Beach Fishing in Winter with a Swedish Firetorch To Keep Warm!

Ойын-сауық

Graeme heads out for a winter beach fishing session. He goes through the fishing rigs and gear that he is using and his setup for the day. After a number of casts into different areas Graeme finds the fish! In the evening to keep warm he lights up a swedish firetorch to cook up some food and make a tea!

THIS was a Totally Awesome Fishing Show! The surf and the sunset and the flaming coals from the torch fire all came together with fine videography and editing. Badger's Rest meets the Beach!

Spot on. That hypnotic sound of the waves breaking on the shingle really added to the atmosphere. Definitely one of my favourite TAF vids. Good work Graeme. Just ordered a Kelly Kettle and looking forward to taking it to the beach.

Every time I watch you and mike reminds me of when I was a kid, rubber dinghy rowing down the beach at Kessingland lighting a fire roasting potatoes and cooking whatever we caught. Don't know what the parents were thinking of we could have been washed out to sea but it was fantastic.

Great video Graeme..I am learning so much from you. My dad used to fish all the time but unfortunately he was taken too early and i never got to fish with him. I have a mountain of fishing gear that i have been given from a friend who's husband died not long ago. She said she is so happy that its gone to a nice couple. I will keep watching yours and Mikes videos to learn as much as i can.. Our plan is to go to the lakes in march with our little mirror sailing dingy that we are going to fish from and hopefully do a catch an cook by the lakeside. Any advice would be greatly taken . Cheers Kev.

Thanks Graeme. Enjoyed it, nice bit of filming. Sadly not even whiting coming out here ( Yarmouth area) hasn't been for several seasons. Talk of the electric stun trawling going on. Might account for a lot of the problem. Others blame windfarm cables. Boats not catching either. I miss beach fishing but need some hope of a supper at least. Cheers.

Cannot believe no Whiting in your area.I used to come up for night sessions a bit further north at beaches called Trimingham, and Sheringham. Never had huge Cod,but one night we had a load of 4/5 pounders about 3/4 mile north of Trimingham main beach.Long walk, got back to the camper van about 3am,but was buzzing. I guess its not like that now. Trouble is the deterioration has happened in my lifetime, not back in Victorian times. Scary how fast things go downhill.

TAFishing yes your right. I'm 63 and remember the beach and the pier alight with tilley lamps. Nobody goes now beaches are empty that is where there's a beach left. Have seen a cod for years now. I struggle on sand, both my knees, both hips and my back are worn out so it needs to be worth doing, it hurts lol. I used to fish of what they called the cosies on the old wooden pier before they built thjs one, blimey it was dangerous and we were just small children they'd have a fit these days. Always got something, seem to remember a lot of pouting then.

Awesome show. My dad is using it to learn how to fly fish. One question. What brand of pen rode do you guys use? I want to buy one but don't want to get one that will brake under the fight from 2 or 3 lbs wild trout.

  • @TAFishing

    @TAFishing

    6 жыл бұрын

A 7/8 weight flyrod will catch most trout ,but it certainly doesn't have to be a branded rod,or indeed an expensive one. The rod grading is more for the casting weight of the flyline, than the size of trout you catch .For instance it is possible to catch a big trout on a 4-weight flyrod ,but you would find it difficult to cast with if you are starting up. Best to ask some other fly fishermen,or see if they will direct you to a trout fishing club as you might be able to pick up a secondhand flyrod that will do the job.

No,its rare to get our big lakes frozen even in winter so it would be extremely dangerous to try walking on them.

Try the Fisheries departments, they were given these out when I was making a pier film about Bass. Might even be a free download online somewhere, but make sure its an up to date one. Rules and Regs are constantly changing.

Graeme, why are you not using a burley bag in the surf ? Should do what we do in AUS .... Onion Bag, old pilchards, pellets and tuna Oil, tie it of and stake into the ground, and let the wave action burley for you ... Beaches are huge .... you want the fish to come to you !!!!! Hope that you will try this soon ... Cheers "Down Under Mike"

I did a film about it already, its in our playlist.Put out a can of my own home made Rapta oil, then let the incoming tide cover it.Got it all on film you can see the slick from up on the cliffs. It was down in West Somerset at place called St.Audries Bay..think we had a Conger Eel doing it...but you are right..I have never seen anyone doing it,and I love chumming being a dedicated big shark angler .

Why is fishing bad this year? Is it down to over fishing or that the fish have gone further out to sea.

We talk about it and feel it has to be various forms of overfishing...sooner or later harvesting everything is going to see us all pay a price. Let's hope the spring brings better weather and steady fishing.

About an hour and a half. Out of a breeze it will burn longer. But I keep them in my greenhouse so they are very dry.
