It's something about the European commentators that are far superior to the American ones. I think it's because they take the time to explain what we 'the audience' is seeing. All the moves, leaps, jumps, & skills have names. Most are even named after the gymnast who performed them first. Kudos to the bbc commenting team. Thx for this wonderful upload 💯💪🏿

Imo I'd rather American commentary bc they also explain everything but with the proper names. Europeans call some of the moves differently. But American commentators aren't the coaches of certain gymnast like here and they don't cheer on American gymnast like European commentators do. Imo it's rude to cheer on your country when you are commentating on the entire event with many countries. They are biased which makes them not a great choice.

What? I’m pretty sure all commentators give you the play by play. I’ve watched many competitions and they ALL explain the moves, along with the points system. I literally hear no difference between these commentators and all the rest.

@@dinkvjrwhat makes the American ones the “proper names”? that’s bias, I could easily say that the European commentators say the “proper names” but sensible enough to realise that different continents/countries just call them differently, doesn’t mean anyone is wrong

Very frustrating that names are incorrectly pronounced. When the name is in all caps it means the LAST name. Asians put their last names first!

It's something about the American commentators that makes them far superior to the European ones, probably because they aren't biased and cheering for Americans while many countries are in attendance. Plus maybe it's bc American ones are Olympic Gold medalist and can give a gymnast perspective. But I'm American so maybe I'm biased like the Europeans.

All commentators are biased towards their home team/country. These announcers are quite upbeat and celebrate every gymnast, but you can hear how delighted they are when Alice Kinsella competes. Nothing wrong with it; everyone has favourites!
