I'm type 9. I find for me when I'm stressed, it's not so much the "procrastination" part of type 6 that I fall into, but the fear of abandonment (which is also very 6-ish). I have huge FOMO around the idea of friends getting together without me and/or worry about people not being my "real" friends. (Yes, there's some trauma around that too, and yes, I'm in therapy.) I've never really resonated with the "lazy" or "procrastinating" side of the 9 that people sometimes talk about -- that's not me at all. But the need for connection and harmony (and fear of it being taken away) is so true for me.

That "lazy" stereotype can really set people back... because Nines are some of the hardest working people I know! It all comes back to the core motivations... and you nailed it. You have a deep desire for connection and harmony... and thus you make choices to ensure those won't be taken from you!

Whoa! This was soo insightful! Thank you especially for all the information about blindspots. p.s. your skin doesn't look like a 'withered old batwing' at all.😅

I can’t wait to watch this. Thank you Abby. As a T2 I am seeing the T4 moving in and it has been all that easy. As the Helper is discovered and saying “ No not right now “ I have all this time free to feel my true feelings. I am on a spiritual investigation, and having true moments of bliss.

Extroverts have more energy mainly because they exchange information with the outside world/people much more often than introverts do.

This video couldn't have come at a BETTER time, Abs! Apologies in advance for the extra long comment but I'm so THANKFUL to you for all your enneagram content that I gotta say it somewhere... (proceeds to clear throat so I can shout from the rooftops, Hamilton-style). Almost 4 years ago, I discovered the enneagram, and after reading the descriptions, I thought I was a 4. But I was doubtful that finding my type could be that easy so I did a test and got a 1. I paraded as a 1w9 and 1w2 for a year but it always felt like I was wearing a mask; like I wasn't (or couldn't) be myself. Because of that, I did many tests, read many books on the subject, researched it to death and got the following numbers: 3w4, 2w3, 5w6, and 8w9 before landing right back at 4w3. While I knew this was close to what I am, lots of things weren't fitting like going to 2 in stress which I learned about when I thought I was a 2. I didn't do any of the things stated. I was frustrated and willing to stick with 4 even if it felt off in some places. Desperate, I asked my mother what type she thought I was based only on the core motivations and she said mainly 1 with a bit of 4 and 5. So I took that and used the stress / growth arrows from each; noticing a pattern with each that led to type 7. A type that I never really read up on as I was sure there was no way I was a 7. Even after testing as a 7 on four different tests, I denied it. Finally, using Abs' "Find Your Type" guide, I started with the centres of intelligence to narrow down to one type. I read the descriptions and if it felt like me, I included it. Then I used the different triads as well as stress / growth paths to narrow it down further. When the smoke cleared, I was down to 5, 7, and 8. So I used the wounded childhood message (that I doubt I could've started with as it would've been too heavy). Reading the 7 was a punch to the gut and I couldn't deny it any more. I was a 7 - specifically 7w8. Because of family, I was forced into the 1 role which I begrudgingly did because - 7s value freedom and hate being told what to do. It was my blindspot. Tapping into my 7-ness has been quite freeing. What I thought was me swallowing pain as a 4, was me actually skipping over pain in favour of keeping my spirits up. Using your free guide has been so helpful for me and I'm so grateful for all your enneagram content. I can't wait for the subtypes livestream next year (I think I'm a SX but not sure) so I can further my growth. Thanks again, Abs! You rock :) EDIT UPDATE: So, turns out, I'm a type 2 but I do have 7 in my tritype (2-7-1) so the stuff I said is still relevant :) Apparently, I wanted to be a 7 because it's the most liked enneagram type (and as a type 2, that's my core desire; my pride wouldn't let me accept the ugly parts of 2); I realised during my 7 growth journey that things weren't jelling as well as I thought they should. As someone who struggles with shame, publicly admitting my mistyping is quite humbling but I'm hoping that this resonates with someone who might be struggling to find their own type. Hang in there - It took me almost 5 years but I finally found my type :)

This is interesting, but still a little confusing. Being a 4 (I think) for example, will the signs of stress be a 1 in stead of a 2? I don’t see an arrow on the enneagram so they could flow both ways? And would the wings effect that in any why? Just started learning so yeah I have questions.
