Except this completely changes his entire backstory. When he was a kid, he escaped a waterfall by morphing into a bird. Additionally, he had saved his mother from a snake by changing into a mongoose. The fact that he can only change into a tiger is really disappointing for a lot of fans because it really limits what he should already be able to do. He's undeniably been nerfed, unless viewers are willing to forget his entire character background.It's understandable though, considering the limitations in budget for a live action series. Still very disappointed.

N. Harris yeah, it’s undeniably different from the young justice background story, and even tho I love it and am so excited to see where season 3 is headed, I think this new take on Gar’s story is pretty cool too. I believe it’s leading up to that major point where he changes into something else!

@@rubybishop8749 I'm glad you're enjoying it and all, but this is a pretty profound departure from Beast Boy's origins in the Doom Patrol. Even in other animated series, they remained pretty faithful to his original story and presentation. In this series, they don't seem to bother with that at all. Beast Boy doesn't even have his trademark green skin except for random moments in this series when monetary restrictions on the budget allow. Again, I'm glad you're enjoying it, but for most fans of Beast Boy who have known him from different series over a long time, this is a pretty big disappointment. The "major points" in BB being able to shift into something else usually revolved around supernatural creatures with crazy amounts of strength. In the comics and earlier shows, he had seemingly massive amounts of untapped potential. Here, his potential is getting to a level that we already expected him to be at.

I like how they treat beast boys powers actually They acknowledge the fact that he's too slow to transform (Kori does) The doctor said that gar only changes into a tiger bc of a psychological thing Before he joins he has never even bitten someone... And generally doesn't seem to have fought much Then he goes through trauma after trauma that involves him involuntarily hurting and /eating/ people They really just made a lot of room for his powers and him to grow/change The series is obviously set to run for a longer time and several seasons so yea. Gar, as a fan favorite, will get his moments and his character arc (tho im not denying that they still mess up a lot and gloss over things. I'm still curious to see if classical music will now be a permanent trigger. I hope so. That'd be an interesting development)
