I'm sorry about your parents and you, your parents are clearly worthless and they would probably throw you out of your house if they found out, but you also need to take a moment to think if transitioning is genuienly what you want to do since if you decide to go through with it you won't be able to go back and if that happens you'll start hating your body more than you already did which could result in you taking your own life, try to talk about this with someone not to a pro-LGBT or anti-LGBT try to talk about this to someone who's not one sided

I'm gonna comment this just in case there's someone else out there like me that is super obsessive about the "to-do list" of things to keep track of, learning absolutely everything they can before actually doing anything because it's super daunting or in some cases unsafe - Here's something that helped me out a ton: Wear a hairband on your wrist. Really, that simple. I was basically having a panic attack because it was my first few weeks of realizing I was trans, and I looked up every youtube tutorial I could on makeup, hair, painting nails, ANYTHING that could possibly be gender affirming but for some reason or another I couldn't do them. No money was a big reason tbf, I couldn't afford clothes at the time, I used to cut my hair super short so I didn't have much to experiment with, I didn't wanna steal my mom's makeup or nail polish in case I was found out and for other stuff I was honestly just too scared, but a very helpful woman through discord was just like "Sounds like you don't have a lot of options, but how about wearing a hair band on your wrist? That's femme, right? So even if it's tiny it might help" I cannot overstate the genius of that person, I don't know what kind of black magic they practiced but a 60 cent black hairband made me more euphoric than I'm willing to admit, and it sort of grounded me and calmed me in a way I was not expecting, it led me to take things more "one thing at a time" and while I was at work I looked at my hair band and I was more hopeful. And even tho I'm still baby trans that small thing definitely helped in me taking more and more steps and now I've experimented with at least a little bit of everything and at the time that seemed so daunting so if I can at least help one person then I'll be happy :)

Nice advice :) You can feel it on your wrist all day like a little comforting weighted blanket. When I started questioning (not for the first time, just the most intensely) a year or two ago, wearing a hairband on my wrist was absolutely a tiny source of euphoria for me. I did have hair long enough to tie up at the time, so it had utility outside of that, but it was still a comfort. Unfortunately, I shaved my head a few months before I decided, yeah, I actually do want to go on HRT - and my chin-length hair is a bit too short to tie up yet - but now I've got femme clothes and a manicure filling the space the hair tie used to :)

omg this is genius! I'm still pre-everything and taking baby steps, I long for these euphoria moments, and sitting down and doing my job puts me in this "agendered robot mode" that is so dull (I've been living with that for many years), so having something feminine on my wrist will be a helpful constant reminder of myself and my femininity, specially since I have ADHD so I had this "out of sight, out of mind" issue, anything that isn't in my field of view is eventually forgotten, but my wrist is often in my field of view even when working on a laptop, that's why it's GENIUS! ✨

Additional tip: keep some extra hairbands in your pockets. Obviously useful if you have long hair and might need a spare one (they are very easy to lose). But girls often ask other girls if they got spare ones, and having them on hand in that situation (even if it's unexpected) can lead to a little euphoria. In school I noticed really often how girls would ask around for hairbands when they forgot or lost their own, so I eventually just hand a few in my backpack, even when I didn't have any use for them. But being able to - and yes that sounds stupid - take part in this "girlish" thing of handing out a hairband has something validating to it.

For the shaving and hair removal section, you should've taken a bit to talk about which of those places are places that cis women grow hair in. All women have leg hair. A lot of cis women have mustaches. Some cis women have breast hair. These aren't trans-exclusive issues, they're just not often discussed.

All cis women have body hair, but a majority of women with hard to manage, obviously visible body hair in stereotypically male locations, such as chest, back, and upper lip have this issue due to hormonal imbalances and conditions such as PCOS. A vast vast vast majority of cis women can't relate to having a noticeable 5 o clock shadow. Hair growth is determined by follicles, and testosterone is ALWAYS the cause of male pattern hair growth. Bringing up "but cis women get this too..." would be a waste of time and irrelevant, considering the hair removal section was specific to MALE puberty and how it effects hair growth on a follicular level

Most women do not grow facial hair, unless due to genetics and hormone imbalances. For me, I have PCOS and grow darker on my upper lip, in my inner thighs and back of thighs, and even around my nipples. This is not normal, due to having a hormone imbalance. It’s completely different than being male and growing hair in these places that I listed.

As a guy just in it for the knowledge: the make-up segment was honestly great for the audience it is for. All other guides just assume and unless you're a woman or know they just assume everything. That sponge soaking bit: yeah I had no idea either! Mascara? I thought you put it on the lashes as in like smear it on, not have the lashes close and rub themselves on, and this is all stuff a lot of other makeup tutorials assume. Some transfemme-specific makeup tips for anyone else reading the comments: I have a translucent red lip color/blush stick that I apply *very lightly* to my beard shadow/upper lip *before* adding foundation. It helps to cancel out the bluish undertone the shadow gives your foundation. I even use a touch on the bags under my eyes for the same effect. Contouring also helps a lot in adjusting the way your face shape is perceived and is worth looking into. You can even contour below your jawline if your chin blends into your neck too much for your liking. Also get your eyebrows shaped to give them more of an arch! Often in trans timeline pictures, the eyebrows do some heavy lifting!

