire at a rescue here in the USA . I wish you were here . Thanks for all you do
Thank You for telling them the truth. Ya can't put a square peg into a round hole ! So plain to see why she wouldn't load I wouldn't want to either!
Lovely job. Patience and perfect timing. Well done.
Wat a beautiful horse, wow. Great job helping her. 🐴
--why move the lory (horse van) to the paddock (small exercise field), better footing for the horse? fewer distractions? Great video ... never get tired of seeing the horse even a little progress. ,, even the horse at 46:44 "couldn't be bothered to come back out" , you could see the look on Precious' face, like look at me, I'm really proud of myself.
Oh my goodness - YOU are magical with such a simple yet obvious fix. Amazing and BRILLIANT RESULTS!! Great Job Tanya and Steve!! What an amazing and good looking couple you were and kids and even now being middle agers! Love the Donkeys and I am so impressed with all your successes you don't have a swelled head and are as humble as ever! YOU ARE GREAT!!! God Bless.
What a nice horse!
I know nothing about horses.. but goodness that Horse box is more like a van. Too small….this beautiful creature felt claustrophobic and it was so obvious to me by her actions. Showing signs of panic, her and eyes and ears were showing signs of it too. However she did get used to the space once her head was free. I wonder how she was when it started to move……just my opinion. What a beautiful shire.
Excellent job, 👏🏻👏🏻💕
Donkeys are Very special! Our Savior rode in on one!!! Luv them!!!❤
You are well-deserved to be pleased with yourself for understanding Precious' POV -- without being able to extend her head and neck through into the back area of the trailer the poor horse had no room, as you said, to even lift her tail for a poop. The depth and subtlety of your understanding on the horse's behalf is gold. That was a brilliant insight that allowed you to finish your work with Precious right then and there AND not have them have to exchange the trailer they had already spent time and money reinforcing. You are brilliant, Steve and Tanya and so kind about it all too. Thank you for taking us along to see the drop dead gorgeous Precious -- what an absolute shiny black beauty she is. :)
The owner needs to work on her own confidence and learn to listen and the nervous laugh is a give away and the horse will pick up on it but all in all another great job by the man himself, Steve is definitely at the top of his game.
Awesome work. Smart thinking for the horse's comfort, adjusting the trailer. Big girl Precious is! Yikes. Well done!
Lovely to see you both when you first met.
You are amazing Steve 🥰 and both you and Tanya are the funniest couple and always so glad in your videos. Lots of love to both of you ❤️
Woke up at 4:30 am and saw you had posted…couldn’t help myself and had to watch. Now I can nap for an hour before I have to get up and start my day. I love your methods and hope to use them when opportunity arises. Back to snoozing…❤❤❤😊
Love your videos Steve, Tanya and Charlotte. So happy you were able to find a way to elongate the Lorry so that Precious could be housed comfortably within. It was apparent this the case because she doesn't really want to come out. Thanks again for showing all your hard work.
Steve has the patience of Job ❤
"that's a hell of a bum " Steve missed that one Tanya 😂😂
You were a good looking young rooster back then Steve, and i can also see by the photo why you beeped your horn at Tania. I have learnt so much from your videos steve, Cheers..!! John Perth, Western Australia
Love your spirit, very calming, it’s obvious the horses feel it too. 👍 Beautiful Country side even if it’s raining.
