I really dig thr look of this. The Quartz version is also significantly thinner than the auto which i think makes it look even more minimalist
Thank you, really liking the visual aspect of them The quartz option also makes sense
I love the simplicity and precision of this styles of watch. All looks so crisp. Another watch I might have to add to the list 😂
I usually don't go for Quartz, but in my opinion the Naos Quartz is by far the better option. It is cheaper, the movement is actually really solid. With the Quartz version you get a switz made Quartz by Ronda instead of the japanese Automatic by Myota. And the selling point for me is that the Quartz version is only 6mm thick. So it basically has only half the thickness of the Automatic version.

It's also much thinner
Happy you reviewed this. I was looking into this.brand just the other day
Awesome Teddy, I request you to compare the affordable Sternglas with Nomos. So that we can know why Nomos cost more. (similar to your Rado vs Oris video). For your other channel.
I followed your advice and got the Hamburg watch from Sternglas in the more affordable quartz version. It will be my daily “beater” watch while I wait for a Junghans with a sapphire crystal.
I picked this up at a super early bird price of about $200 in the Indigogo campaign a couple of years ago complete with 2 straps that are very comfortable. A Junghans would have been nice but I have no desire to spend that much on a watch. I currently have it on a Milanese bracelet which gives it a different look. The 821A is a nice little movement that has proved to be quite accurate.

I'm planning on getting this watch. Is yours still working reliably? How loud has the rotor been in your experience?
Browsing your site. I ended up going with the hamburg automatic With the graphite dial and I absolutely love it.
This is a nice watch, will be adding this to the small collection.
Nice looking watch, just a shame about the thickness and the movement. For that price it should've had a 9015.
I just bought Hamburg Edition Hafen and it is an amazing watch!
I really like this watch but the thickness had me go the quartz version... Especially for the price. If you think of it as a fashion watch it's almost unbeatable
Saw this on the website, looks really cool
For me, Sternglas Naos is THE fashion watch!
I recently purchased the Naos Automatik blue dial after watching a video of yours about it a year ago. I love it and only purchased it for the bauhaus design look. I don't believe I'll invest in a NOMOS but this is a nice alternative.

Hey Mate, a couple of years downbthe road, how happy are you with the watch? Would you recommend it? I'm considering to get this. Thanks
As someone who absolutely loves the Nomos Orion but can't quite afford one yet, the quartz version ticks almost all the boxes for me: - 38mm diameter with 6mm thickness is perfect for my small wrist. - No long lugs, making this better than the Orion. - Blue pencil hands with no second hands (for the quartz version). - It has the same subtly domed sapphire just like the Orion. - Case looks very well-polished and nicely shaped. - Personal opinion: Quartz is more in-line with the Bauhaus design philosophy than mechanical. The only things keeping me hesitant are: - I really want small seconds. - The dial is rather busy compared to the Orion. It's closer to the Max Bill aesthetic but doesn't quite has its own charm.

the lack of the second hand on the quartz version is the only thing that bothers me
After researching for a couple of weeks, I just ordered their current limited Naos Edition Oxford, with a shallower case housing a Miyota 9015 and an alabaster-colored dial. Let's see if this is the Max Bill alternative at half the price! If it is and I decide to keep it, it might even get some collector's value. I originally didn't want to spend more than 300€, now I spent twice the money, but this one just ticks all the boxes.
This one has been inspired by the Max Bill. Although I rather have a Max Bill, I like the look of this one.
I’m saving for a bauhause style watch and when I pull the trigger I hope the $ goes to buy from Teddy.
There is something beautiful in it's simplicity, but, for me would much prefer the sleeker Junghams or Nomos. In the comments another chap asked about your thoughts on Zeppelin ?
Nice. Bauhaus/Nomos style at beater prices. No brainer
If you're looking for minimalist (vs Bauhaus) - t's a little more expensive but offers better quality - I recommend the Mido Baroncelli Heritage line.
Great video
I had the first iteration of this watch when it first came out. It’s definitely a beautiful timepiece but way too thick and bulbous. Sternglas need to slim this down to 10-11mm and it would sit much nicer on wrist.
I aspire to a Nomos Neomatik 39. Nice looking watch, but I feel like I have enough entry level watches so I’ll keep saving.
love the look the low WR is a big detractor though

