Tube HiFi and other audio tube's applications is something we seems to share between French and US music lovers... Here in France we kept this passion alive by proposing beautiful gears and outstanding sound scene, people in the field always kept saying the tubes weren't dead yet and also there was always a real advantage to listen music through tubes! And for what I can see from my little french mountain here in the Alps it tend to make me think you kept the same love for those little glass bottles!! You worked to keep this whole world alive and to transmit it to the youth, that's so awesome! I'm a kid from the 80/90's and tubes were already almost forgotten by everybody but thanks to older guys like some of you here I had the pleasure to fall in love with tubes and I hope I will be able to find a real passionated young guy near me to pass him my vintage tube collection...
Hell of a set-up! LOVE tube amps! Now if only I could win that darn lottery!
Dare not think of tube rolling this beauty. Yeah ... the rails are so nicely done. Keeps things so neat and tidy.
As a recovering audiophile, I almost fell for this …but then I realised I’m a musician and that I’m surrounded by live music! 🔥🙌🏾😎💫
The wiring sparked memories. I worked wiring industrial panels for a while. About 4 of us would work on a board. The company didn’t really care how messy it was but a girl on our crew started really make them tidier. It took off. Pretty soon we were producing art with consistent curves in the wires. We were as fast as any one else because everything was so clear we could spot or resolve a mistake far more quickly. I think the factories where they ended up probably appreciated it too.

There's nothing like the sound of glass... I love it thank you..
I really love the high fidelity sound you demonstrated for us all on KZread. The sound from a tube amp is just second to none. My first taste of vacuum tubes amps was a Zenith cabinet radio and the sound was just unbelievable. The volume level would rock down the house wall plaques. That memory will be with me till the day I die. Nice unit at a fair price too. VF

Sheesh, the gloves required to install the tubes are $500.
Just watching the start and already counting the $'s on each of those Moon's... then on the power bill... Then on the physio after moving 150lb's of tubes up 2 flights of stairs then onto a rack. Great video, great sound, well built and thought through design and always enjoy seeing the eye candy that lies under the behemoth. Solid bare copper wire seems to sound better than good insulated wire for some reason, much nicer job there than I can do on the average day!
It sounded so wonderful through my speaker phone, awesome product! 👍
Woww that's surely a beast, sounds super duper good and visually very impressive, thanks for sharing..
thank you ...i understand what were those tubes ....because i have many many memories of them ..when just made a transmitter with ..6L6 ..or El34 ....or ..pl84 and ETC ....those tubes are great for everything ..perfect and simple schematic diagram using ...with powerful output and almost wide input more volume pressure frequency .....i understand them of 40 years ago .. perfect ...perfect ...thanks again...
I glad you pointed out that it isn't cheap, I almost ordered two.
Would have been fun to see close up shots of the amplifier. Some technical specs might have been great as well during the presentation. You show a testing lab but no numbers for geeks like me. Finally, for such an expensive amplifier, 2 or 3 genres of music playbacks (classical, jazz, blues) would have been appreciated. You are passionate and it shows, thanks for providing this content.
It would be interesting to hear that setup with infinity irs v speakers. Jadis deserves a speaker of that caliber. Some beautiful violin pieces and large orchestra music and now you can really hear what those jadis electronics can do.
My iPad just sounded like it always does. Wonderful. Thank you.
Only 22 seconds of music in a 7+ minute "review" of an amp. Maybe I'm alone on this, but I expected more. Appreciate the "guts" view and technical breakdown! Thank you

Yup. Sounds incredible through my $2 iPad speakers 🤣🤣🤣
Would have enjoyed more video on the inside of that beautiful piece.
You guys do a very very GOOD JOB - Thank You and big LIKe for all your Service !!! This is a very good Learning Channel about Audio-Amplification... very impressive !!! 🏆❤💯
I am so thankful for cheaper tech! Now a phone and decent earplugs give you most of the musicality you'll ever be able to appreciate.
Thank you for an interesting video and amplifier from France. I use my Old 1960's Akai 1/4" (Sound on sound) reel to reel with a (stereo) pair of tube amps with EL 84's, aboout 20 WATTS worth in total, to play my records with. And, my 1/4" reels. I can't tell you how good this sounds. The Analog World was a world of the professionals of Sound Mixing and wonderful Playback excellence. Sound Engineers in those analog days had to be good especially mixing in early Mono and Stereo sound to compete for customers and in the movie industry and recording industries.

