BEAUTIFUL restoration of an UGLY desk

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This desk was made around 1920-1930. Decades later somebody tried to refinish it, but they stopped in half way. So now it was my turn to make it nice again.

There are some furniture restoration channels on KZread. If somebody asked me to pick the best one, it would be a tough choice. Since I am writing here, you can surely guess where I am heading. Correct. This! This is the best furniture restoration channels on KZread. Ahti, you are a true master and I also like the way you do this videos. No talking, no "sponsors". Just pure 100% content. I remain truly amazed and grateful, for you share your workflow and over decades acquired skills with us. You are truly a master of your craft, Ahti. Best wishes, Erik.

Have you watched Thomas Johnson Antique furniture restoration? He is more traditional and antiques are much older. But the transformation of the pieces is the same. Love love love his channel too. I gave up on others watching only my favourites AT Restoration and Thomas. They are very different but both are very professional. Two generations of true masters.

When I watch other channels (which is very rare), I watch with WWAD in mind. And I get frustrated that they aren't doing what is best for the piece.

Magnificent! Only you could have resurrected that desk to the level it is now Ahti. My wife and i both exclaimed "Who wouldn't want that in their home"? Who indeed! Spectacular work my brother. And thank you again for the English subtitles on your interview video on television. While your language is beautiful, I speak none, so being able to see what was said made the video even more awesome. Thank you as always brother, for your outstanding work and videos. God bless. Rev. Beautiful mobile! I'm only sorry for the dark color applied to the piece, because I like the color of natural wood. Whatever the color of the wood, I prefer it because the natural beauty is incomparable. Another extraordinary work, Ahti! Congratulations!

Such a beautiful desk! I love how you work to preserve the original wood. So many KZread restoration creators will just toss the whole piece and make a new one. One video I recently watched threw out all the wood on a restoration of a chest - the hardware was the only original part! That's fine if that's what you want to do, but don't call it a "restoration" video. Again I love your work and your genuine restoration videoes! Thank you from SC, USA.

I felt the same! I think either the escutcheons or the pulls must have been changed - they seem like a mismatch. As much as I think the pulls feel more of the proper style, though, I really think the escutcheons are original and the handles are what were replaced somewhere along the way. It would be interesting to know.
