Bavarian RC - DIY LiPo Safe - Build Video

Build video of the Bavarian RC - DIY LiPo Safe.
Features: This DIY Lipo Safe is based on a standard hardware store metal box, protected on the inside with gypsum fibre board, including a vent duct for cooling and filtering of hot gases in case of a lipo fire. Replicated connections inside the box for charging and balancing of 2 batteries in parallel.

You have done an excellent job! You have also provided me with a solution to using an ammo box without removing the rubber seal. Your vent construction is very adaptable and should significantly reduce the smoke and flames in the event of a battery going off. Thank you so much for your incredible attention to detail & craftsmanship.

Nice work. Compare to solutions I have found on internet this is one of the best made.

This is incredibly well made and every detail meticulously thought out. I also applaud you for sharing the files and this video and essentially making it "open source" for the community. I will definitely be sharing this and subscribing!

Stick on magnets to the leads, so the cable won't dangle when in transit. You can then stick to cables to the lid and they won't be a nuisance. Or you could make corresponding ports on both sides, so you'd connect the leads to the box when actually charging. Great job

I'm looking into building my own fire resistant case, and I am noticing a troubling trend. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned already, but steel wool is incredibly flammable. The steel scrubbing pad may also be flammable since they, too, have a large surface area to oxygen-rich steel ratio. I recommend testing that if you haven't already, as It would be counterproductive to have a molten steel filter/more fire. Aside from that, this is an excellent looking fire resistant case, and I think it would work perfectly fine for containing fire.

Awesome build. I worry about those dangerous batteries. I keeps mine stored in a lipo bag with each batt separated. I saw a video on you tube where a gent had a huge hobby shop in his garage, and he had all kinds of toys and chargers in it. He charged some lipo's and left for work. He came home and his garage was burnt to the ground.😕 I hope in the future the engeneers design a better and safer battery. Thanks for this informative video!

I use the box with 4 small plastic bottles of water to reduce the temperature of the fire.

Handwerklich saubere Arbeit!

This is a very nice build, and looks very professional. The problem I see with this build, is that it's a one time use kind of thing, unless you don't mind replacing all the exposed components that will get burnt up. Of course most products designed to contain lipos fire are one time use, but I just find that with the amount of time, money and parts put into this build, it's not practical. At least not for me. And lets not forget about the required tools.