After I learned I was transfeminine I watched many videos like this one to help myself, but now I find myself wanting to learn more about transmasc perspectives and perspectives of men loving men... because it is easy to see the million ways I don't identify with those things, but really valuable to learn the few things we do have in common. And I can learn how to be a better ally with their perspectives I also wasn't able to be there for some of my friends when they needed me a lot. That you are still thinking of her shows you care a lot

At least things are slowly getting better than when I was a gender and sexuality questioning teen in 1998 when the internet looked like a 90s commercial threw-up and had about as much useful information lol

@@May0Yay0 I'm amazed by how nice and supportive the Leadhead community remained. This is mainly thanks to how well Penelope handeled the whole thing. She didn't alienate her community by doing a completely 180 with her voice, look and content. Her content stayed true to what it is about, she didn't lean too heavily into making videos about being trans for the sake of being trans. Well as she gave time to people to adjaust to the change by slowly transitioning her voice over a year despite it making her uncomfortable to do so. She fought hard to achieve this, and she did it pretty damn well. The people that swore against trans people got it out of their system fast and they either left or grown up to the idea. As a contrast, a relatively well known Minecraft youtuber came out as trans around the same time Penelope did. Her transition didn't go nearly as well... she alianated even her LGBTQIA+ viewers as well by deleting every single of her old videos and turning a 180 straight into being a full on pink cherry blosom trans tuber. I can't blame her for it because life really tried it's best from transitioning in a positive manner. So yeah, Penelope was strong enough to make it all work and i respect that.

@@JohnSmith-gd2ws I agree 100%. While transitioning is going to be a big part of your life when you're trans, I'm glad that Leadhead kept up all of her videos (even after she knew she was trans) because it really does give an insight to how amazing and consistent of a KZreadr Leadhead is and how her transition did not effect her videos too much in anyway but positively. I can also imagine it must have also been hard for her as a majority of the gaming community can be very negative towards anything affiliated with the LGBTQIA+ community, so I'm also really proud of her for that too :)

I’m currently 15, and questioning being a transfem. My parents literally think I’ve been influenced by my friends do this. Only because they’ve never seen signs of this until like a week ago, and they think it’s not right for me. Despite the fact that they aren’t in my body and don’t know who I am. Even the fuckin school counselor agreed like what the fuck? It’s always been something in the back of my head for years, I remember wanting to go in my Moms closet and trying on her clothes when I was home alone but I was too scared lol. It’s only just around a year ago that I’ve been really thinking about it and wanting it to happen. My parents are made that I never told them, and I instead told my friends. Because I didn’t want to tell them, it wasn’t something I was comfortable with doing. My Mom said she’d support me, and she’d do anything to make me happy. But when I asked if I could go to the store with my friend to buy femclothes with my leftover bday money, she said no. Despite the fact that that’s what would’ve made me happy since HRT and Estrogen are too expensive. My Mon tried to make an agreement with me, that she’d give me my privacy back and stop stalking my text messages and Gmail 24/7 if I dropped the trans thing until I went to a therapist. And I didn’t, I agreed to it. But the next day I couldn’t drop it. It was something I was too passionate about. And Mom, if you read this comment. Don’t get pissed At me, because this is literally the truth and nothing but the truth this is exactly what has happened. I’m not sure what’s going to happen in the future, but I’m hoping I can be who I want to be. This video was awesome, and I thank you for helping people like me out!

I'm a few years older than you and this is the best advice I can give you. The way I worded it was that I always had the signs, I just never understood what they meant. When it comes to getting fem clothing, go with a friend of yours so it's less embarrassing. Shopping with a parent for stuff in your size makes it a lot more difficult in my opinion if you're nervous about what other people think. If you're with a friend, it's a bit more natural like you're helping them pick out clothes and they're asking for a second opinion. Take it step by step, you have more than enough time. Stay strong. If you need another trans creator, BigIcky is also another good one.

Gonna try coming out this weekend to my parents. Mtf. Scared shitless and ready with a powerpoint presentation. 😂 Thanks for this Lead, glad to be joining you on this crazy journey! Especially with the amazing vibes you lend your videos. The Beginner's Guide music just makes it. Fortunately I'm quite lucky and require testosterone shots tri-monthly, so by swapping that to oestrogen, should see pretty good results. I also started puberty late due to this so my body looks pretty feminine shape-wise. Looking forward to looking in the mirror in a year or two, and that's the first time in my life I've said that. 😲😁

As a KZreadr I’ve been watching for almost a year or two now, this is incredible to see. I wish I had an ounce of the courage you had to be this public with it, but the representation is amazing. Glad my kids can have someone to look to for inspo. Keep it up Lead, excited to see what you come up with next

this video is simultaneously extremely motivating and extremely crushing. learning things about this (mostly about the hair and shaving stuff) makes me sort of wary about how much i still have ahead of me. needless to say im really thankful for this video!