A recommendation for those who want a tube amp, but never had one. Go to some place like these people to listen to it for a time. I had a less expensive hybrid tube amp (40 watt/channel 8 ohms). I found over time the high frequency musical instruments like cymbals or violins didn't have the sharpness of solid state. It's all personal choice as to what you wish to hear.
Excellent explanation and tutorial on tube's.

Thank you! Just what I wanted to say. So many people do that. How is someone supposed to listen to a $14K amp, played through, I don't know, $10K speakers (back in the "day" speakers were 50% of the budget), recorded over who knows what type of mic, then streamed for someone to listen to over their $40 computer speakers?
You could hear everything. I got an Audiolab 6000A Play amp and special acoustically made speakers that smoke my B&W 706s. And your system sounded better than most recordings on direct feed. One complaint, make the demos longer.

@BrooksBerdanLtd

How can anyone argue with that reasoning.
I'm thinking that the 1812 overture would be a good test piece to play. 150 watts from 6 of those monster tubes? I'm sure they could handle a lot more than that and by using them at a fraction of their rating the distortion would be at extremely low levels. I've got a pair of tubes that can put out 150 watts each. However, I'm also sure the distortion would also be too high at that level with them.
at cold winter day, when your heating system failed, it was cool!
love it
I'm sure it's a good amp. Trouble is watching the video will only make sound as good as my speakers. Just like the TV ads in the 60's showing you that nice color picture. I was seeing the ad on a B&W TV!

Francis, you failed to ensure your wife completely understands what it means to be an audiophile. Start with this, the most expensive things in life are #1. the home #2. the audio system in said home. #3. everything else. I was almost able to follow this (sports car/audio system tie). Wife: no input.
I remember ecc series tube usesely used far AC transformer supply with parerrel filament connections and PL series was series filament connections AC/ DC supply. ECL 86 and pcl86or82 was audio amplifier in India ❤️❤️
That is a big box!
Perfect !! Its sounds exactly the same as my Kenwood stereo. I just saved myself $14.800
That was hilarious, about 20 secs of audio playback out the system to gauge how good it is? I guess you will be doing a long video of comparison and playback?

Yup, I do wonder how far digital tube emulation will filter into the home audio market like it is in guitar amps for those who want a bit of tube lushness to colour their sound. Once you have a digital source and are happy to accept EQing subwoofers and digital room correction, tube emulation doesn't seem that that crazy a concept.
Wow - it's a big mother - almost as big as a very large amplifier. I wonder how many watts it pumps out.

The output transformer is a non-linear element as a function of frequency. Therefore it introduces a significant phase distortion if one compares the input phase of the signal with the output phase! To remedy this, it is necessary to build OTL (Output Tarnsformer Less) amplifiers. Much better!

Not sure why I would need so much power. Better to have too much than too little. The inside is art.
@Master_of_Chess_Shorts

The idea is dynamic range. If you have so much power, it is supposed to reveal more at lower volumes. A lot of other factors are involved but essentially, you are covering more with less harmonic distorsion and providing a wider path for a richer signal filled with frequencies and their harmonics. A notion of depth and width or volume.
Like most of these ‘high end’ demonstrations, easy to reproduce music is used. Ie minimal dynamic range, not many tones at one time, not much super bass or super treble. I am using an iphone with an external blue tooth amp/speakers. This system sounds pretty good because the music chosen is very easy to reproduce. If I got the original source and used my bedroom system: mac 4100 / NHT 1.1, I bet it would sound way better. The next time you do a demonstration like this why not do some thing like the 1812 Overture?
most people don't know the difference between class A and class B power or how the switching between wavelengths look on an oscilliscope
It Will help keep the room temperature warm too.