50meters is enough for a dress watch, unless you are james bond and plan to go for a swim while wearing a suit.
I received this watch from my partner for my birthday and unfortunately will be returning it. If you search Sternglas Automatic noise on YT, you will see others will the same issue as I am having, the weight/pendulum tends to rattle ever so slightly and making winding noises. Also like Stergales own video's, this video is a bit misleading to the viewer to believe this is a German made watch. Unfortunately again, like most kickstarter watches, the watches are assembled in china, and only the office is based in Germany. Watch keeps time great, and sapphire glass look tip top, but you are paying premium price for something subpar, with a movement that costs less than $50 At the price of $695 AUD!! I am exchanging the watch for a Seiko.
It seems that the hours needle has some materials on its end. As if it was not cut properly (visible at 4min21s) !!! O_O
As an automatic this does not make much sense to me. But as a cheaper quartz fashion watch it competes favourably with your usual high street brands in that same category.
You can also consider a Laco. I love Bauhaus minimalism watches and this one gives all the style and classy also casual look for a very reasonable price.
Any thoughts on Zeppelin watches?
"BaAwHaOuSs" 😂😂😂
For any American or in general non German speaking people. Bauhaus is pronounced like the first syllable of bowel (the bow) and than just house
Wished you guys still had this on the site! Looking for a good affordable bauhaus style watch

i bought almost brand new “second hand” Maxbill by Junghans in quartz… and got the “real” thing for less
Just trying to help: it should be "if one of our watches *is*" (not are)
Perfect bauhaus minimal watch. Not bad price. I don't care miyota movement. But... horrible thickness😓
What would you consider is the best value watch to buy?

There seem to be 2 different variants of this exact watch. One with a visually more elaborate movement like the one Teddy has here and one with a more plain looking movement on the official Sternglas product page. What’s up with that? 🤔

For anyone who’s wondering the same thing, here’s the response I got from Sternglas Customer Support (Translated from German): “A few years ago we still used the Miyota 821A movement in our watches. However, Miyota then took this movement off the market and replaced it with the Miyota 8215. This movement works just as well technically, it just looks different and now even has a stop-second function.”
Has Teddy ever said that he's doing this pronunciation of "Bauhaus" on purpose now because people kept bugging him about it? If so, that's a troll move I have to respect.
Nice watch but does not have a hacking movement.
Please notice the very unfortunate frayed end on the hour hand. It is very noticeable when close-ups on the hands are shown. However, a very nice timepiece.
why the hell can i not find this watch with black hands anywhere anymore? Only blue, completely ruins it for me.
I'm lost, what makes it a fashion watch?
@dave-ld8mo
Жыл бұрын
There are a few reasons why you could say it is a fashion watch. Firstly , the brand was founded 2016 and therefore has no history and heritage. Secondly, it is heavy with marketing on social media. Lastly, the designs are heavily inspired by the likes of Junghans and Nomos. However, it is still not a bad watch. In fact, it has some unique attributes specially in that price range. The only affordable Bauhaus watch with a smaller 38mm dial. And the Quarz version comes without second hands which looks even more minimalistic. I own one and I enjoy wearing it
I would exchange the sapphire glass for a miyota 9015 mvnt.!
Does the movement have hacking?

This around 500USD?just save for a Nomos. This is 2 steps above a Feice.
Has fashion watch vibes but I really dog the overall style. Just not that basic movement...atleast give us a 9000 series or even an NH35....cmon guys...
It looks good except for one in my opinion huge mistake namely the 0 in front of 2, 4, 6 and 8. For me 6 on a watch is either in the morning or in the evening but 06 clearly is in the morning and nothing else. Just stupid. So no, I would never even consider buying it.
Way too thick and way too pricy for what it is.
@Othusdragonreviews

the quartz version with no seconds hand retails for under 200 bucks, and it's 6mm thick. that's the version to get IMO.
Too thick, and the movement for the price is meh. I would go quartz, makes much more sense... for this automatic price you should get a Junghans quartz.
