BEAN BASICS S3 E4: Fast and Easy Turkish Coffee with the Beko Coffee Maker

We love drinking and sharing Turkish Coffee at our house. It's rich, sweet, and delicious. And although my husband, BIGGBY COFFEE Co-CEO Bob Fish is an expert at making it in the traditional way with a cezve (a stove-top Turkish Coffee pot), it's also messy, complicated, and time consuming. So when he came home with a new automatic coffee maker by BEKO that promises to make Turkish Coffee fast and easy, well let's just say he was going to have to do some convincing to get me to to give up precious counter space to yet another coffee appliance. Find out if we keep it, gift it or KRUSH it.

If you stir coffee, water and sugar before you turn on the machine, you’ll have a better foam. A tip from an experienced Beko user:)

I was about to write a comment on this to say the foam isn't what I expected, and I blamed the machine to be honest. Thanks for adding your comment!

what is the voltage on that Beko? I dont think it can be used in the USA without a high wattage converter.

Y'all are pronouncing "cezve" wrong. The letter ""c" in Turkish sounds more like an English "j". Cezve are used in many of the countries formerly under control of the Ottoman Empire, and as a result, many of these countries have their own native terms/spellings of "cezve," many of which are easier for a native English speaker to pronounce correctly. Take the Bosnian term "džezva," for example. If looking at the Turkish word makes it difficult to resist mispronouncing the term, I'd encourage the use of an alternate spelling from one the non-Cyrillic Balkan languages. Or, just make a point of remembering that "c" in Turkish sounds like a "j" in English (not to be confused with a Turkish "ç", which makes a "ch" sound) -- if you ever need to order sucuk (a type of sausage, pronounced "soo-jook") from a Turkish restaurant, remembering what I've explained here will be helpful. I'm not sure how "Beko" is pronounced in Turkey (it's a Turkish brand), but the company uses the pronunciation "Beck-o" in advertising targeting the US market. While I already knew how to pronounce "cezve" due to my love of Turkish coffee, I just took 30 seconds to pull up Beko's website and play one of their videos to figure that one out. If your organization finds tasks like that difficult, I am available for hire.
