I died inside the day hew died. I was in class, it was my 8th grade year. My best friend at the time had told me and my mom had called me minuets after to tell me he died. I broke down and cried so hard. David Bowie has been my idol since I was 6 years old. I am now 18 and he continues to inspire me, he is the reason I am and will never be afraid of being different. This man always remains in my heart as I have built a collection over the years of my life of merchandise inspired by him from shoes to posters. The summer after 8th grade I made a key chain dedicated to him that I still have to this day as my lucky key chain. My love for him will never end and I plan in getting many tattoos inspired by this man. I referenced him in my senior speech because him and his movies and even music have helped me through my toughest years. Rest in peace Jareth the goblin king, you will forever remain beautiful.

I'd woken up that day at 7 am, turned on bbc breakfast, I had barely gotten changed, heard this and nearly fainted, I was so devastated, I couldn't go in that day due to the shock, just sat in my room all week listening to his music

At the start you can tell they are both devastated. Especially when Louise does that small sigh. He impacted so many lives. I saw the news then went into my dads bedroom and told him. One of the only times I’ve ever seen him cry. He kept going on all the news channels on his phone because he didn’t want it to be true. Was a musical and artistic hero who inspired and gave love to so many generations, me and my dads included

Even more sad he never reached 70 :( I thought the song Blackstar was so weird and strange when it come out 2 months before, took on a whole new meaning after he died and I now think it's a masterpiece. I agree, I don’t think a lot of people understand that, plus general superstition leads people to think that certain years are cursed such as 2016 and 2020, or the ridiculous “death comes in threes” thing. But this is ongoing and not delineated by calendar years. 1. As the world population increases, so will the number of people who die every day. 2. The original generations of people who were seen as celebrities are now dying out. 3. As more avenues emerge in which one can become a celebrity, the number of deaths that are notable will increase. (Ten years ago there were fewer KZreadrs and therefore fewer KZread star deaths that were notable.) 2016 didn’t take David Bowie and Alan Rickman. Cancer did. 2020 didn’t take 200,000 Americans’ lives. The virus did.
