That's because BBC One would handover to the BBC News Channel (BBC News 24 at the time) from November 1997

I vaguely remember this ident as I was six at the time. But it's sad watching a closedown from this period as this was the pneultimate christmas closedown for the channel. This also proved to be the final christmas ident of the 'virtual globe' era and the pre 'News 24' era. Only 10 and a half months later the balloon was airborne and the closedowns no more.

Only a few months later and then November rolled in to end BBC One closing down. It would hand over to News 24 through the night while the team got some shuteye.

This was the last year of festive closedowns on BBC1,as from the following year,BBC News was on over the downtime.

Mr. BBC: I think just verify Mona Lisa! UFO: I will save it! Dora: Help me! Then, the BBC1 logo appear.

Tristans Krums, You're right. The clock, on BBC One, says 3:23am. If Christmas Day 1996 has moved into Boxing Day 1996, Elsa is finally born as Anna's newborn sister.

Tristans Krums, You're right. The clock says that it's 23 minutes past 3am. Elsa's 1st birthday has now come to an end on BBC One's very late night. Elsa enjoyed Christmas Day 1996 and she enjoyed BBC One's Christmas Day line-up. The next Christmas Day will be in 1997, so Elsa will be turning 2 years old.