Eh, it can be a bit of a rollercoaster but you'll get there. Just cling on to the progress, how slow it may be! Say that transitioning takes you 2-5 years, then you still have decades to live after that ^^

Thank you for making this. When I started transitioning 6 years ago. I BEGGED for something like this, and Im glad you put it out there for many of our fellow sisters to be. Watching it now, I've noticed, and helped me self actualize how much of not only my body, but my personality, attitude and life has changed in those six years all while being blind to my own personal progress. Thank you, and I was VERY surprised to see both Zee and Jessie in here, Zee was a HUGE part of my early years and Jessie a recent love that Helped me find catharsis in a time of extreme fear. To all of you. Thank you for this. I'll be sure to pass it on to anyone in need. Much love, Six. ❤🏳️‍⚧️

Yeah this video has absolutely nothing to do with my life or needs. Then again I'm also subscribed to lawn care , blacksmithing and wilderness survival channels and I live in a downtown apartment in the middle of major city and have no use for anything I learn from those channels. It's about learning from all sorts of people and moreover it's about the creators themselves. Keep on killing it homegirl. Edit: Omg I thought hormones would stop the hair growth. I can't even articulate exactly why I though that. Maybe something Contrapoints said about her skin getting softer. Man I've got hair everywhere. I can't imagine the struggle. If I started shaving at my face I'd have a 5 o'clock shadow by the time I made it to my ankles. Y'all have my utmost respect. OK and I literally choked because of the "my boobs are protecting me from attacks from my flanks" haha I freaking love this channel

I love this video but I want to present bit of a different take that, for obvious reasons, Penelope can't provide: I'm a black, latinx, indigenous woman of color and I wish to sear something into your mind if you are a freshly cracked egg of color (black or brown): WHITE PEOPLE EXPERIENCE GENDER VERY DIFFERENTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is not me trying to contradict Penelope's video I agree without 75% of what she has said and I have experienced many of those same things myself but what is different in my story as a brown woman of color compared to Penelope's is that the imposter syndrome lasts way longer if all of the resources you find are center around white people. you start to question why your hair can't be straight, why you can't sound like that, why you look like that etc etc etc etc. Its a giant rabbit hole. White trans folks have societal beauty standards to compare themselves to and that sucks but beyond that we, brown trans queers, unfortunately only have white beauty standards to compare ourselves to. Because, i don't know if you know this yet, but the societal beauty standards ARE the white beauty standards. in the case of trans women, white women will spend an eternity trying to pass, and we unfortunately will not be deemed as passing by society at large until we pass as a white woman by straightening our hair, policing our own tone, taking on white woman mannerisms in general. Please black/brown baby gays out there implore you for the love of god seek other black and brown trans folks to admire for style reasons, seek black and brown trans influencers (they are rare but they are out there!). Do not get beaten down by a society obsessed with white womanhood and toxic white customs and beauty standards. You are amazing and you are beautiful and you do not need to emulate white people to prove it. Please seek black and brown friends who will be honest with you about how you are passing if passing is something you are interested in. And please cut out any toxic negativity society may throw at you. My transition took a long time to get off the ground because I kept listening to folks in trans support groups telling me I was too brown, too ghetto, too uncouth, too curly haired to be anything than a perfumed orangutan. If you go to a hook up or date and they say you are cute for a black girl DON'T FUCK THEM. if you go to a support group and they tell you your hair isn't feminine enough LEAVE! if your doctors tell you this won't work on black people an there are no other options for you THEY ARE LIKELY RACIST AND YOU NEED A NEW DOCTOR! the first 3 years of my transition was just me having to be respected by a society that doesn't respect black and brown women THEN I could enjoy my newfound womanhood. I know its not fair the white girls get to just struggle with their femininity but we have to struggle with society's poor views on black/brown femininity and you don't deserve it but please stay strong and do not let anyone tell you, you are less than because you happen to be transitioning while brown! LASTLY, some affirmations for my black/brown trans sisters: remember that we, black trans women, shaped the modern queer scene, we invented drag, we invented "throwing shade" and its lesser known counterpart "reading" and we invented Ballroom (Watch Paris is Burning or Pose if you haven't). We invented these things to keep ourselves safe and "rehearse" passing before we did it in front of straight people and white people. The modern queer landscape exists off of our backs so the next time that society inevitably seeks to beat you down and tell you that you aren't valid, remember that your queer foremothers and ancestors have made all of this culture FOR. US! Share it with the world and show them the baddest bitch who ever lived like I know you are. And of course, you're valid and I love you. -Black trans girl transitioning for 8 years

@@marciamakesmusic to the newly transitioning black/brown trans folks who happen to be looking at this, people like this is who you want to avoid. The ones that will look at an attempt at an uplifting message for you and seem to reject it without seeming to have thought about how the intersectionalities of race can make transition difficult. Stay strong in the presence of people like and don’t let them gaslight you. Your pain is real but you are strong.
