I feel if you lower the tight control on mine it gets spongy as if a variac feeds a Marshall like evh did. Great option to have with that knob

Thank you for the video, Christopher Klimek. Does it seem like the tone got significantly better going from 9 to 12 volts? That's what I thought I heard.

Yeah sure. A bit tighter, more open, rougher, faster. But today I would rather recommend 13-18V. Really. The BE-OD does NOT change its tone or responds as drastically as one know it from the "Angry Charly" or the "AT" pedals (by JHS). So you might really go best with higher voltage into BE pedal. Or simply try out the MI effects "SUPER Crunch Box" (version ONE!!!) in Comp Mode 2!! This pedals doubles the incoming 9Volts internal. So you don't need an extra power source or a doubling Trick. The Super crunch Box (VS1) is one of the best pedals I now, by today. Now matter if you go for hotrodded/boosted Plexi Sound, and/or 80ies Sounds or 90ies Sounds. In my Opinion there is "Joe Bonamassa" possible, and much more from blues rock, classic rock to hard rock. But even also "Rage against the mashine" or "no doubt" sounds and the like (..if just needed for a good Cover Band). I very much like this pedal for Riffing and Soloing. But also with chords it does a brilliant job. If you play a clean or break up Combo Amp or Vintage Head (Fender, Vox, HiWatt, VHT...) and look for "MARSHALL-tone" it's one of THE ONES. I don't like the first crunch boxes!! Nor the newest Version 2. Just go for the one and only SUPER Crunch Box Version 1. Here it is just only with single coils!!!!: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y2F42MWGlZbacs4.html

I have a friedman be od and im about to sell it and get the wampler drive for acdc. Should i do it? Or just get an eq pedal?

Hi Ges Si. I can't tell which pedal will do the ac dc job best for your rig. That depends on your amp, guitar, playing style, ears, taste. You'd maybe find your sound in the BE-OD. Perhaps the Friedman Dirty Shirley works better for your rig. Maybe it's the Ramble FX Marvel Drive 3, the wampler superplextortion or plexidrive pedal, an Egnater Goldsmith(!!), The Wheebo JCM drive. If you are keeping the BE-OD, lower the internal gain, set "tight" controll between 3 and 5 o' clock, run the pedal on 12, 14, 15, 16 ...or 18 Volts and use an EQ. But not every EQ pedal will do the job well. I like the old blue MXR 6 band best.

Hey Ges Si. I've got news for you: Get the MI Audio Super Crunch Box (or super crunch box Version ll). If you know the first Crunch Box already (and hate it), go get the SUPER Crunch box. If you chose Comp-Setting ll (2) and LoGain-Mode, you're fine. Comp ll Setting works with J Fet Drive, which feels totally different than the diode cliping of the old Crunchboxes. Don't be afraid that Comp ll setting should provide the MOST compression. Super crunch Box and S.C.B. Version 2 (has got a 4 band EQ) work with internal voltage pump to achieve 18V which gives enough headroom and tightness. LoGain Mode (SCB 1) or Low and Medium Gain Mode (on S.C.B. 2) provide great tightness, crunchynes, Marshallness :) No EQ needed. Very natural and strong. Fast and gritty yet smooth EQing. I like the Super crunch Box EQ-Curve very much. Super Crunch Box 1 has maybe too much Gain for AC DC use (if you use Humbuckers). Super Crunch Box 2 would be best for best LO Gain results. No BE-OD, Dirty Shirley, Wampler, Extra EQ-pedal needed. You will love it. My SCB 1 matches my Fender Blues DLX, my Vox V15 (80ies) AND my Linnemann JCM800 Clone. None of my pedals ever matches with any of my amp that well before. Don't go for Crunch Box Clones of other cheap pedal companies. They all clone the old LED clipping Crunchbox models. If there is no "SUPER" in the pedal's name it isn't super. ;) If you get a SUPER crunch box, it sounds SUPER. Really big deal. I just got a Super Crunch Box 1 (Tone and Presence Poti for EQing only) for only 70,- EUROs (used). Awwwwwwesome!!!

Dude, I believed that using 18v instead of 9v could damage the components? No?

Hey Dude, always look at the instructions/the manual. If the pedal company writes "8-18Volts" you are welcome to choose 8-18Volts. =)
