Nope, that’s actually from other humpback whales! Their barnacles are sharp, so when they rub together during breeding season the get cut sometimes!

@dolphindronedom I'm relieved that it's not from boat motors, but that's crazy that barnacles can cause damage like that! 😯

They must be added because there is no sound from the drone and it doesn't seem to line up with the breaths exactly.
Do whales and dolphins know that they aren’t fish?
