    Excellent video. I pack mine totally different but as you say it's a personal thing. For me, the trays are of key importance. Everything you have in the bottom layer goes loose in the trays in my box, held captive by the seat cushion. That way, I just clip the trays on the side and everything is open, clearly visible and to hand without having to unzip pouches and search about for stuff. Weights in the trays higher up are fine, so long as they're placed towards the rear of the box (close to my breakaway harness & my back). I always carry flask and water, so that is my base layer, along with my reels and bait box. Small chopping board and folding bucket also inside. Spare clothing fills the spaces in between.

    That sounds like a well thought out and effective routine where everything has been tuned over time. Everyone will have their own way and some prefer the “chuck it all in” approach. Which ever way it goes it is always interesting to see what others do. Which size box did you go for?

  • @trampster7306

    Happy New Year Mark - very interesting video. I was curious to see how your trays fit in your seatbox. I was lucky enough to pick up an old Green Shakey seatbox last year from Freecycle, and one of the guys on the fishing forums kindly gave me a couple of Green trays for it. The trays don't fit on the rails inside the box, and don't leave enough room for the seatbox cushion (Midwater Luggage!). I made up a couple of trays from thin Ply, but they are still much heavier than the plastic ones. Looks like a newer box is the only solution. Stay safe & well. 👍👍

    must be something to do with pussers training getting in the habit of keeping everything tidy I have 2 more items in my box a small first aid kit and a 20cm bolt cutter which will cut a 6/0 hook with ease have used these on the beach twice (not on me) but they came in handy seem to remember you having hook problems on the boat anyway Happy New Year to you and your family, tight lines keep the videos coming

    Happy New Year Alan, I haven’t heard of anyone carrying bolt cutter before but if you have had use of them then a space in the box they deserve. The hook in my finger wasn’t coming out without some specialist help and I can still vividly remember the pain even with the injections. In fact I think the injections hurt more.

    Separate zipped up bags for everything is the way forward. For everything aswell I have had random dogs bolting at me in the past. Literally only have things out I need, this saves your losses big time and is safe for loose dogs. I had one dog run off with my chopping board and another swallow my glove whole (that wasn’t even out it was in the netting compartment, I had only just turned up so not put them on yet). Nearly got bitten when I tried to get it as well.

    Thank's Mark, great to see how others set out. Thinking I'm going to finally order a seat box like this. I like mine at the moment as it has a tackle compartment built in. The main compartment is too small now with my 2 fixed spools in so time to upgrade. How do you carry your gear around for beaches like Chesil that aren't near the car park? Trolley?

  • @seaangling

    @seaangling

    Hi Shaun, for longer walks or where it is going to be hard work I use a rucksack. I was lucky to find one where the back unzips rather than top loading. You can lay it down, undo the zip and see everything inside. It still carries like a proper rucksack so it has waste and chest straps and can be adjusted to sit high up. Much more comfortable but no seat.

    The bottom three boxes are TronixPro weight boxes and are very handy to keep stuff organised. I use one for all of my tools, needles, knife etc, one for weights and a dry cloth and the third for my scales, elastic and shock leaders. I keep them all the same so I know where everything is.
